The purpose of my research paper is to introduce my outlier Li Ka-shing. He started his own business in 1950 and named it Cheung Kong. He is now also the Chairman of Hutchison Whampoa Limited as of 2008. He is the 13th richest man in the world; he is worth $31 billion dollars and more if he choose to (CelebrityNetWorth/ Forbes). Li Ka-shing wasn’t always rich, he lived in poverty after his family moved from china to Hong Kong when the Japanese invaded he also lost his education at 10. He still had hope to return to school. Then at 12 he had to begin working to support his family (Li Ka-shing). Li Ka-shing was born On June 13th, 1928 in Chaozhou, China (FamousEntrepreneurs). Then when he was 10 the Japanese began to invade China, forcing his family leave his home and move to Hong Kong. He lost his schooling and but he still had hope to return to school. When he was 12 years old he felt as if her were 20. His father had tuberculosis and died shortly after, leaving him to support his family. Then learning that he had tuberculosis he had to balance work, school, and finding to breathe during the Japanese occupation. He had only one goal to pursue which was to secure his future and he was given the chance when his boss needed someone to temporarily take over the secretary job (Li Ka-shing). Li Ka-shings first job was at a plastics trading company where he worked for almost 16 hours daily. He also sold watches at his uncle’s store. Soon he became popular for his selling skills and was given the additional responsibilities of controlling the factory’s operations and product commercialization (FamousEntrepreneurs). He got his first break after the World War II. His boss needed a letter written.
