After our plane landed, we had to take a train to Venice. The reality of being in a different country didn’t hit me until we exited the station. Abby and I were both awe struck and all we could say to each other was, “Dude, we are in Italy.” When we were through with our out-of-body experience we began our search for our hotel. We couldn’t find it so we asked for help. Then, because we asked the same guy four times, he walked us to our hotel. It was through several tiny alleyways. If I was in America, I would’ve been sure that the man was leading us to our killers, but I was still in awe of Italy. The alleyways were sometimes so small that you would have to walk single file and sometimes let others go before you entered. Other alleyways would
The cold chill was blazing on me and my shoe gently began to pull out a tear. I thought about Candy and the other guys. Hopefully, I made the right choice. The sun came down and I ended up in a deserted river. Slowly, I began to regain where I was, and I opened my eyes in disbelief.
What if I told you that you’d be able to relive the fondest moments of your life as many times as you want in a dream world reality, would you believe me? This may seem far-fetched for some people, but if you take the time to read "The Soul Survives and Functions After Death” by H.H. Price, you’ll start to question your own beliefs about your soul and where it goes once death strikes. Price questions the nature of souls once the inevitable happens and states that the soul goes to another world, a Next World. The idea of the dream world I previously mentioned will make you question your very own beliefs about where your soul will go once life’s inevitable happens to you. So, is Price’s afterlife theory of the Next World really something to
I walked around unsteadily all day like a lost baby, far away from its pack. Surrounded by unfamiliar territory and uncomfortable weather, I tried to search for any signs of similarities with my previous country. I roamed around from place to place and moved along with the day, wanting to just get away and go back home. This was my first day in the United States of America.
Investigating Altered States of Consciousness “The question of what consciousness is, is one that has intrigued psychologists.” (Hayes, N & Orrell, H, 2000, page 116.) ‘The term altered states of consciousness refers to significant change in what is considered a normal waking awareness’ (Crisp, T, 2003, Altered states of consciousness, http://www.homepages.tesco.net/~waves/asoc.htm) An altered state of consciousness takes many forms such sleep, dreams, hypnosis, coma and the effects of psychoactive drugs.
Being a superhero is the dream of a huge number of people. In a parallel world; anyone can acquire these powers. That world is called astral. The only way to go to that world is to do Astral Projection. Astral Projection is considered as a spiritual practice that enables the one who practices it to have unlimited powers. The human body consists of three things: a physical body, an Astral Body and the spirit which nothing is known about it. People practice the Astral Projection using the Astral Body; and there is something like a wire that connect the physical body with the Astral Body that it is called Astral Cord. Astral Projection is an out-of-body experience that has many and very important pros and cons.
From the time of hunters and gatherers, the some of the thing that has accompanied the human race is their brains. Human's intelligence and consciousness has evolved just as humans have evolved from early hominids to modern humans. Consciousness refers to an individual's awareness of their surroundings and everything that is going on around them. During the course of a lifetime, there are many instances where a shift in the quality and pattern of an individual's mental activity occurs. Altered states of consciousness includes the variable aspects of sleep, dreams, drug induced consciousness, and hypnosis.
I drop my vigil as I drive through Henderson Nevada. From the clouds, mountains and small skyscrapers, the twilight cast a weird silhouette around the city. I felt safe, as if the ratio of civilians had the police outnumbered. I turn off the radio to sense the silence that Lake Mead evoked in the sunset. Winding up the highway, the sky pulled like a magnet, my hair stood on end, the roof of the car like static electricity. I head north-west towards Vegas into the orange twilight. I light a joint and savor the powerful ringing in my ears as I focus my attention on the electric silence, invisibly driving me into Las Vegas.
A Near Death Experience as a Religious Experience A near death experience can be defined as an event which occurs to people when seemingly the bodily functions which confirm life have stopped, i.e. clinically dead. It often has an ‘out of body’ element. and may be interrupted in a religious or non-religious way. Most individuals who claim to have had a near death experience say that there is a sense of indescribable bliss, ecstasy, and peace.
In June 1985, British mountain climbers Joe Simpson and Simon Yates ventured the unclimbed western face of Siula Grande, a 21,000 ft. high peak that is located in the Peruvian Andes. Simpson and Yates were both aware that what they are aspiring is nearly impossible because if something gone wrong it can be serious, which may lead to death, and there is no rescue available; in addition, mountain climbers before them who attempted to reach the mountain’s summit never achieved this goal. However, this didn’t stop them from climbing the west face of Siula Grande. They want to climb the mountain mainly because “it was just brilliant fun.” (2009). When people are aware that they are getting their selves in a detrimental situation, they still continue to do what they want to do. In my opinion, I believe people behave this way because they just want to try something extraordinary or they want to prove something to someone; but in Psychology, people behave this way because of motivation. Motivation is defined as the process “that makes a person move toward a goal.” (SparkNotes Editors, 2005); a motivation can be intrinsic, extrinsic, or both. Intrinsic motivation is a type of motivation which causes an individual to act or engage in activities to enhance their self-concept, while extrinsic motivation is a type of motivation that causes an individual to act in such a way for external awards. In Simpson’s and Yates’ case, they are both experiencing intrinsic and extrinsic motivation; despite of getting their selves in danger, they still yearn to reach the mountain’s summit because of interest, enjoyment, and rewards.
There are many phenomena present in today’s world concerning both life and death. An extraordinary incorporation of these prominent values is a Near Death Experience (NDE). Near Death Experiences empower and affect the psyche of many, changing their lives forever and altering their perception of death. Many questions arise from this particular topic simply because you have to experience it to fully understand its meaning. Questions such as, What is it, What happens, and how do they occur are familiar to experts in this field or to the people who have first hand experience.
As I zoomed down the interstate, I caught a glimpse of a sign that read “New Palestine Next Exit.” Something didn’t feel right but I just shrugged it off and kept driving. It was late and my friends and I were all anxious to get to the bowling alley so we could continue our fun-filled Friday night. Ten miles later, a light on my dashboard started blinking so I pulled into the nearest gas station to fill up my tank. Then it hit me: I was on the complete opposite end of town. Remember that famous line in The Wizard of Oz, “I’ve got a feeling we’re not in Kansas anymore”? Well, that was me, except Kansas was my hometown on the west side of Indianapolis and Oz was who-knows-where in the urban eastside. I was lost.

Imagine walking around the streets of Los Angeles and taking in the towering buildings and the bustling traffic. People on the sidewalk passing back heading to their next appointment and cars in search of parking slots. Suddenly the world stops and you hear the rattling of coins in a can. You take your focus of the beautiful City of Angels to a man sitting man on the ground
Many people have been known to have their life flashed before their eyes when they come in close contact with death. Many others will have an out-of-body experience when they are close to death or when they are very sick. No one really seems to understand why these things happen, but there is actually a method in which someone can complete the out-of-body experience without getting sick or having a near death experience. The process is called astral projection and it’s the act of separating the astral body (spirit or consciousness) from the physical body and its journey into the universe (astral projection). The process of performing astral projection can be a difficult process, but can be done with these steps.
The painful, dizzy sensation Leon felt when he tried to get up had slowly dissipated, and his head felt less throbby and his ears less ringy. The world had stopped shifting and swirling before his eyes, and so, he willed himself up and out of the pot of petunias. Leon looked up and saw that sun was already quite high in the sky. It must be ten or eleven, he thought and reached into his back pants pocket. There was no phone, as he suspected. Leon never had his phone on him after one of these incidents, or his keys, or his wallet. And so, he often had a difficult time getting back home and into his apartment. It was as if someone didn’t want him to be at home at all and had perhaps transported him sometime in the night by levitation to whatever his strange destination happened to be; only, Leon had the uncanny
