The episode from the television series, “Our Rising Oceans” surrounds the issue of global warming resulting in the ocean waters rising. There are a variety of reasons why sea level rising is a significant factor to life in the future. The earth gradually getting warmer is resulting in ice glaciers melting and collapsing which causes the ocean water level to rise. This is examined by Dr. Gavin Schmidt and other scientists such as who traveled to Greenland to study how glaciers are melting and causing ocean waters to rise. The scientists’ journeyed through the glaciers by helicopter, boat, and foot to truly experience global warming first hand. They watched as glaciers of ice broke off and dropped into the ocean. The scientists’ journey to Greenland truly helped them gain knowledge …show more content…
In addition, I enjoyed how there was a lot of footage vividly displaying what is occurring. It really grasped my attention and made me realize how the world is changing extremely quick. I also enjoyed the footage from the helicopter which made it possible for me to understand how large the glaciers actually are. I did not realize that they are as big as they are before the film. I truly realized it when the helicopter was compared to the glaciers. In addition, I also enjoyed how the film made it vivid that this is a serious issue that we are going to have to face in the future. The topic of Global Warming could easily be overlooked, but the video made it clear that it is a serious issue that people need to face as a reality rather than fiction. Lastly, I enjoyed how the scientists in the video thoroughly explained the issue that is going to be in the near future. They made helped me to truly understand what is happening to the Earth and what the future might hold. They helped me to realize that this issue is serious and is not something that should be
Even though Gore in the film says about the global warning that “this is really not a political issue, so much as a moral issue,” I believe that it is as much a political issue as it is a moral issue. The truth about the global warming is inconvenient to many economically developed countries.
The award-winning documentary, An Inconvenient Truth, directed by Davis Guggenheim in 2006, sets out to make the world think differently about global warming. Al Gore is a good man with bad intentions to tell the world what they are doing wrong. Twisting and manipulating his web of lies to lead society to believe that they are causing the earths fatality. Gore manipulates the persuasive device to distort the viewers thoughts towards the effects that global warning threats have on earth. Ethos, pathos and logos are used to captivate and make the film more intriguing to ensure the viewers take on the information that Gore wants them to think about. He only ever feeds the audience what he wants them to know, all for the sake of making his “story” seem like a hard-hitting exposé.
In his essay, “Global Warming is Eroding Glacial Ice,” Revkin is arguing that global warming is constantly changing the ...
As they closer and closer to the North Pole the men we getting tired but something in Plaisted made every man want to keep going. On there trip the men had to overcome wind speeds up to 60 mph and cracks in the ice up to 4 ft wide. Then one day in may of 1967 the wind and cracked ice was just to much to overcome and the men had to turn back, Although the next year with careful planning and no fear Plaisted took off on this expedition again. As Kuralt stayed back in Cedar Rapids, IA over the radio to Plaisted he asked. “ Where is you location?” and Plaisted reported back, “ Ninety degrees north!”
In its place we are entering a period of consequences." According to the facts that were mentioned by Al Gore in the film, I believe we are already living in the period of consequences. He said “carbon dioxide have never gone above 300 PPM,” but according to NOAA most recent global monthly mean of CO2 in September 2015 was 397.08 PPM. Due to such climate change, most recently the world has experienced most severe natural disasters, even in places where normally such disasters are not expected and abnormal. Also, in the last quarter century 30 new diseases were emerged even deadly like Ebola. “We don 't have that luxury anymore. We didn 't ask for it, but here it is” (Al Gore). We don’t neither do animals. A scientific study shows that polar bears are drowning in the Arctic Ocean and that has never happened before. Due to swimming long distances, up to 60 miles, and without finding the ice that they depend on for resting, they
From a logical point of view, also known as logos, the video makes strong claims that are well supported with visuals, facts and statistics. The major claim made in the video was, humans are the cause of climate changes drastic alterations in recent years. This claim is well supported by facts such as the rise of the industrial revolution and the excessive burning of fossil fuels by human beings. These facts are supported by charts, definitions of terms, cited sources and powerful visuals. The video also suggests logical solutions to aid in decreasing the amount of climate change for the years to come.

"On a recent afternoon, Scott McKenzie watched torrential rains and a murky tide swallow the street outside his dog-grooming salon. Within minutes, much of this stretch of chic South Beach was flooded ankle-deep in a fetid mix of rain and sea.
Al Gore also notices that the ten hottest years on record have occurred in the last 14 years. He gives many examples such as the massive heat wave in Europe, the dramatic high temperature in India and a lot of cities in America. The temperature increases are occupied in the whole world, not only the land but also the oceans. When the oceans get warmer, that causes stronger storms. In the last couple years, there are a lot of big hurricanes. These catastrophic disasters did a lot of damages. They lead to more flooding, heavy rain. However, they also lead to more drought. The spring comes earlier and the fall comes later, the temperature keeps on going up. Many explorers found that the ice is less thick than before. Mr. Al Gore uses a lot of scientific and geographic knowledge to explain the cause and the consequence about the global warming. Ecological environment has been influenced and many rare animals are endangered. Many mosquitos change their habitats and expand their range owning to the change of temperature. Also, it causes a lot of vectors for infectious diseases. It is often said that human should save water and water is a necessary. However, most people never notice that many droughts were caused by global warming. The explanation in the movie is very convince and persuasive. When I was a senior high school student, our geography teacher told us global warming not only makes the temperature high, but also makes many potential dangers. As I was a child, there is a catastrophic disease named SARS, my mother told me that the disease was very serious and led a lot of people to die. If we have to go out, we should be well-armed. We need to use masks to keep us from the virus. From this case, SARS is a disaster and from this movie, global warming is also a
The whole documentary tackled consequences which also have consequences. This in turn somehow forms a chain reaction of consequences which are also interrelated. As a result of these, climate change is considered as an accelerant to instability and a catalyst for conflict.
Our planet has managed to survive and thrive for about 4.54 billion years. In the last 2 million years we have caused enough damage and destruction to make our world “broken” beyond repair. We will not be able to get back the world we once had. The reason behind this is global warming, specifically, the increase of the global temperature due to the burning of fossil fuels and the release of greenhouse gas emissions into our atmosphere. If we do not make the issue of global warming a priority in today`s society, our entire way of life will be at risk. There are many reasons why so many people believe global warming should be a concern. Thoroughly examined points include: scientific predictions, rising temperatures, human causes, drastic climate changes and animal adaptations. Though there are several points arguing how global warming should not be a concern, the reality of the matter is that it needs to be taken into consideration on a global scale before it is too late, as to do nothing would have devastating implications on humankind.
Review Main Points: To recap, I introduced the documentary film “An Inconvenient Truth” which introduced the awareness about global warming, and also explain what global warming is and how we can reduce the process.
Everyone should be knowledgeable about global warming and the dangers that it brings to our planet. This essay will examine Global warming is the gradual rise in temperature and oceans due to recent human activity. This is created by the production of too much carbon dioxide that is released into the earth’s atmosphere.
The movie, The Day After Tomorrow, addresses the issue of global warming. The movie?s portrayal of the events caused by global warming was extreme and not very believable. Some of the information is backed up by science but most is completely off the wall and nonrealistic.
I have watched a documentary called “The Truth About Climate Change” which provide great information and evidence about the facts and consequences of climate change. “The Truth About Climate Change” is talking about the effect, fact and solution to the climate change. It is produced by the BBC, which is a famous television channel all over the world. The documentary takes part everywhere, such as the Arctic region, Amazon rainforest or the desert in China. “The Truth About Climate Change” provides very powerful argument and data to persuade the audience about how the climate change affects
