The world of dentistry has come a long way since it started a long time ago. From just scrubbing your teeth to using chemical and instruments to make your teeth even cleaner. I chose the career choice because my Mom works in the dentistry businesses and I’ve in a way looked up to her. Also with learning about her work it has interested me in a great way and it has inspired me to pursue this career. And it also has evolved with the different ways you can get your teeth fixed and different to do it, like general dentists, oral surgeons, endodontist, and orthodontist. And each of these people can help you with your needs in their own special way. Here is some details on one of these specialists called Orthodontics.

Coil Springs are springs that fits in between the brackets and over the archwire to open space between your teeth. Orthodontic elastics are small rubber bands that are hooked between different points on your appliance to apply pressure. Orthodontic floss and cleaner is special items to clean the braces, the floss is specially made to go under the braces to clean deeper in the teeth. The Orthodontic pliers, cutters, and forceps are the items of force. Pliers for an Orthodontist are usually used to help take off the bracket after the glue has been taken off. The cutters are mainly used for cutting any excess wire than is bothering the patient’s mouth. Orthodontic instruments such as the light to make sure that the Orthodontist can see into the patient's mouth which are special made like a spotlight so they can see even better. Orthodontic headgear uses an external wire apparatus known as a facebow to gently guide the growth of the patient's teeth face and jaw to the patient's teeth into the proper position. This force is applied to the facebow by a spring loaded neck strap or head straps. These straps have a safety release the disconnects if the facebow is pulled or snagged. A Orthodontic facebow is tool that is used also in the field of Prosthodontics, it’s purpose is to transfer functional and aesthetic components from the patient’s mouth to an articulator.
