Imagine living a childhood through poverty, repeated sexual abuse, and a sentence to a juvenile delinquent home; but growing up to having a net worth of 2.3 billion dollars (“Oprah: Charity Work and; Causes”). Oprah Gail Winfrey is an icon to all those young women out there living in disbelief. Oprah Gail Winfrey was born in Kosciusko, Mississippi on January 29, 1954 (“Oprah: Charity Work and; Causes”). Winfrey also hosted a show named “The Oprah Winfrey Show” which then became the highest rated talk show in T.V history. She is popular not only for her talent as an entertainer but also for her talent of giving and caring. Oprah Winfrey is a woman who continues to impact the world through her endless charitable work. The biggest charity Oprah is famous for donating in is The Angel Network. The network involved in various projects such as donating education supplies, school construction, and also “donated $2 million to disaster relief for victims of Hurricane Katrina and the Indian Ocean tsunami” (“Oprah Winfrey's Charities Worth More Than $200”). Her donated helped more than thousands of victims recover from such a tremendous event. The GBM is a organization that planted over 51 million trees in Kenya and “in 2006, Oprah gave $1 million to the Green Belt Movement International for tree planting and community development initiatives in Africa” (“Oprah Winfrey”). Since Winfrey was able to donate $1 million to the movement, she herself was able plant about 90,000 trees for the people in Kenya (“Oprah Winfrey”).
