Oprah Winfrey is self made leader and visionary known worldwide as a role model. She transformed herself from a lost child to wonderful a woman who has won many hats of being an actress, producer, talk show host and philanthropist. After a disconcerting childhood of sexual abuse, she moved from Nashville with her father and enrolled in Tennessee State University. She was offered a part time role in local television and also worked in local radio. After that she never looked back, she kept her hard work going on and on until she reached to the height where she belongs presently as one of the wealthiest person in America and one of the most influential people in the world. Perhaps the most notable triumph of Oprah Winfrey is her job as host of her own television show, "The Oprah Winfrey Show". Because anyone is free to decide what they choose as a career, she had the opportunity to create this show. The viewings and acceptance of the consumers to her show allowed it's prosperity. This essay I have decided to write about Oprah Winfrey. This is because Oprah had many serious life events. These life events must have implemented her key development stages or the other.
Leadership is a complex idea that is often is hard to define. Everyone seems to have different characteristics that they feel contribute to a good leader. Even though there is no straightforward definition of leadership, there are still certain personality traits, behaviors, skills, and motivators that people admire in a leader. The best example to show how leaders utilize these characteristics is to examine a prominent figure in pop culture, such as Beyoncé. Her life is transparent enough that we can analyze her leadership skills, and how they change in any given situation. Beyoncé’s impact as a leader will be analyzed in three different categories.
Winfrey’s early life was filled with arduous hurdles from the beginning, she was raised in a small podunk town in Mississippi that was anything but safe for a young girl, but on top of that she was raised by a single mother who was not around nearly enough. However the most formidable part of her upbringing was, she was sexually abused by ‘family friends’ and relatives on multiple occasions starting from the age of just nine. At twelve she was sent away to middle Tennessee to live with her father, there she realised her passion, she began giving speeches in front of her church and ultimately came to the conclusion that she wanted to speak for a living. Without her parents divorce Winfrey might have never figured out her passion of speaking to people until it was too late, this was a hidden advantage in the making of her success. However all too soon she had to leave the comfort of her father’s home where she could pursue her interest and journey back to her mother, where she was sadly yet again

Our world is filled with many successful leaders. The gift of being a leader can be learned; however some individuals have a natural born talent to be a leader. Each leader has his or her own unique leadership style. The gift of being a leader can be learned. Certain individuals are born with a charismatic style and can easily be a leader. A successful leader is one who can inspire and motivate people towards a goal. Martin Luther King Jr. was an individual with a born gift to lead people. Oprah Winfrey is not only the richest woman in the world, but she is also is known to be one of the most influential black women to ever live in the United States. She is a person “who has become successful and spread it around to those who need it the most” (Oprah 76). She has opened many different foundations to help others, For example, the Oprah Winfrey foundation. As if that already wasn’t enough she made a networking site called Oprah angel, what it does is help raise money for charitable causes around the world. In 2000 Oprah Decided to not only help others with Physical and financial problems, she wanted to go one step further. She published her own magazine called “O” that would give woman advice with how she deals with the same situations that woman do in their everyday lives. One of Oprahs greatest works is a leadership Academy that she established. It is a school in Africa that will prepare students for what awaits them on the other side of those doors. “It is a place where young girls will have the opportunity improve the quality of life for their sisters, and for generations to come” (Owla 12-13).
Owing to her previous remarkable speeches in television, she had built a positive image for herself as one of America’s most credible, respected and intelligent speaker. As she was ushered on stage, there was so much applause and clapping which was a clear indication that the audience adored her therefore making it easier for her to persuade them. In addition, after her acceptance speech, there was yet again so much applause and clapping and the audience seemed to have been extremely moved by her speech. Oprah Winfrey appealed to logos in the following ways. To begin with, she used her past experiences regarding her father who owned a barber shop. He would bring home Bob, Shorty, Bootsy and Slim home for dinner. This bestowed to her an ethical appeal since her past was evidence to what she was saying. When Oprah Winfrey said, ‘So, to be here tonight and be acknowledged as the first to receive this honour is beyond expression in words for me’. This was logical given that it was true she was the first to receive the award. Oprah Winfrey appealed to pathos in the following ways.
