A leader is someone who inspirers other people to do what they dream of doing, a leader is someone who takes charge and sets some type of rules , a leader is someone who is responsible and respectful to every one 24/7. To show leadership you have to know how to handle people and make people happy, but first you have to know how to handle yourself. In this essay I will be covering Oprah Winfrey and some other leaders that I believe describe leadership.
Three primary leadership styles are participative, delegative and authoritarian. I have more of the leader ship style or participative. I Love for everyone to put some effort into every group work project of life project I have. I’m not the type of person to leave someone out. Participative is

when the boss allows the subordinates to have a say in what happens. It makes the workers feel like they are a team, it also lets the workers know that the boss values the workers opinion. Oprah Winfrey is a leader that is very participative, she includes all of her staff workers on TV and off TV, she is a motivational speaker that involves everyone in her life and job and makes everyone feel equally important. Delegative is also known as liquid democracy, is a form of democratic control where an electorate vests voting power in delegates rather than in representatives. Bill Gates is an American business magnate, philanthropist, investor, and computer programmer. Who in 1975, Bill Gates and Paul Allen co-founded Microsoft, which became the world’s largest PC software company. Bill Gates is a man that is all about what makes the people happy on the internet, from what I can tell he is about the economy, maybe just because he has made lots of money from it. Authoritarian is favoring or enforcing strict obedience to authority, especially that of the government, at the expense of personal freedom. Xerox CEO Ann Mulcahy is one person that I know represents the word Authoritarian, she is a very hard working business women who knows how to run her company with authority and how to keep it running smoothly. I think Marin Luther king Jr, and Oprah Winfrey are two great leaders, that have the three primary leadership skills and more, such as respect for everyone.
They both had really big dreams that they made come true. They are so inspiring to me to do everything big I have ever dreamed of. Martin Luther helped stop slavery, he inspired the people to come together and fight for one thing. And that was peace between blacks and whites. There is still some slavery and judgment to opposite races going on but he changed the world forever. Oprah Winfrey is a person that has been helping people sense she could walk. And I believe that she will still be helping change the world just a little bit more every day until she just can’t plum talk anymore. Oprah is someone that puts her life stories and feelings out on the line every day to be an inspiration to others.
Ann Mulcahy is a successful business leader. She keeps her funding, staff, building, and the business all over run with authority and reassurance, she is able to let people know what she needs done and when to do it and at the same time, she involves her staffs opinion, she makes the feel like a team, she makes them feel like their opinions matter to her. And I believe that’s what all leaders should do, if you make everyone feel like a team you get a better response out of everyone and everything runs way more
smoothly. These leaders I talk about in the essay are all fantastic people who to me describe what it’s like to be a leader inside and out. Leadership to me means to inspire people, set a good example, and make people want to strive an do better while also knowing how to be the authority and let them know what needs to be done and when it needs to be done.
I agree with the quote. In my opinion, a leader is someone who can listen, without judgement and understand. A leader is someone who can inspire a change and who can empower that change to sustain itself. And, I believe that Oprah Winfrey is the one person who can justify the quote perfectly.
What is a leader? A leader is someone who takes command and leads an organization or group to success. Anyone can be a leader but in order to become a great leader you have to have to possess certain characteristics. I will be using Odysseus from the Odyssey isas an example of a leader who has suitable characteristics. You also have to know what harmful characteristics a leader may possess to determine if they are good leaders or not.
Based on the leadership survey, my leadership style is participative in nature. According to Huber (2014), this style of leadership is characteristic of a leader that takes part in completing the assigned task. When I
My style of leadership according to the quiz by Cherry (n.d.) is participative leadership which is a type of leadership that engages the members of the team to participate in decision making and problem solving while the leader makes the final judgment in the deliberation process. This style of leadership allows members who are experts in their fields provide input to reach a more effective and accurate decision. This fits exactly into my leadership style. I always believed that in every aspect there is a greater or lesser person than you are, so, why not focus on the best in others and tap on their expertise in knowledge or skill to get the best results.
Introducing Michelle Rhee battle over education reform in Washington, D.C’s public schools. According to, the Houston Public Media Michelle Rhee remains one of the most notorious education reformers in the nation. In Washington, Rhee’s direct style helped turn around a struggling district, but her decision to close schools and fire hundreds of teachers and principals also generated criticism. In according with New week, Michelle Rhee showed that she was serious about reform the schools, by firing more that than a hundred non-union central office workers, including administrators, and thirty six principals for not educating the students in the public school. Leadership is being able to direct or guide other people by either your own actions or by actually guiding them into the right direction (Acumen). Inspiration to be a leader might come from many different areas like your family, friends, peers, or even teachers. My inspiration didn’t really occur to me until I started attending college in August 2013. In all actuality I never even thought of how to be a leader until I was in Mrs. Moore’s Perspectives class. I now have a desire to be a great leader, and the inspiration has come from Mrs. Moore, and my family. I am the first to attend college out of my family, so in a away I have already started leading my siblings in the right direction. Being a leader means inspiring others to pursue their dreams, and aspirations and helping throughout the journey to success. Being a leader has nothing with authority or being able to tell other what, and how to do things, it’s about having people who look up to you and want to follow your example.
Leadership is all about having the right amount of heart and determination to help make a difference in someone’s life. It takes certain qualities to be considered a good leader. A leader should want to help inspire others to make a change and to be the best that they can be. A true leader does not need to feel powerful, instead they empower those around them. Throughout my life I have come across various leaders who have made an impact on my life. It takes a very special person to inspire and touch people’s lives. Leadership is so much deeper than having power and bossing people around.
A leader is described as a person who guides others and has authority and influence over others. They work to influence others into meeting certain goals. There is no right or wrong definition of a leader and there is no recipe that ensures effective leadership. Successful leaders have a good balance of vision, influence, and power. Leaders gain their authority from their ability to influence others to get the work done; because of this, anyone has the potential to be a leader. (Finkelman. 2012, p15)
For many years, I have been told by teachers, family, and friends that I am a good leader. Until fairly recently, I had never truly thought about what it means to be a good leader and just took it as a compliment. Leadership is an intangible concept which cannot be properly outlined in a dictionary, but one which must be formed and explained only through one’s own philosophies and experiences.
Throughout my life, I have been fortunate to have many opportunities to take on leadership roles, and to use these roles to influence others in very positive ways. After taking the leadership quizzes or survey, I was able to determine that my personal leadership style is Participative. Participative style is the leadership style where a leader gives team the opportunity to wholly take part in

What is leadership? Leadership is defined as a process by which a individual will influence others to obtain goals. Leaders will guide, direct motivate, or inspire others. Leadership is defined by not only traits but actions as well. Leaders are inspirational, trustworthy and charismatic. Many people may think a manger is leader. Although leadership and management go hand in hand, they are not the same. Everyone has their own beliefs about what characteristics an effective leader should have. To me, communication skills, critical thinking skills, and having a vision are few characteristics of becoming an effective leader. A leader is not only born, but made. Some are born as leaders or some are made to be leaders.
Many people believe that leadership is simply being the first, biggest or most powerful. Leadership in organizations has a different and more meaningful definition. A leader is someone who sets direction in an effort or task and influences or motivates people to follow that direction. The power point presentation explains leadership is the influence that particular individuals exert on the goal achievement of others in an organizational context.
There are a few different types of well known leadership styles, authoritarian, delegative, and democratic. To assess my leadership style I used two online tests to help me determine my style. I felt the results were accurate and I fall into a democratic style/participative style. If I am leading I prefer to include the group and get their feedback on solving issues. However, I still make the final decision after listening to the thoughts of the group on a particular topic. This is considered to be a positive style of leadership that is inspiring to the group involved. The leaders decision making tends to be more accurate due to the input of other experts. (Cite)
