Art is a way of people expressing their thoughts, feelings and much more. Art forms vary from drawing all the way to dance to a specific type of music. One specific art form that has overcome controversies throughout history has been fashion, this includes modeling, hair, clothing, makeup and more. Each artist from each of the different types of art forms are impacted differently by their environment, they can be impacted biologically, psychologically and/or socially. Looking at fashion artists like Rose Morgan and Ophelia DeVore, it can be inferred that they were socially impacted, influencing their stand in the fashion industry. At her salon different services were offered, specifically a large focus on hairdressing, different hairstyles, colors and much more. Ophelia DeVore, another artist in fashion, born in Edgefield, South Carolina on August 12, 1922 is known to be one of the first African American models in the United States. Ophedlia DeVore at the age of 16 tried out for modeling jobs and later attended the Vogue School of Modeling after graduating from New York University. Rose Morgan, founder of the largest African American Beauty salon, was a strong believer in beauty being found in everyone, no such thing as good hair, bad hair in her salon. Rose Morgan tells Essence magazine, “All the girls loved the shows because there was nowhere else they could show themselves off like the high-fashion models,” (Boyd). Rose Morgan's belief in beauty influenced large events for her salon. At the age of 19, Rose Morgan produced her 1st fashion show, which took place in the Renaissance Hotel in NYC, over thousands of people
