37% of people say 6th grade is the easiest out of all grades. Preparing for the first day of school shouldn’t be that hard. To have a good first day go to Open House , supply shopping , and think of a routine for yourself. If you go to Open House , supply shopping , and plan an easy routine , your first day should be as easy as pie! Open House is really fun. You can sign up for after school activities , clubs , and more. One of Carroll County Middle School's after school activities is CAVS. Cavs is a program where you can meet new people and opportunities to work on any lesson you need help with. What you would do at Open House is pretty cool to. First , you would go to a staff member so they can give you your schedule. Then you would go
When I got to 6th grade we did a lot more of switching classes which was sort of confusing, I got used to it pretty quickly. My 6th grade teacher was kinda mean, probably because I didn’t do that well on the English jingles. We started a day where we went into the library and read for a class period. I also started reading bigger books, because we needed more AR points, which are earned after reading the book and taking the test on it. I really liked the “Bone” series. Another series I liked was the “Percy Jackson” series.
Homelessness in the United States has been an important subject that the government needs to turn its attention to. There has been announced in the news that the number of the homeless people in many major cities in the United States has been increasing enormously. According to United States Interagency Council on Homelessness reported that there was an estimation of 83,170 individuals have experienced chronic homelessness on the streets of the United States’ streets and shelters on only a single night of January 2015, which is a small decrease of only 1% from the previous year (People Experiencing Chronic Homelessness, n.d.). The United States must consider this subject that most of the people underestimate it and not pay attention
Sidewalks are different shapes and sizes, people tend to make their own decisions to which way they would want to go. Going through the motions on a sidewalk is similar as going through the motions of life. There are many turns that could get you to your final destination and turns that can also get you into places you would not feel so comfortable being. Staying on the right path and trying to get to where you need to go isn’t so hard but when you have other sidewalks with nice grass and big beautiful street lights that can be a very big distraction to the eye and that could cause problems in your life. Nice sidewalks sometimes don't always tend to continue a nice path so they can be very believing at first but when you make it to the end
In “The Power of Situations,” by Lee Ross and Richard E. Nisbett, they claim that many factors come into consideration when making a decision. For their experiment, Ross and Nisbett grabbed laypeople and gave them a scenario. The scenario told to the students was if John saw a man slumped in a doorway on his way to a meeting, would John continue walking or would he stop and help the man? The majority of the people in the experiment only asked about john, questioning, what kind of man was he? Ross and Nisbett state that only asking questions about John has little to no value in finding out if he would help the slumped man in the doorway. Instead of asking questions about John, the students should have asked questions about the man in the doorway, Ross and Nisbett proclaimed. They argued that the way the man looks makes a huge difference in John’s decision of whether to help or continue walking. Most of the students thought that knowing about John’s
Homelessness is a condition of people without a regular residence. People who are homeless are usually unable to acquire and maintain regular, safe, secure, and adequate housing. Homeless people constitute a demographically diverse population, and the situation is a critical problem in United States. The homeless are known as “the wondering poor”, “sturdy beggars”, and “vagrants”. This condition often occurs due to poverty, but this is only one of many reasons a person can be homeless. In addition to poverty, homelessness occurs as a result of drugs, mental illness, disasters such as hurricanes, or even domestic abuse. It is not a criminal activity.
Homelessness is a subject that has inspired many to write poems, speeches, and even songs. However, there is more depth to homelessness than just a source for inspiration; this is an ongoing problem for many all over the world. The 40th president to the United States, Ronald Reagan, once said that "what we have found in this country, and maybe we're more aware of it now, is one problem that we've had, even in the best of times, and that is the people who are sleeping on the grates, the homeless, you might say, by choice."(Reagan). The president's expression is very powerful even today, implying that even in the best of times homelessness is one of the top issues in society. Notice how President Regan cleverly used the wording "by choice" at the end of the sentence, what did he mean to convey by this? Was he implying that those who are homeless are so by choice? Or that many individuals perceived homelessness to be a choice? Perhaps it was a way to raise awareness of the impending problems that can lead an individual to homelessness. According to the National Alliance to End Homelessness and the National Coalition for the Homeless, there are three triggering factors that lead to homelessness, lack of affordable housing, unemployment, and health care ("Why Are People Homeless?"). Therefore, when exploring into more depth the determining reasons, considering the key roles that a home, money, and employment play in an individual’s life will facilitate a better understanding of the downward spiral towards homelessness.
Imagine, it’s a frigid winter 's night, people rush around you on the busy sidewalks trying to find the perfect present for that special someone. You, however, are looking for something completely different. Looking for recyclable scraps that litter the street, you hobble around and try to walk off the numbness in your toes. The bustling streets start to empty out as it nears midnight, you too should go home. Therein lies the problem: you don’t have one. Homelessness is becoming a serious global problem. Cities around the world are trying anything they can think of to fix this epidemic, and the first step is to understand the full extent of the situation. The United States has a population of about 300 million people and approximately 650,000 of them are homeless on any given night
Interior design is becoming increasingly popular all over the world. There is simply nothing more enjoyable than to relax in your own well-decorated and organized home.
I am the type of person who likes to get involved within my community. I engaged myself into this particular program where we mentor young woman and sometimes young men on empowering their youth on making change in their community for the better. Twice out the year we go out and feed the homeless and spread wisdom among them. Every day I would give a homeless person money or change I may have. I came across the gentlemen one day, who told me how I would give him money and a reason to live. He also told me how I would tell him to keep his head up, things will get better. As of today he has his own car, home and a nice paying job. He told me even though he liked Spiderman, I was his superhero. Growing up, how I did makes me realize I could have
Overcoming adversity is imperative. In fact, you can 't have the happiness and success you want unless you have adversity in your life and overcome it. It is essential for progressing into who you want to be. It shows you what you are made of. It teaches you more about yourself, how to approach what you want, and how to maintain the success that you have. Without it, you wouldn 't know how far you could go or how capable you are because you wouldn 't have anything to push you or compare to.
The hallway is small, but the amount of people in it is not. Day after day they crowd; never failing to talk throughout passing time. They are oblivious to the traffic. A classroom is behind them--door wide open--the wider hallway is adjacent. Not one or two people linger, but a group forms. The already narrow hallway feels cramped and suffocating when they gather. People that do it may not know any better, but these actions are not productive. We must learn to correct them for the sake of ourselves and our fellow students.
Your home is your sanctuary. A lot of us do not take the time out to really secure our living spaces which means we not only put our selves in danger but our families too. Home security has become more than just about security your home from burglars who want to steal what you worked hard to acquire, home security has become more personal and as such it starts with the little things that we often take for granted like ensuing that the doors to our homes are secure. Most people cannot afford the 24 hours security company and the countless tech they always tout as the best security and alarm systems. The fact that simply locking your doors is not good enough anymore. You need that technologically advanced security system in whatever for it may
A first day at a new school can always be scary and nerve wrecking. Starting a new school can seem as if making new friends will be almost impossible. In the end a new school calls for new experiences and new friends.
Most freshmen like me that enter the school are scared. I think the first week of the school is the easiest since there would not be a lot of homework and what you need to do is to listen to what you need for the class and know other people well in the class. But I am wrong, as soon as you get seated on your assigned seat, new teachers start to introduce themselves and start giving tons of homework. As the bell rings, I start rushing to my next class hoping that I wouldn’t be late. The first day of school is always the hardest since you don’t have any new friends and you have to sit in the cafeteria alone when it is lunch time. As day starting to go by, I found myself getting earlier and earlier to class. Talking starts to increas...
