This story is mostly about a girl named India Opal Buloni a caring girl who wants friends, a mom, and her father to act like a father but she later learns that she can’t hold on to something that wants to go. She also learned that you should not judge people by their past but (if you judge people at all) you should judge them by what they are doing in the present
It all started when Opal rescued a dog (she later named Winn-Dixie) at the Winn-Dixie grocery store. She took one look at Winn-Dixie and knew he wouldn't last long in the pound so she lied to the store manager and told him that Winn-Dixie was her dog and to not call the pound. So since everyone thought the dog was hers she had no choice but to take him home. (which of course she

was going to do any way) when she got home she tried to convince her father to let her keep Winn-Dixie, and -with a little help from Winn-Dixie- succeeded! During that week Opal cleaned a very dirty, smelly and ratty Winn-Dixie up, and all the while she talked to Winn-Dixie. She told him about how she had just moved to Naomi Florida, all the friends she wished she had, and about how much she missed her mother. She also told Winn-dixie that she didn’t know anything about her mama and how she wished the preacher would tell her about her mama, and at those magic words Winn-Dixie looked up at her as if trying to tell Opal something”what?!?!” she said. Then she realized he wanted her to ask the preacher about her mama. And Because of Winn-Dixie Opal had enough courage to ask her father if he would tell her at least ten things about her mama, at first he refused but after much persuading he gave in and told Opal ten things about her mama: “#1, she was funny she could make just about anybody laugh.
#2 she had red hair and freckles. #3 she liked to plant things. she had a talent for it, She could put a tier in the ground and grow a car.#4she could run fast she could almost always beat you. #5 she couldn't cook she even burned water! #6 Your mama loved a good story especially funny ones. #7 she knew all the constellations, she could point them all out. #8 She hated being a preacher's wife.#9 She drank. she drank whiskey and beer and wine. #10 Opal she loved you, she loved you very much.
Throughout the summer Winn-Dixie continued to help Opal for example: Opal only met Otis because she was getting Winn-Dixie a collar, and Because of Winn-Dixie Opal got a job at Gertrude's Pets. Also Opal wouldn't have become friends with Ms. Franny if Winn-Dixie had not looked like a bear when he was standing on his hind legs and looking into the window of the Herman W. Block library. And last but definitely not least Opal would never have met Gloria Dump if Winn-Dixie hadn't run into her yard for peanut

butter. In the end Opal and Gloria had a big Barbecue!
They invited all of Opals Friends: the Preacher, Ms. Franny, Sweetie Pie Thomas, Otis, Amanda Wilkinson and on Gloria Dump’s insistence the Dew berry brothers. They were all having a great time but suddenly a big storm hit! There was thunder and lightning. Everybody was dashing around trying to save the food and the decorations. Nobody remembered to check on Winn-Dixie so he ran away with pathological fear.(or so they thought) Opal and the Preacher searched EVERYWHERE but Winn-Dixie was nowhere to bo found! They walked back Opal crying and the preacher sorrowful when they realized everyone was happy at Gloria’s house. How could they be happy? Opal thought. “We didn't find him!” she yelled. “Child.” said gloria “he has been here the whole time!” “AAAA...CHOOO!!!!” Someone sneezed. But it wasn't a person it was
Winn-Dixie!!! In my final analysis is I would rate Because of Winn-Dixie 3 ½ out of 5. But this is only because it is not the type of book I like to read. I prefer lots of action. I feel Winn-Dixie is the most important character considering that Opal would still be a lonely dogless, friendless, pretty much parentless ten year old girl.I think the most important scenes are when Gloria Dump teaches Opal life lessons. Though my favorite scene is when Opal and Otis run around and chase all the animals around the pet store.I think it is very funny. If I could ask Kate Dicamillo one thing I would say “Kate I really thought Opals mama would come back. Why didn't you make that part of the story?”
The story is about two sister who currently lives in America. It has to deal with moving to the United States in the 1960’s. Both sisters moved to the United States in hope to pursue their dreams and to achieve they goals with college and further education. Both having similarities in appearance and religious values. Both Bharati and her sister Mira had planned to move back to their homeland India after their education. This story relates to our point of culture having a major impact on how people judge each other because it has a huge impact on how people view the world differently because, in this example, I feel manipulated and discarded. This is such an unfair way to treat a person who was invited to stay and work here because of her talent” it is basically stating on how even immigrants (like the sisters themselves) who have come into the U.S., are sometimes given fewer benefits and rights than everyone else and that they feel discluded from being able to express themselves if they wanted to, or to have good thoughts that America is as good as people has said it was, with all this freedom. The last example is, I feel some kind of irrational attachment to India that I don’t to America. Until all this hysteria against immigrants, I was totally happy.” This demonstrates that it isn’t the country itself that makes people unsafe or unsure, it’s the people running it who try to put limitations
Innocence ripped away and replaced by premature struggling through life is what outlines Sold by Patricia McCormick. This historical fiction novel follows the story of Lakshmi, a thirteen-year-old girl living in Nepal. Desperately poor, Lakshmi can only enjoy simple pleasures, such as raising her speckled goat named Tali, and having her mother Ama brush and braid her hair. When the violent Himalayan rains tear away all that remains of their cucumber crops, Lakshmi’s maimed stepfather says she must take up a job, for he cannot get work. Lakshmi is introduced to the charming Bajai Sita who promises her a job as a maid in a wealthy area of India. Excited and full of hope to help her family, Lakshmi endures the long trek to India where her journey ends at the “Happiness House.” Soon she learns the frightening truth: she has been sold into prostitution. She is betrayed, broken, and yet still manages to come through her ordeal with her soul intact. Sold depicts a story meant to teach and inspire, making the novel a piece that is highly important for all to see and read.
As this occurs, the story takes on a comedic aspect from the view of the reader, and we lose our sympathy for Sister. Sister lives in China Grove, Mississippi, presumably a very small town with only a few occupants. She lives with her mother, grandfather and uncle in their home, being the center of attention for the duration of the time until her younger sister, Stella-Rondo returns home. The return of Stella-Rondo sparks a conflict with Sister immediately because Sister is obviously envious of her and has been even before she came back to China Grove. The reader gets clear evidence of Sister’s jealousy toward Stella-Rondo when Sister says “She’s always had anything in the world she wanted and then she’d throw it away.
However, as I continued to read the story I began to wonder if maybe Connie’s life was not in any way parallel to my own. I have a younger sister where she has an older sister, but that is where the similarities end. Her mother is always telling her that she should be more like June, her older sister. It seemed to me that June living with her parents at her age was unusual, but the fact that she seemed to enjoy this and was always doing things to h...

Her love was like a light; always radiant and gleaming, and those who got a glimpse of this light where forever captured by it. Neither afraid of love or afraid to love. She was forgiving and kind, kindness being her only weakness. She would often seek advice from me
She was the one who showed me all of the nice things you could see if you looked at things a certain way, she taught me how to laugh and how to be a kind and understanding person and when I was younger I thought she was the best that she could do no wrong but everyone does make mistakes and she also showed me that it was okay to make them and by making mistakes you learn what not to do next time.

...ir hero and raised her kids to be successful in everything they do. She raised me to be the one to get things done in a timely manner and see that I am reliable and trustworthy. She raised my brother to be hands on and work hard and get the job done. She has been the strongest person to push my brother and I through school and pushes us on even more beyond school so our lives are not as hard as having to “break our backs” throughout our lives. Thanks to her, I will make sure that I do not have to work as hard as she did to get what little bit she had. I will make sure that I live a comfortable and successful life. She will always be my motivation and my support. My mother was the one to push me through school and to go to college. I could not ask for a better person to be in my life other than my own mother.
She could explain anything to me and I would understand straight away. She helped a lot for my education and always was there to help. My parents knew that she could teach me and show how hard it is these days and how hard I should work. That is why they always made sure I saw her enough but it never was for me.
My mother afraid of I was tired, she made me fast food and take an orange juice for me drink. Perhaps when people did not know the maternal typeface has shown enough full, shimmering like moonlight. Now on all communication media, art, mother image even more honored but it was never enough to speak of sacrifice and love of my mother for me. Also had repeatedly faulted, after her mother’s stern look, I still get a part on by the tips rustic. Each time, seems to me more mature and made a promise to never mistake again. Now, when I grows up, I will promise to mother to live well to able to reciprocate the thanks she taught me.
