Online Vs Traditional Classes
In today’s Era, students now have the advantage of choosing to attend a College University or achieve their degree through college online courses. However, some major concerns associated with this major life decision, beginning with the difference in the learning styles. Even though most people would consider taking an online course because it’s flexible to your schedule and students would have additional time to complete the assignment that their giving, other than in traditional classes. To furthering a student’s education, teachers all come together in a classroom with multiple students to learn at a specific time and place. The courses the students are experiencing the teacher comes up with. Going to classes there are rules that students need to abide by. The type of instruction at a traditional school mostly teacher driven. The instructor knowledge in their lectures can have an effect on people to help them learn a lot better than in an online class. The presentation styles that teachers give are very successful in a traditional classroom. When students go to class, some teachers try to make learning fun, and give rewards to keep students coming back for more. Having to do school work online gives students the chance to do their assignments at any time or place, whatever is convenient to their schedule. The schooling online is private, and the type of instruction given a student’s driven. The student basically has to be sure that all their assignments are turned in on time, and read the materials the instructor provides. In my own personal experiences with online classes, I have found out that they are neither difficult, nor easier that traditional classes. The materials covered in online classe...

If you are planning to meet new people and expand your social and professional network, it’s important to take at least a few classes on campus. The reason you’re in class is to learn and develop new skills. From my personal experience it was very difficult without direct face to face input of an instructor. If you don’t learn well from reading out of a book or written material, then an online courses will be very difficult for you because online courses is based off of written material, and reading from a text book. The best way to learn for me is taken traditional classes because you can actually get the full effect of learning, so I suggest to others to take a traditional class.
However, when a student takes an online class the student and professor are at a disadvantage of building an interpersonal relationship. For example, a professor is unable to read the nonverbal cues of a struggling student through a computer screen or is unable to tell if a student is experiencing a true emergency. Just as, a student is unable to read their professors nonverbal cues that a particular chapter or assignment is vital to passing the course. I have taken classes on campus and online classes for three semesters now and have learned that regardless of class format a student needs to be dedicated, structured, self-motivated and not afraid to ask questions. A disadvantage of taking an online class is if a web portal is not working properly.
Learning, like religion, is a social experience.” Currently, I have a class that I am enrolled in, often I find myself asking “Why I am in this class?” I learn nothing from this lady, her notes are continuously blurry, and every single student is unable to read them. She talks in circles and expects everyone to be able to follow. Personally, I wish I would have taken an online course for this particular class. Everything I have learned in this class has been solely self-taught. To be prepared for the class, I pre-read the chapter we will be having a discussion about in addition to study the curriculum, still I cannot keep up or understand what is coming out of her mouth. I also feel that I am not the only one in class that is completely lost, which makes me feel better about the whole situation. Whereas I am also enrolled in another class, which I adore and value every single minute. This particular class requires an hour and forty-five minutes a day for four days a week. To think this class I feared the most when I enrolled at the beginning of school. Surprisingly now, it is by far my favorite! I have learned so much information in such a little span of time. It is truly remarkable, the change of mind I have had towards this subject! Credit is due to my professor, she is outstanding! Then, of course, I have this class! Comp 1, which as you know is online. There has been struggles, as I think I would have learned better with face to face encounters with my peers and involved discussion with other students and a professor, although I think I have managed to keep my head above the water so far. All- together, with only my brief personal experience given, you cannot say online courses are worse than an in class
Arguments can appear between morals and ideas that are discussed. Writing can often create arguments on the ideas the literature discusses. Orson Scott Card’s Ender’s Game creates a controversial argument about the morals presented in the novel. John Kessel’s essay Creating the Innocent Killer states that the book promotes bad morals. Both sides of the argument about the morals presented in Ender’s Game are flawed as Kessel and Card miss information that weakens their arguments and neglects discussing concerns.
One of the reasons for online courses to be offered in colleges is level of comfort. In this case, students get less intimidated by some students around them in classrooms. Because there are students who smell bad and have rude personality, some students are likely to be uncomfortable around them and lose focus in class discussions. Additionally, students, especially ESL students who have a hard time speaking and writing in English can think longer than usual about what they want to say before saying it to avoid the usage of wrong grammar. Moreover, with online classes, students get more involved in discussions. Those students who are shy, quiet, and hesitant are likely to participate. As a result, they become more open, less shy, and more comfortable in discussions. According to Sara Cordell, a professor of English at the University of Illinois-Springfield, students attend and listen in her online class; furthermore, because students enjoy speaking with each other, and typing to each other, they get to engross actual time with other students as much as with her which fascinates her (Abramson). In brief, the major reason for more online courses to be offered in colleges is the comfort level of students because not all students are comfortable with other students around them in classrooms.
An area of great contrast between the two forms of education regards the student experience. For example, students may enjoy taking tests or listening to lectures in the comfort of their own home. However, this poses a major disadvantage of not being able to ask questions as they naturally arise. An online student may have to wait around for their instructor to respond to an email, whereas being present in a classroom permits questions to be asked and answered on the spot. Another advantage of attending a brick-and-mortar college is having access to classmates for study groups or help with homework. After reading several students opinions on their online classes, I have come to realize the overall expe...
Learning to be self-taught can not only help you in an online class, but can also help one throughout life. One can create minimal expectations to keep striving. Be responsible and participate in discussions throughout a course. Determination can follow up to one's accomplishments. According to Hawkeye Community College, pacing one's self can be a key factor to succeeding in an online course.
School has been in our lives for the longest time and it has always been a positive experience. It sets students on a path to achieve their education goal and stepping stones to a career! Now with all the advancements in life, students have the opportunity to do online classes. This is useful if the pupil is not able to attend school or their school does not offer some classes that they would like to take. Experiencing both of these ways of schooling, I have an understanding of the differences between the two. The major differences between online school and traditional school are the flexibility opportunities, the communication with the teachers, and the time management/discipline from the learner.
When students are deciding on where to go to college, they have the option of choosing between online classes and the traditional classroom classes. Today, some students are finding it much easier to maintain a job, family and start a college career, all by taking online classes. Although some students still prefer to stick with the traditional classroom classes, they still have the option to take online classes. Both online and the traditional classes will provide the educational requirements needed to obtain a college degree and opportunities in the work field. Although the online classes offer just as much as the traditional classes, they are completely different when it comes to teaching methods, course material and time.
There are some students who find it easier to work in internet classrooms and some others that find it easier to stay with traditional classrooms. I think someone may choose internet classrooms if they have difficulty interacting with teachers and other students. Some people do not like being in the classroom because they do not feel at ease around certain people especially those who treat others with disrespect. It is hard for a student to concentrate and learn a lesson when they have that kind of pressure.
Education should be one of the most important things in a person’s life. Most people are trying to achieve an education. It is stressful when you are trying to decide what school you want to go to. While debating on whether to attend college or not, many people wonder which education is better online or traditional education. As the cost of education increases a lot of students are choosing online education because its’ flexibility. If you look at it from both point of views you are accomplishing the same thing from both, which is a degree. Some people look at the cost of the school to see if they will go to school there. When you going by means of the cost of how much it will be for the degree you are trying to achieve you have to look at the salary you will be making with the major you are pursuing. Online and traditional education has a lot of similarities and differences.
Today’s generation is like no other. The nation as a whole has completely evolved from past times, with technology being one of the greatest improvements. Traditionally, schooling takes place in a classroom setting, but, with the many modifications in our world’s system, we are able to assimilate more modern means of education, such as online learning. However, with many changes comes differences and requires adjustments. The online learning system has proven to be just as effective as traditional learning, with some minor differences, however, nothing of great significance. A few of those insignificant differences include online learning being convenient, especially for the non-traditional students,
Distance learning, sometimes called e-learning, is a formalized teaching and learning system specifically designed to be carried out remotely by using electronic communication. People could find out distance learning on the internet or searching form the school, sometimes teachers would introduce the best or the most credibility distance learning web. Such as class.com and University of Phoenix, etc. Distance learning is less expensive and is not constrained by geographic considerations; it offers opportunities in situations where traditional education has difficulty operating. Students with scheduling or distance problems can benefit, as can employees, because distance education can be more flexible in terms of time and can be delivered virtually anywhere. Under the unified leadership of the distance learning education, the modern distance learning education work gradual increase the number of school has now reached a certain scale. However, not every school or any distance learning education has clear idea for the modern education. Many people have differences understandings and it formed a big deviation. It can be said, for the purpose of developing the distance learning education and the hopes has not formed a consensus, which leads to very often difficult to form in the actual work force.
The following article is a study on the effectiveness of online courses and their effectiveness in both teacher-guided assistance and non-guided learning. The author stated the problem of online learning for students, as being the distractions of the internet itself; online shopping, gaming and social networking. While two advantages of online learning includes the convenience of studying at a place of choice and independent work, students are challenged in staying focused or being disciplined enough to continue or even complete their course of studies.
All in all, taking online courses has many advantages for a person who may want to spend more time with their families. Online learning allows you to have flexibility in order to keep things going the way it should go. Online learning has become one of the better ways to obtain an higher education.
Furthermore, some may suggest that online learning is benefiting our students in society. There has been a breakthrough in time and geographical limitations of education via online courses (Ho, 2009). Online education is cost-effective, efficient, and easily accessible (Schmeeckle, 2003). Online classes are used for individual and independent learning in which the student can learn at their own pace (Gonzalez, 2009). Not only is online education beneficial for breaking down barriers, online education has the potential to help students learn material more efficiently. Students are more likely to seek help from their instructors when the material is taught online (Whipp & Lorentz, 2009). Computer use in statistical classes could help decrease math anxiety (Gundy, Morton, Liu, & Kline, 2006). In a study that measured online students’ ability to achieve the same efficiency of course material as face-to-face students, at least 98% of students reported that they had, so one may be lead to believe that online learning is just as efficient as face-to-face courses (Liebowitz, 2003). With all of the positive aspects of online education, one may wonder why there is any debate as to whether or not online education is beneficial for
