Lauren Frida, a senior at Sumpter Unviersity, has been commuting for the past three years. She pays for herself to attend college and works part-time as an assistant at a physical therapy clinic. This spring semester, she registered for Mr. Mocels online Biomechanics 328 course so that she would not have to travel back and forth to campus as much and she figured she could put in more hours at her part-time job. She is one the most hardworking students recognized in the Exercise Science Department. Additionally, she impresses a lot of professors with working part time and paying for herself to attend Sumpter. She has never missed an assignment on gotten less than a B in a course; she always makes time for her studies despite her busy work schedule. Lauren decided to take her first online course to give herself a break from traveling to class so much and figured she could attain more hours at her job. Mr. Mocel, was the professor of the course who developed a very close relationship with Lauren last semester in the Exercise Physiology course. Mr. Mocel considered Lauren as one of his best students because of her work ethic and passion for physical therapy. Mr. Mocel and Lauren would often converse after class about her plans after graduation and started to become a mentor to Lauren. Hoever, Lauren heard that Mr. Mocel had quite a strict policy for his online course in result of all the dishonesty that was occurring among students related to online issues. Mr. Mocel had a created a policy intended for all online assignments and quizzes. In his syllabus, it stated that all quizzes and assignments will be timed and will have a one-time only submission. All quizzes and assignments that are not submitted before the deadline will receive no credit, along with any unexpected laptop/computer crashes. Mocel decides to let Lauren re take the final examination or not, either he or Lauren will end up with the disadvantage. If Mr. Mocel allows Lauren to re take the final examination he will be going against his policy stated in his syllabus. Mr. Mocel will also run into the dilemma of treating other students that had have the same problem as Lauren differently if he were to give Lauren another chance. Mr. Mocel might also face serious trouble with the dean of the department and school board if Lauren were to tell other professors and classmates that she had another chance to take the final examination; At Sumpter University, no re-takes for final examinations are allowed. Likewise, if Mr. Mocel doesn’t let Lauren re-take but gives her a passing grade instead, Mr. Mocel could possibly face getting fired even any of his colleagues or professional staff were to find out. If Mr. Mocel does not allow Lauren to retake the test, Lauren will not be able to graduate in the spring semester. Her relationship with Mr. Mocel will be ruined and she will have to re-take the entire course because of one stupid online failure. With re-taking an online course, Lauren will have to work more hours at her part time job and halt her graduation plans in order to pay for the tuition fees and cost that a 3 credit course

Learning, like religion, is a social experience.” Currently, I have a class that I am enrolled in, often I find myself asking “Why I am in this class?” I learn nothing from this lady, her notes are continuously blurry, and every single student is unable to read them. She talks in circles and expects everyone to be able to follow. Personally, I wish I would have taken an online course for this particular class. Everything I have learned in this class has been solely self-taught. To be prepared for the class, I pre-read the chapter we will be having a discussion about in addition to study the curriculum, still I cannot keep up or understand what is coming out of her mouth. I also feel that I am not the only one in class that is completely lost, which makes me feel better about the whole situation. Whereas I am also enrolled in another class, which I adore and value every single minute. This particular class requires an hour and forty-five minutes a day for four days a week. To think this class I feared the most when I enrolled at the beginning of school. Surprisingly now, it is by far my favorite! I have learned so much information in such a little span of time. It is truly remarkable, the change of mind I have had towards this subject! Credit is due to my professor, she is outstanding! Then, of course, I have this class! Comp 1, which as you know is online. There has been struggles, as I think I would have learned better with face to face encounters with my peers and involved discussion with other students and a professor, although I think I have managed to keep my head above the water so far. All- together, with only my brief personal experience given, you cannot say online courses are worse than an in class
McGee scores work in an unusual way, for he makes every assignment out of one hundred points. Unlike the other classes at Worland High, all exams are equal in value as the homework. The helps encourage the students to do the outside of class work, since there more of the read write packets than exams the packets are worth more because of their numbers, but they are the same value as the exams, so don’t expect to pass the class by just doing well on the exams. This scoring is also applied to the AR test and the My Access papers. One really lucky thing that McGee does do for his more carefree seniors is his no fail policy. This policy is that if you do the minimal work that is required then you will get a score of sixty which will get that senior to at least a passing grade, way to go

According to the course syllabus the instructor’s late policy states timely submissions of assignments and meeting established deadlines is essential in the course. In the beginning of the year I had 6 classes, out of 8 periods, none of which were athletic training; this was the first challenge I faced. Without athletic training as a class I would feel less confident going into college with an athletic training degree. To overcome this challenge I went to my counselor, Mrs. Lord, and requested to have my schedule changed so that I could take the class. My counselor responded by saying it was not possible to change my schedule due to my AP class that I was taking during the period that athletic training was offered. I wanted to keep my AP class so I asked if there was anyway that I could make it work. Mrs. Lord replied with an option called independent study. Independent study allows students to take a class in an off period, they are the only one taking the class at that time. This allows for one-on-one teaching, which helps in a class like athletic training. This option being revealed to me helped me solve my first challenge.
During my undergraduate studies, I spent time exploring the field of exercise science. I endured laborious coursework that molded my character into a strong-willed, disciplined student. As I deepened my knowledge of the human body, my passion for working in health care evolved to new heights. I also grew a fondness for learning new material and concepts. By the end of my undergraduate experience, I knew how to maximize my personal success.
There are also many conveniences and benefits to taking an online class over a traditional, face-to-face class. Many students benefit logistically, financially, and from the course structure itself. Online classes provide the student with more opportunities to be successful in their coursework. Online courses can be completed based on the student's own schedule, provide for faster and less nervous interactions with instructors, and in many cases, are more educationally beneficial setting alternatives to traditional, face-to-face classes. In fact, Sixty-seven percent of academic professionals evaluated online courses as equivalent to as or better than face-to-face courses (Lytle).
When students are deciding on where to go to college, they have the option of choosing between online classes and the traditional classroom classes. Today, some students are finding it much easier to maintain a job, family and start a college career, all by taking online classes. Although some students still prefer to stick with the traditional classroom classes, they still have the option to take online classes. Both online and the traditional classes will provide the educational requirements needed to obtain a college degree and opportunities in the work field. Although the online classes offer just as much as the traditional classes, they are completely different when it comes to teaching methods, course material and time.

The students no longer have interaction with the college community, which may cause them to miss out on some important opportunities. There has been a breakthrough in time and geographical limitations of education via online courses (Ho, 2009). Online education is cost-effective, efficient, and easily accessible (Schmeeckle, 2003). Online classes are used for individual and independent learning in which the student can learn at their own pace (Gonzalez, 2009). Not only is online education beneficial for breaking down barriers, online education has the potential to help students learn material more efficiently. Students are more likely to seek help from their instructors when the material is taught online (Whipp & Lorentz, 2009). Computer use in statistical classes could help decrease math anxiety (Gundy, Morton, Liu, & Kline, 2006). In a study that measured online students’ ability to achieve the same efficiency of course material as face-to-face students, at least 98% of students reported that they had, so one may be lead to believe that online learning is just as efficient as face-to-face courses (Liebowitz, 2003).
