The world of dating across the board throughout different civilizations has changed dramatically over the last century. Some may argue that in today's society, it is nonexistent and has been replaced by what many young people refer to as "hooking up." With the advent of new technologies (e.g., cell phones, instant messaging, video chatting, etc.) and the changing definitions of traditional dating and families, "dating" has become a more open and self-interpreted institution over the century. This essay will focus on the various categories and stages of dating, and the recent dating trends.

The six types of dating are online, speed, blind, double, casual, and serious dating. Online dating is where people meet and get to know each other over the Internet instead of in person. People often chat, email and exchange photos online. Once a connection is made, people will often arrange an in-person meeting. Online dating is convenient for a lot of people, especially those who are constantly on the go. There is many online dating such as Tinder, Match, and iHookup. Speed dating is generally set up by an organization or dating service. People arrive at a designated location and quickly spend one-on-one time with other dating candidates. Time spent with each dating candidate varies from 5 to 10 minutes. Speed dating allows people to meet a lot of dating candidates in one setting to see if one or more of them are suitable matches. Blind dating is where two people who do not know each other are set up by someone else to go on a date. Blind dates are usually set up by friends, family or co-workers. You can ask your friend to set you up on a blind date, or it could come as a surprise. Don't hesitate to let others know what you're looking for. That way, your blind date isn't so

Many young teenagers begin to date at a much earlier age. Many of them meet a boy or girl whom they like and begin to form a much closer relationship. However, most teenage relationships often do not work and both or one person gets hurt and often depressed. Today many relationships begin to form online. Many teenagers use the internet to connect with friends in social network sites, but now more than half of the teenage population in the United States are using social networking sites to connect and meet their special someone online.
Dating really changed in the few last years and meeting people online became not uncommon or just for young people only. But everyone now can use it to find their dates and meet new people.
Dating use to be simple. Two people get to know each other, go on a few dates, and then one day they decide to be boyfriend and girlfriend. However, this doesn't seem to be the case anymore. The term “Dating” is getting used less every day. Dating is a thing of the past because it takes a longer process for two people to determine if they are ready to commit, the term “talking” has replaced the word dating, and because people don't stay fully committed to one person anymore.
