One Direction is an English-Irish pop boy band hailing from London. The group comprises of Louis Tomlinson, Zayn Malik, Liam Payne, Niall Horan, and Harry Styles. After meeting and finishing in third place on The X Factor during the 7th season of the British singing competition in 2010, the band signed with Syco Records, Simon Cowell’s label. They achieved international success with the help of social media platforms like Facebook and Twitter. Their three albums, Up All Night, Take Me Home, and Midnight Memories, topped charts worldwide, as did their hit singles, including "What Makes You Beautiful" and "Story Of My Life" (Dare to Dream, 4). Louis William Tomlinson, originally known as Louis Troy Austin, was born on December 24, 1991, in Doncaster, South Yorkshire, England. He had minor roles in a TV film called If I Had You and BBC's Waterloo Road. Louis worked various jobs, including at a movie theater and as a waiter in the hospitality suites at Doncaster Rovers football stadium. During his time at Hall Cross, he participated in several musical productions, including the lead role of Danny Zuko in the school's production of Grease, which inspired him to audition for The X Factor. Louis has cited British actor Robbie Williams as his biggest idol (Dare to Dream, 21-22) and has praised singer Ed Sheeran, calling him "phenomenal" (Maerz, 59). Zayn Javadd Malik was born on January 12, 1993, in Bradford, West Yorkshire, England. His father, Yaser Malik, is British Pakistani, and his mother, Tricia Malik, is of Irish and English descent. Due to his mixed heritage, Zayn felt like he did not fit in at his first two schools.
By going to as many concerts as they can, fans help the band sell more and you help themselves look and feel like a bigger fan. I personally went to all of their bay area concerts and had to drive down to Pasadena, CA for one when they didn 't have a show here. This made me feel and seem very devoted to the band . Socializing is another big thing in the community of directioners, it helps you meet more people in the same community and creates friendships. For example, just last week I visited a friend in Stanford University who I met through One Direction and I 've made many other online friends that i have more in common with than people around me. Many fans devote their time to fan accounts that they have created to be able to connect with fans and talk about their problems and also talk about the bands
It was said that he thought he was born on July 4, 1900 (Armstrong 7). While Louis was still an infant his father, William Armstrong, abandoned his family. He spent the first years of his life living with his Grandmother since at the time his parents were going through a separation. At age 5, he moved into a home with his mother and sister, Beatrice, whom he called Mama Lucy. He grew up in a rough section of New Orleans. They were incredibly poor and did not have enough money. He would work different jobs just to take care of his family. Louis would work anywhere that he would be able to find work. He would sing on the street, which would result in his nickname, Satchelmouth that would be shorten to Satchmo. His nickname was a result of him having a wide

Louis Armstrong was born in New Orleans, Louisiana on August 4, 1901 to Mayanne and William Armstrong. His father abandoned his family during Louis' infancy. Louis spent the first years of his life with his grandmother, Josephine Armstrong. After age five, Louis moved back with his mother and his sister, "Mama Lucy." The family was forced to live in stark poverty. Louis got into some trouble when he was just 12 years old and was placed in the Waif's Home for Boys. It was there that he first received musical instruction and learned to play the coronet. He was released from the Waif's Home in June of 1914. He worked selling papers, unloading boats, and selling coal from a cart. Joe Oliver, one of the finest trumpet players in New Orleans, was Louis' music teacher and mentor. Louis married Daisy Parker, a prostitute from Gretna, Louisiana in 1918. He joined the Kid Ory Band after Joe Oliver moved to Chicago. In 1922, Louis moved to Chicago to play in the band Joe Oliver's band, " King Oliver." It was there where he separated from his wife, Daisy. He made his first recording with the band in one year later in Richmond, Indiana. He later married Lil Hardin, a pianist in the King Oliver's Creole Jazz Band. He moved to New York City in 1924 to join the Fletcher Henderson Orchestra at the Roseland Ballroom. During that time he also did dozens of recording sessions with numerous Blues singers including Bessie Smith's 1925 classic recording of "St. Louis Blues." He also recorded with Clarence Williams and the Red Onion Jazz Babies.
The beach boys clearly accomplished this. During the British Invasion, they were one of the few bands to stay on top. Not only did they lead the charts but they also sparked innovation and transition ideas. People began to step forward and artists began to write songs about the troubling times they were going through. From sexual freedom or drugs or black pride, all these issues were being targeted through music. The Beach Boys also are credited for helping in the psychedelic era. This era based between the 1960s and the 1970s was the time for social, musical, and artistic changes with the help of psychedelic drugs. The sound of The Beach Boys belonged to many genres of music. All this included surf and hot rod music, progressive rock, power pop and chamber pop. The bands also emphasized political and social awareness. With the help of Brian Wilson, who was considered the most innovative and significant songwriters, they were made Americas first, best rock band.
When you almost any young kids, teenagers, or even young adults to define rock ‘n’ roll and who they believed are the pioneers of this genre, you shouldn’t be too surprised by the answer you receive: Elvis Presley, Nirvana, Rolling Stones, or Little Richard. The combination of sexuality, gyrating hips, and the chance to rebel against parents are all factors that made rock ’n’ roll successful, but blissfully unaware, a lot of people do not know that Rhythm and Blues (R&B) was actually a huge part of creating this new music genre, and that rock ‘n’ roll also signified a big change for African Americans in the 1950s.
I Get Around was a number on hit in May of 1964. This was the first of many Beach Boys number of hits.
Like “no phun intended” “regional at best” is the first album that new drummer, Josh Dun, had played in. After Chris and Nick left, Josh left his former band, house of heroes, to help Tyler. Regional at best was released on july 8, 2011 and at this point they weren't signed either, so the album just floated around on the internet. Initially in 2012, Twenty One Pilots were signed by the record label “Fueled By Ramen.” Some of the artists signed by the same label are Paramore, Panic! At The Disco, Fall Out Boy, and many more. After being signed, Twenty one pilots lost custody over the album so it is not on itunes and many other platforms, and can mostly be found on youtube. The 15 song filled album has few songs that have similar lyrics, beats, and concepts as new music by the
Currently the band consists of four members, each one an original to the foundation of the band, but when the group was originally created there were three other participants. Larry Mullen Jr. had posted an advertisement at Mount Pleasant Comprehensive School, where he and the others went, for musicians to audition for a yet-to-be-named band (Kootnikoff, p. 3). What I found most interesting about their early years was that, while most bands that are formed by teenagers are “garage bands”, this band was established in Larry Mullen’s kitchen back in the ‘70s. Additionally, despite The Edge and Adam Clayton being born in England the band is considered Irish, though there have been various awards given to U2 that claim them to be the best British something-or-other. Ultimately, they were founded in Dublin, Ireland where they all met through their school. Today, U2 consists of Bono also known as Paul David Hewson, The Edge also known as David Howell Evans, Larry Mullen Junior, and Adam Clayton. However, the three other men that responded to Larry’s advertisement with the others were: Dik Evans, the older brother of The Edge; and two friends of Larry’s- Ivan McCormick and Peter Martin (Chatterton, p.130). This band would be called Feedback and eventually lead to the amazing rock group we know and l...
In early 1970 the band Queen was formed. Freddie Mercury on vocals, Brian May on guitar, Roger Taylor on drums and Mike Gross on bass. They had known each other for years. All living in the town of Kensington in Britain, sometimes even living together. Brian and Roger belonged to a band called Smile, and Freddie was a very talented vocalsit playing for the band Ibex. They decided to join forces, to better themselves, and their chances of obtaining fame and fortune. After a few months with only a few gigs Mike Gross left the band. He was replaced by Barry Mitchell, who only played a few gigs with them. After a few short months they were looking for their third bass player. Roger, was at a party one night and was introduced to John Deacon, an electronics major at the University of London and a good bass player. The two hit it off, and Deacon became the new member of Queen.
When Rock arrived on the music charts in the 1950's, a merging of African-American and White music, it made a huge impact on society. As a general rule I am not heavily into music, but I was drawn to Rock for some inexplicable reason. It is just the music I like. This genre will be difficult to write about because the origin of Rock is unclear; there are traces of Rock's style back into the 19th Century. It is also a very broad subject and I will have to compress a lot of information into as few pages as possible. Be that as it may, Rock is, in my opinion the best music genre on the charts.
Have you ever had those certain catchy songs that you just can not get out of your head? For me Taylor Swift is always at the top of my playlist. Taylor Swift was born on December 13, 1989 and grew up on a small tree farm. Swift has has a family background of singing in her family. Ever since she started recording her albums. she has written and performed all of her songs. Swift started becoming successful at a young age by performing and writing new songs whenever she got the chance. When Swift was 11 years old, she performed the national anthem at a Philadelphia 76ers NBA game. (“Facts”) The contributions to music demonstrated by the career of Taylor Swift prove beyond a doubt the Country Music Hall of Fame should induct this singer. Swifts worthiness of this award is shown in her awards, charitable contributions, and impact up on the music world and all of her fans.
Yet, I also remembered how good it felt being able to run a mile. While the person I hated is barely breathing. Nailing my solo, or any part that is considered hard. I remembered how much I love my sock tan. How fun competitions were. This band; although they might be dysfunctional, is my family. I’m proud that I didn’t give
