Oncology Nurse Scholarship Essay

In my future career I would want to go into the medical field. This way I could be able to help people in the community and also put a smile on families faces. I want to be of service and give back to the people that have helped me. For my project I really wanted to see what a paramedic does on a day to day basis. I really like the subject because I just love the medical field in general. I have seen what it has done for my family and also for those around me. I love learning about the human body and knowing what to do in case of emergencies. I have had the opportunity to take a first aid class and it really sparked an interest me in what I want to go into.
For my project I contacted and job shadowed Chris Lowry. He agreed to be my supervisor. I loved doing this because I would like the first person experience that his job gives. Doing this senior project made me interested in the profession of Oncology Nursing. Oncology Nurses are very special in that they care for patients within a different way; from the different effects of their cancer, the type of cancer , and the treatment they get the patients have. The patients should always be the number one focus. The patients are people who need help; they are real, have feelings, and opinions. They are real people with families and loved ones. Patients have families and you need to be respectful to families. Pediatrics is basically all about children, and their health.
