Oprah Winfrey, Beyonce Knowles, Justin Beiber, Bill Clinton, Hillary Clinton, Zac Efron, and Taylor Swift are all the oldest child in their family (Famous First Borns, Pressner, 1). Each of them has special traits that helped them get to where they are. Almost every oldest child possesses these attributes. They obtain them through their parents’ actions and siblings. These traits can help them succeed in life, but can also burden them. The oldest child is a responsible leader who is an overachiever.
The oldest child owns strong leadership characteristics. When the oldest child gets younger siblings, they have the chance to become a leader (Renkl, 2). They take care and lead their siblings while the siblings look up to the oldest child. As a result, the oldest child develops leadership skills (Teague, 2). This trait can be beneficial or harmful. Leading their siblings can boost their self-esteem (Renkl, 2). Also, the oldest child likes to be in charge of projects, and they like it when people stick to rules and order (Pressner, Whitbourne, 1). They want to be in charge and in control of what is happening. The oldest child may want people to do something a certain way. When people do not listen, they get upset. They can be bossy and controlling because of their leadership skill (Anders, 2). This can give the oldest child trouble with making friends (Renkl, 2). Some oldest children may feel like everyone relies on them (Birth Order, 5). This attribute may seem bad as a child, but it will serve them well as an adult. The firstborn is most likely to take a leadership position. George Washington, John Adams, Thomas Jefferson, Abraham Lincoln, Theodore Roosevelt, Woodrow Wilson, Franklin D. Roosevelt, Bill Clinton, and George W. Bush are...

Lorraine Hansberry’s “A Raisin in the Sun” is a play that depicts the strong will of the Youngers, an African-American family, who overcome racial discrimination and economic hardship while living in the south side of Chicago during the 1950’s. Within the Younger household there are three generations of women who each have a distinct personality to bring to the table. Mama, who is in her sixties, is the head of the household, Ruth, who is in her thirties, is married to Mama’s son Walter and is the mother of Travis, and Beneatha, the youngest of the three in her twenties, is going to school to pursue a career as a doctor. All three of these women are beautiful and strong in their separate ways. Because they are independent and strong-willed, their personalities all complement yet contradict each other. The younger women’s diverse yet comparable personalities were shaped by popular media and events during their young adulthoods in three different generations: the 1920’s, the 1940’s and the 1950’s.
The traits that show that she is the oldest, is that she is: high achieving, protective, directive, aggressive, conscientious, organized (on the outside), emotionally intense, strict, and anxious. At the beginning of the movie, Helen can be seen as quite strict with her children, however, towards the end of the movie she understand’s her children more and therefore becomes less strict in her parenting methods. First of all, Helen is obviously a high achiever. She is the manager of a bank, so she is quite successful in her career. She also has a fairly large house, which also shows that she is quite successful.
As the oldest, there’s greater inherent responsibility, and then there’s the addition of both my parents’ active-duty military service. My mother and father are both exceptional leaders, and they’ve instilled a sense of independence and generosity within me. If the number of deployments and out-of-town duties were lessened, I doubt my character would have developed as it did. In school and the community, I have always reached for leadership positions if I felt I was qualified.
‘Birth order theory can help explain why children raised in the same family environment with a strong genetic relationship can have such different personalities’ (Drysdale, 2011). The birth order theory says that ‘first-borns are leaders, the drivers and the responsible type. They love to feel in control and feel uncomfortable with surprises or feeling out of their depth. They are conservative in their outlook’ (Grose, 2013). The personality theory says that last-borns are majorly different to first-borns in their characteristics and traits. It states that last-borns are ‘the
Some disadvantages to being the youngest can include the fact that they feel no one takes them seriously. They may often have feelings of insecurity and have long periods of self doubt. This is caused by one minute the child feels like the "baby of the family" and the next minute they are being compared to an older, more stronger sibling. In contrast, the youngest child often goes on to become quite successful. Some examples of famous youngest children include, Ronald Reagan, Eddie Murphy, Paul Newman, Mary Lou Retton, Billy Crystal, Yogi Bera, Ted Kennedy and Kevin Leman
The patterns of birth order have been seen for centuries, although it was not studied exclusively until around the 1980s. There are many factors that play into a persons personality, such as their genetics, the way they are raised, and their environment. Birth order looks at a persons place in their family—if they are the oldest, middle, or youngest child—and provides commonalities between them and others in the same location in other families. While there are many variations, the general traits do apply. Research shows that the first born is typically a leader in the family and in other areas of life. The youngest child is usually light hearted and social. The one that is hardest to put a type to is the middle child. He or she will frequently try to blaze their own path, straying from the one that their older sibling made. I believe that birth order plays a part in a person’s personality, but that the way they were raised is also a very important variable. A child’s birth order, along with the way they were raised, is a major factor in the way they interact within their family and other groups.
Progression psychologists analyze the anthropological evolution and development that arise during the course of someone’s life as well as and not limited to bodily development but also rational, communal, intelligent, perceptual, disposition, and emotive advancement (Cherry, 2010). An individual’s distinctive habits of discerning, emotion, and conduct through specific environmental surroundings outlines by what method others observe them. Human beings progress during the course of their life, in essence from birth to death. An individual’s behavior is made up of actions that joint together make a human distinctive (Renner, Morrissey, Mae, Feldman, & Majors, 2011). This achievement of psychological progression comprises of a multifaceted collaboration of genetics and surroundings for the duration of specific phases of lifetime which lay the base for productive or unproductive progression.
Growing up in my family I was the first born of two children. For me this meant that I was the ultimate guinea pig for my parents, and therefore how I was raised was much different from how my younger brother was raised. I notice, now that I am older, there were many differences on the parenting techniques that were used to raise us both as individuals. Ultimately this caused my brother and I to be totally opposites. To this day I feel like birth order plays a large role in my family, and sometimes it is hard to watch my brother get of easy when I am living a more difficult life.
The eldest son receives more attention and is given more than the other two sons and wants to be respected as a great family.
What if you had the opportunity to see something you had never seen before. Would you take a camera? Would you go? Would you give it a thought? This is what goes through the mind of a person like me. More specifically a middle child, they put way too much thought into things. I am Josh, and I am a middle child. I’ve said it once and one more time wont hurt, being a middle child was hard let me tell you about me.
The Qualities of The Seventh Son The Seventh Son contains all the elements of a great fantasy epic at first glance. Centuries ago, a supernatural champion named Master Gregory (Jeff Bridges) defeated Mother Malkin (Julianne Moore), a malevolent witch. Now, she has escaped imprisonment and yearns for revenge. She summons her followers and prepares to unleash her wrath on humanity. Only one thing stands in her way: Master Gregory.
Intelligence has been commonly thought to decline as we get older, however this is a flawed belief. Countless individuals will argue that there are various cognitive processes that are associated with changes in the brain that do deteriorate with time, however there are also other brain areas that increase their activity in older age. I believe a person’s ability to perform certain tasks may become slower as they get older, but this doesn’t automatically mean that they are cognitively getting less intelligent. There are numerous ways in which intelligence can be defined, although it is commonly defined as general cognitive skills, this means that it is a mental ability involved in the capacity of learning, reasoning, perceiving relationships and analogies, understanding, facts, meanings, etc. (Dictionary definition). However Raymond Cattell (1963) argued that ‘intelligence does not generally consist of only cognitive performance’. Cattell and Horns theory developed in 1966 and emphasises that intelligence is composed of a number of different abilities that interrelate to form the broad term of intelligence. The main two factors are crystallised and Fluid intelligence.
I have had the luck of being the oldest of my mothers’ seven children, and the pleasure of having three of my own, and one step-son. I’ve spent a lot of time changing diapers, wiping noses, and kissing ouchies. I’ve carried babies on my hip that I’ve seen off to kindergarten, helped dressed for the first school dance, attended their graduation, and even been there when they have had their first baby. I have spent a lot of time analyzing their behavior, moods, or lack thereof. I’ve concluded that there are 4 types of children, I have been blessed with one of each. The 4 different types are: The Superstar, The Kool Kat, The Lil’ Mama or Little Man (depending on the sex of the child), and The Rebel.
My best friend, Makayla, is the oldest of three children. She was the first, the one who made her mom a mother. When she would cry, mom would be there. When friends would fall away or hurt words would be spoken, mom would be there to discuss every aspect of the problem. So in the way of responsiveness, her mom was on top.
Guidelines to Selecting Toys for Young Children There are many vital factors that go into deciding what toy to buy for a young child. Choosing a toy can be fun and exciting to research, but it’s important for the person to follow appropriate guidelines. As far as safety goes, one of the most crucial things to look for when you are deciding what toy to purchase is how it is made. You have to check for hinges that could pinch fingers or skin, small pieces that can potentially fall off and become choking hazards, as well as sharp edges that could pierce the child's skin.
