Objectives and Concerns The Oklahoma City Thunder have been presented the opportunity to include a jersey patch partnership with a business of their choosing. Jersey patch deals can’t just simply be sold, there needs to be a relationship between the brand and the team. The jersey patch provides a chance to further increase corporate partnerships, become more involved with a business in the community, and increase team revenue. The Oklahoma City Thunder have narrowed their candidates for the patch to Sonic Drive-In, Paycom, and Southwest Airlines. Out of these possible candidates, I believe Sonic Drive-In would best aligns with the Oklahoma City Thunder. A partnership between Sonic and the Thunder can be beneficial to both partners in their pursuit to community commitment and brand growth. I believe Sonic Drive-In is best for many reasons. First, their corporate headquarters are in Oklahoma City (just down the street from (Chesapeake Energy Arena) which would show they are committed to local business. Second, this could create more activation opportunity nationally, while staying committed to a locally-based company. Whenever an in-game picture of Russell Westbrook, Paul George, or Carmelo Anthony appears in the media, Sonic will immediately be attached to the entity of these high-profile players. There are ways that both partners can mesh and create activation opportunities on both sides.
For example, Sonic is well known for their “Two-Guys” advertising campaign, and if the Thunder could tie their way into that campaign, it could create great exposure for the Thunder. Sonic has a target audience of typically middle-aged people who still want that drive-in feel like they had when they were younger. The Thunder have a target market for families and generally millennial aged people, and heavily promote being a unified environment. teams. Definition of Success There are a few different ways both partners could view success from this partnership. From Sonic’s standpoint, they could possibly view success as more national attention when being partnered with a brand like the Thunder. One of their new marketing strategies is to gain market share and this can be achieved with a partnership like this. The Oklahoma City Thunder would probably deem the partnership successful if effective activation campaigns can be created nationally and throughout the community. Also, both partners probably share the belief that if enhanced community involvement has been achieved, then that would be another factor to determine success. Summary There are many opportunities for both partners to benefit exceptionally from this partnership. But there are also some risks. Sonic currently has a goal of becoming a more national brand and attempting to gain a greater control of market share, and a partnership with the Thunder can help them achieve that. The Thunder have a goal of stapling themselves as an organization focused on unity and community commitment, while maintaining on-court success. Both partners have great opportunity if they can work out plans that can help achieve the goals of each partner while holding on to their values.

Due to vast improvements throughout history, human rights has allowed people to freely speak their ideas and beliefs. Also, the transition from a modernized society to a more virtual society has allowed people to express their ideas more freely and have access to news from all over the world. Thus, people are entitled to their opinion,ideas, and beliefs. However, all expressed ideas have counter arguments for example in religion people might share different views based on their beliefs but they still have the security of their right to maintain their beliefs freely. Since society has took a dip in the virtual side of living, division due to power has strengthened through the use of social media. This has lead society into a dystopia, where control by a higher power is enabled. More over, associations such as the National Basketball Association have the power to enforce regulations on their players to maintain power and rule. For example, in recent years the NBA as enforced a strict dress code where players can no longer wear their desired choice of clothing but instead dress formal when entering and when leaving the stadium. Thus, from this action a dystopian environment is created, players no longer can express themselves freely and if they do they will be punished. Such regulations have caused higher authority over people inhibiting them from freely expressing ideas and beliefs which is completely wrong. People, especially players who are so highly valued, should be allowed the right to freely express themselves on interviews or even when dressing . This is because those who are allowed to freely express themselves are much more comfortable and happier.
Ever since the Thunder has been established in Oklahoma City, the state has gone through many different changes that has bettered the well being. When one thinks about the impacts of major sports teams, the first thing to come to mind is the amount of money that the franchise raises. Overall, the impact of the Thunder has been a positive one; through supporting families and individuals in need by spreading faith, bringing more media exposure to Oklahoma, making the city more known and by bringing in more money for jobs and for the economy.
The Texas Rangers were absolutely abysmal last year, garnering the worst record in the AL, and in no way looking like a postseason team. Rangers manager had two options, and neither looked like a winning situation. He could blow up the team and try and rebuild it over the course of a couple years. But that wasn’t good enough for Daniels, he trusted his work years and years before, and he knew he had something with this bunch. So he stuck it out, made some minor moves, and boy has it paid off.
