Bryn Purin Johnson History May 14, 2024 The Ogden Hi-Fi Murders The Hifi Murders, also known as the Hi-Fi Shop Murders, was one of the most cruel and horrific crimes in the records of America’s criminal history. It happened in Ogden, Utah, on April 22, 1974. This horrifying crime has shocked the nation and even left a lasting impact on the community. This brutal crime took place in a small electronics store. Five innocent individuals lost their lives in a sickening manner. Today these murders still remain as a reminder of the evil that lurks beneath the surface of otherwise peaceful neighborhoods. Ogden, Utah, is nestled against the Wasatch Mountains, a very peaceful place back in the 1970s. The Hi-Fi shop is located on the busy 23rd Street. Andrews and Pierre loaded their equipment into the van and left the scene. Three of the victims were murdered, two of them survived their injuries. Their bodies were found three hours later after Orren Walker’s wife and other son came to the store to look for them. Stanley and Michelle were already dead, Carol Naisbitt was taken in an ambulance to St. Benedict's Hospital but passed away before she got there. They didn’t expect Cortney to live, but he survived with severe brain damage that was unrepairable. Orren Walker also survived with extensive burns due to the Drano, and the damage to his ear that was caused by the ballpoint pen.
