The day has finally arrived! I had been waiting for this day to come for forever it felt like. I am no longer in elementary school. Today is the day that I start Junior High. I can not wait to go to school . I rush out of the house door to meet my friends as quickly as I can, bursting with excitement.
As I approached the front doors of the school with my friends, I was still bursting with excitement, in fact we all were. This was going to be the best 3 years of our lives cause we were in junior high and officially teenagers. The school was the biggest school that we had yet to attend, stretching for miles it seemed like. We saw all of the older, cool kids walking into the school and wanted to be just like them. Then there was the older boys and hoping that eventually they would notice us with our make-up on and stylish clothes. Finally it was time to go into school with my friends as we didn't want to be late on our first day.
Once in the school the excitement burst even more. It was so big, like a giant maze. There were so many hallways in the school and they all looked the same. Now is when my friends and me became nervous, as we all wondered how we were going to remember our way around the school, but also make it to all of our classes on time? My friends and me had to separate now and go our own ways, so we could all get to our lockers, to prepare for the start of the day. Walking to my locker all by myself, without a familiar face insight was making me nervous. What if I can't find my locker in front of all of these older kids or what if I forget the combination already? These were just some of the thoughts of worry going through my mind as I was walking down the long hallway all by myself. Well here it i...

...or High was not as bad as I thought it was going to be. Even though the school was much bigger than my previous school, I still was able to make it to all of my classes on time and all of the classrooms looked the same as what I was used to. I didn't have any of my friends that I already knew in class with me but that only helped me. It forced me to seek out to the unfamiliar faces in my classes for friendship. Then I could introduce my new friends to my old friends and we could all become friends. The best part of the day was the fact that I could choose what I wanted to eat for lunch, instead of getting hot lunch. AlaCarte was so good and they had so many different kinds of food to choose from. So yes I may have started out my first day of Junior High being excited and nervous, but at the end of the day I was just excited and looking forward to tomorrow.
The first stop was Monica’s class room. We walked through the never ending hallway, searching for Monica’s classroom like detectives on a mission to find a key to the unknown door. We found the Monica’s classroom and dropped her off. The next stop was mine. I found myself getting more nervous each step, I toke. Suddenly my mom and my dad stopped walking and told me that this was my classroom.
1. It's nothing like high school. I know, you're glad to get out of the same classroom all day, and that part is great, but don't think junior high is like senior high. You may or may not be exposed to new situations like peer pressure, confromity and stress and identity issues. However, this is normal because you're discovering yourself, it's fine.
It was a warm April day and all of the students were let out of school for the day. I went home to finish packing with the help of my parents making sure that I had everything and I wasn 't forgetting. I was excited for a week now to go on the trip to Washington D.C. with the whole 8th grade class for a week.
Wow, three years have passed and the last day is just as long as the first. Three years of hard discipline and learning to get used to homework every night. Three years of standing on the front steps waiting for my parents and saying goodbye to my teachers. I never thought the goodbye might be permanent. 6th grade came and I was looking up at those giant 8th graders, and now I guess I’m one of them. 6th grade, and I was saying hello, and now 8th grade has come and it’s gone from introductions to goodbyes as my last days as a middle school student wind down.
My palms were sweating, my heart was racing, I had no idea what to expect or who I was going to meet. I was never the type of girl to embrace new situations, I hated change and I wasn’t very good with meeting new people. I figured once I got to high school it would be my chance to start all over, turn the page in my book of life, and flip over a new leaf. I wanted to finally be the girl that fit in with everyone. I had imagined myself going to parties with big groups of my new friends, having sleepovers and doing all of the things cool high school kids normally do. I was certain that my high school career would be just like one of those really corny teen movies and I would live happily ever after with the homecoming crown and the boy of my dreams. I don’t think I could have been any further from the actual truth. Things don’t always turn out how they are planned and my high school dreams definitely did not live up to my high expectations.
We pulled up to the front of the school and got in the drop off line. As I watched students climb out of cars while saying goodbye to their parent(s), and walk to the front entrance I thought they looked like zombies. I kept thinking to myself, “What am I about to walk into?” I kept reciting in my head what my sister told me a while ago; “High school is like a horror movie to freshmen. The seniors are the slashers, and you are the victims. Don’t be afraid.” That statement never left my head. The bell began to ring. Everyone rushed in to find their first-period class. I had no idea where I was going. This whole place was all new to me. I looked at my schedule, looked at the room numbers, and looked at the buildings. I didn 't dare ask anyone how to get to my
As young girl with big dreams I imagined my senior year of high school to be one of the best years of my life. I imagined going to homecoming with all of my friends, being the captain of the varsity soccer and cheerleading teams, going to Friday night football games, going to Prom with my perfect date, and going on a senior trip with all of my best friends. I never imagined my senior year to be the way that it is. I am the new kid.
The first day of school finally came and I was so excited that I couldn't believe it was already here! “Wow, the first day of school came fast!” I
It started off like any other day I woke up turned the T.V on watched SpongeBob while eating my breakfast, showered, then threw on my typical 5th grade outfit which always consisted of a sports tee and shorts. Then after getting dressed I boarded my bus and sat in the back of the bus like the cool kid I was. I participated in normal 5th grade chatter talking about sports, telling corny yo mama jokes like “Yo mama so fat she sat on skittles and turned into a rainbow”. After we arrived at my elementary school Switlik I walked to my classroom with my best friend Johnny as the grades below us watched us walk admiring our one strap backpack technique.
I remember my first day of high school like it was yesterday. A lot of my friends were...
I awoke this particular morning to a sky, heavy with gray clouds, choking the welcoming warmth and light of the morning sun. The humidity was so palpable, it felt as though it reached into my naturally curly hair and twisted it into one impossible tangle with its own, moist fingers. Knowing I had to gain an education, I got dressed. I threw on my companionable sweater, hopped into my car, and drove, reluctantly, to the school. After heaving my backpack onto my shoulder, I slugged across the school yard toward the ominous, glass double-doors. The doors that perplexed my racing mind on a normal day with its unforgiving reflection seemed especially stern today, and my anxiousness and dread seemed to grow as the reflection grew with each
It was finally the first day of school; I was excited yet nervous. I hoped I would be able to make new friends. The first time I saw the schools name I thought it was the strangest name I’ve ever heard or read, therefore I found it hard to pronounce it in the beginning. The schools’ floors had painted black paw prints, which stood out on the white tiled floor. Once you walk through the doors the office is to the right. The office seemed a bit cramped, since it had so many rooms in such a small area. In the office I meet with a really nice, sweet secretary who helped me register into the school, giving me a small tour of the school, also helping me find
It was one of the most exciting and nerve racking days of our lives. Although we were finally leaving high school, the feeling of being unsure didn’t go away. The whole day was full of practicing for the big moment when the entire class graduated on to a new beginning. All the girls wore shiny bright red robes and the guys were dressed in a shiny navy blue. Standing there, I had no idea what to expect. Some things I were aware of, my friends were leaving and we wouldn’t be the same friends anymore. My role was that of being so aware of the future that I was too shocked to soak in the present; being a pessimist was my main goal and everything I was sure of became true.
Fun, scaring, exciting are the feelings of my first week of school. This is a brand new experience of my life having to leave my friends and teachers in middle school behind. New school, new friends and new teachers are all part of this new school year. This one is different though, it’s the first week of high school.
I opened my eyes at around 9:00 a.m.; I could not imagine that today was my graduation day. I was so excited to get ready for the day I had dreamt of for twelve years. I called my cousin Sandra to remind her to do my makeup because she is a makeup artist. I told her that I needed it to be flawless because I wanted this day to be complete in everyway. I took a shower to get ready for the hair salon because I was going to dye my hair red for the first time. I wanted a simple hairstyle; straight on top with curls at the bottom.
