Of Kings and Prophets by Melissa Wlostoski
Of Kings and Prophets is a new ABC tv show base on the story of the biblical king David. This time around, it has historical accuracy to its name which means the time that story could have actually happened during ,it is shown as a part of the story. Unlike, what occurred with the NBC show called Kings which feature a modern setting to the whole story which the show tried to loosely base it on. That take on the show lasted one season. We get a glimpse of how they present the character David in the first scenes of the show.
He is someone who takes responsibility for his actions and inactions. This occurs when a lion gets his flock when he has the job of keeping the flock safe. He does that by not having his father faces the possibility of flocking happening because of the tax collectors for not paying his taxes. Which he can not do because of the lion. He ends up putting fore a proposal to kill the lion

That more people will come to watch the show because of the character David. A few more things that draw viewers to this show. One being that show has the whole setting of it being filled with battles going on. Exactly like it said to be with the setting in the bible story of David. It also has Goliath features as the general to the Philistines who like in the bible story David will eventually face. He is not presented as a giant, but they do show him as a big man. To add to what else is happening in the show, David also manages to kill the lion with the slingshot. That is the weapon that he will use to kill Goliath. I believe, removing that from the storyline would been a bad move. Keeping it, had made the story be pretty close to what said to happen in the story of David and Goliath. I saw a press release that show the epic meeting of David and Goliath will happen shortly after this

Even though he was offered armor and a sword, he took only what he was used to: a staff, a sling, and five smooth stones. Before becoming a king, David is solely dependent on God. However, after realizing that kingship comes with many powers, David starts to rely on his will to overpower his judgment and knowledge of God and His will. Although it may seem like David’s sin begins at the moment he lays his eyes on the beautiful Bathsheba bathing on the rooftop, his sins actually begin many nights before when he makes decisions that turn his focus from the will of God to the will of self. Thus, David’s first sin of focusing on his own will, rather than God’s, leads to one sin after another which eventually causes a curse to fall upon David’s household.

During the time of the Judges, there was no central government, no one to fight for them, except God of course. To make matters worse, the judge heir apparent, Samuel’s sons, were corrupt. 1st Samuel 17, is where the story of David and Goliath comes from. In this story Goliath from the Philistine army challenged the Israelites to a one-on-one battle. Seeing as that Goliath was almost seven feet tall, nobody wanted to battle him. One unlikely Israelite offered to fight the giant, his name was David. The writing style of an author plays a giant role in expressing certain details and letting the reader become more drawn into the piece of literature. In the story summary David and Goliath, which we get from the first book of Samuel chapter seventeen verses one through fifty eight. This popular bible story expresses how a young and weak teenage boy named David can take down a giant with name of Goliath with faith in God. The use of different elements used throughout the summary such as diction, imagery, and language gives off hopeful feel because the main point of the story is for the reader to understand that anything is possible with God.

Let us start with this statement: I believe that new preachers and new people to the Christian Faith try hard to avoid the Old Testament. If they do, they only look at one section and struggle to connect all the pieces together. One of the issues that makes people uncomfortable is the prophets. First, there is a definite volume of them, and then they are divided into “major” and “minor.” I think at the core of our hearts, we are trying to understand the difference among the different biblical prophets.
