Odyssey Hero's Journey

All heroes starts with a journey for insist being stuck on an island with a scary military or fight off monsters to save the princess. There are different types of journey’s such as a hero named Oliver Queen, who got stuck on an island and fought off a Chinese military. Then got rescued by fishermen. Later, Oliver Queen becomes a hero and saved lives once he got back to the city he was born. When does the journey matter more than the destination?

Odysseus is improving throughout his mistakes by encountering lots of monster and places. ”Odyssey” by Homer is an epic poem about a man named Odysseus, who learns lots of life lessons and at first was high and mighty then learns self-control and patience when he reaches his destination. Odysseus at first didn’t care about his men, even when they were attacked by the Cyclops they told Odysseus to “ ...Let him alone!” Odysseus didn’t pay attention to his men and was dumb enough to reveal himself to the Cyclops. It states that,”

...how you were put to shame and blinded, tell him Odysseus, raider of cities, took your eye: Laterte’s son, whose homes on Ithaca!”(pg.574) But later on the journey Odysseus learns from his mistakes and becomes a more improved Odysseus. It states that,” ...after the blow his father bore, sat still without a tear, though his heart felt the blow. Slowly he shook his head from side to side containing murderous thoughts”.(pg.604) Odysseus is evolving to a preferred Odysseus when he told his men that he will keep them safe from the Sirens, so Odysseus volunteered to be bait for the Sirens. Odysseus has enhanced into a more sharpened Odysseus because even though he got a stool thrown to him he sits down and follows through the plan.
The main character was getting bullied and slowly losing his courage.

Later, he began to not talk to others “...with only a hat to cover [his] heart”.(pg.671) Then, the main character got help from his friend and showed him how to stand up for himself with courage. “Courage” by Anne Sexton is poetry about a boy that learns about his mistake of not standing up for himself. The main character slowly loses his courage because he is being bullied by others. It states that,” ...if you faced the death of bombs and bullets you did not do it with banner, you did it with only a hat to cover your heart…”. But his friend helped him learn to stand up for yourself with courage. It says that,” If your buddy saved you and died himself in so doing, then his courage was not courage, it was love; love as simple as shaving soap.” The main character later learns to fight with courage and has “endured a great despair” because of his friend who helped him out a little. He has courage by the age of childhood to

death.
The journey matters more than the destination when the main character of a story is fighting to become hero through his journey. “ The Hero’s Adventure” by Joseph Campbell and Bill Moyers is a interview about an interview with the two speakers talking about what makes a hero. The journey is what creates the hero to reach his/her destination. Some heroes need to complete deeds or trials to be called a hero. It states that,” ‘...the trials are designed to see to it that the intending hero should really be a hero.” That journey tasks or trials or journey can create a hero by seeing if the are into the idea of becoming a hero. The journey creates the hero because without the journey there is no hero.
The journey matters more than the destination because without the journey you do not experience what you did to get to your destination. The journey can help you experience what you think of things differently or help you improve on something. Some journeys might be simple and not learn much from it ,but every journey can get you closer to your long term goals.
