In the epic The Odyssey, the hero Odysseus shows many heroic traits, one of which is perseverance.
In the Odyssey, the hero Odysseus first shows perseverance when in the cave with the cyclops Polyphemus. When the cyclops Polyphemus eats six of his men, Odysseus perseveres by not stopping and giving in to the cyclops letting him eat everyone. In fact, Odysseus figures out a plan to escape without killing him because he realized that if they kill the cyclops they will die anyway because they won’t have any food.
