In the Odyssey, Odysseus is shown to be a good leader. There are evidence and details to support Odysseus as a good leader. Odysseus values intelligence which was part of what the Greeks valued at the time. He is strong willed meaning he is determined to do as one wants even if others advise against it. He also possessed great physical strength which for the Greeks, it was essential meaning it was absolutely necessary. Odysseus called himself “Nohbdy” to trick Polyphemus, the Cyclops. “My name is Nohbdy. .Nohbdy is my meat,” Odysseus to Polyphemus. Odysseus called himself “Nohbdy” to trick Polyphemus because when he stabs Polyphemus in the eye with a wooden spear, Polyphemus then pushes over the boulder and yells out to the other Cyclops that lived on the island for help, he does not get help at all and ends up making a fool out of himself. The reason Polyphemus made a fool out of himself it is because he yelled out, “Nohbdy has tricked me. .Nohbdy has ruined me!” which made the other Cyclops think that nobody had done nothing to him therefore, he does not get help. If Odysseus were to kill Polyphemus then, there would be no escape from the cave but, luckily Odysseus stabbed the eye of Polyphemus making him move the giant boulder for an escape. During this part, it shows how intelligent Odysseus really was because he was able to trick Polyphemus and the other Cyclops with just the name “Nohbdy.” Intelligence is one of Odysseus’s leader-like
