Epic Hero Do you think Odysseus is an epic hero? Odysseus was an epic hero because he would always defend his people. He also became an epic hero when he participated in the Trojan war. He was a Greek hero when he participated in the Trojan war. Odysseus was the son of Laertes. When the war barely started he did not want to join, he only wanted to defend his people.
