Child’s Overview The Child I decided to follow and observe is Ponijao. Her family does not walk around wearing shoes and because of that Ponijao doesn’t wear shoes. When she is walking it could impact her in the future if she wants to wear shoes. Also Ponijao is a part of a large family and that could help with her social development. She didn’t really have any play materials and didn’t play with any objects other than rocks, sticks, stones and what was found on the floor. Ponijao is very individual but she also Is very family oriented. The mothers/adults in Namibia usually nursed the children together because they don’t have access to suitable health care. The children usually wander off by themselves. I believe this has a big impact on why Ponijao is so curious and adventurous. She plays with her siblings, looks at them from a far distance, etc. Also, Ponijao was picking a bone from the dirt and chewing on it. In the western society we believe this can cause many diseases, and it can. But Ponijao is still developing well very well in many ways of development. The environment she is in right now plays a large role in her development because she won’t be able to experience certain things like the colours and shapes and sizes because they don’t seem to have the materials needed to determine that. Everything that we saw in the film were the same natural colours and didn’t have other colours and it would be difficult for her to later on understand the different
