If life teaches anything, it's that the human race has a superabundance of individual stories. Living in a densely populated city provides the choice atmosphere to partake in one of my favorite pastimes; People-watching. In doing so, I can observe different aspects and details of each respective personage that idly passes by, unaware that they are the object of my observations. Every human being has a distinctive cognizance of history, style, specific preference, belief, and defining characteristics that compose their personality. Although, these human factors make it difficult to judge people simply by a passing observation, I wonder what one would conclude by observing me. It's nearly impossible to remember details about one's infanthood, however, I can envision certain vague memories and flashes of seemingly random images such as snow, a brown Carpet, a black stuffed animal, a brick building, a rainbow sofa, and an overabundance of Russian elderly people. The earliest memory I can recall is one that took place while I was still in my diaper-wearing phase; I was in my "terrible two's", living in New Jersey at the time, and my family had just gotten home from church. My mom has elaborated further on this issue and explained that when my sister and I were little, they went through a phase that consisted of moving from an apartment to an even smaller apartment, to basements, to attics, to my aunt's house (a brick building), and, eventually, out of New Jersey all together to a "foreign land" known as, "Connecticut". It was in the very first house my family lived in while in Connecticut that I remember the "rainbow sofa" from; It was a big, two-part sofa that took up most of the living room in that 2-bedroom "house". However, the sofa wasn't exactly "rainbow" as it was black with little, colored details woven into the fabric; come to think of it, that was an unquestionably ugly sofa. Nonetheless, that sofa was more than just furniture. It was a playground, a trampoline, a pirate ship, a patch of safe ground in a river of lava, moreover, the possibilities of what that sofa could become were unlimited as long as imagination was present. That unattractive daybed held lots of memories and adventures, but they were short-lived as my parents replaced it after a few years; It's amazing how hard it can be to "say goodbye" to an inanimate
Northwestern University is the 12th best school in the country. It is located in Evanston, Illinois very close to the city of Chicago. There are many requirements to get into Northwestern University. The required ACT score for Northwestern is between a 33 and a 35 composite score. Also for the ACT you have the take the writing portion of the ACT. Does allowing children to watch violent television and what they see on a daily basis in their lives from peers and adults effect their actions, and thoughts? The answer is simply yes! When it comes down to the facts, children’s behaviors are greatly influenced from what they see going on around them. Children can be taught to be violent or they can be taught to be kind, they can be taught to be confident, or they can be stripped of their self-confidence, they can be taught to be great or they can be taught to fail in life all from observing how adults and peers in their life act.
Thinking about normal social interactions and normal social behaviors, I think of comfortable. When I sit down with a friend, a usual routine is followed, “Hey, how are you, what’s new?” (e.g. My turn, your turn). These questions between my friend and I include eye contact, attention, and facial expression. Usually, I feel that I give my friend my undivided attention. Other normal characteristics include: remembering what the person has just said so a comment can be made, as well as each comment is appropriate and in relation to the current topic. Moreover, the duration between each question or comment is short.
Humans are always learning new things every day of their lives, whether they are learning how to improve themselves or how the world around them works. They learn what is good and what is bad, what behaviors help increase their chance of survival, and what behaviors help get themselves a certain reward. This essay addresses seeks to evaluates diverse parenting approach by a parent-child observation. From observing developmentally appropriate and inappropriate interactions with the parent and child, I will learn how parents teach, guide, and influence their children. First, I will briefly describe basic Information of the child and parent that I have observed. Next I will discuss the parent experience with transitioning to Parenthood. Mrs. Smith arrived to her appointment on time, alone, appropriately dressed, and appeared to be her stated age of 54. Throughout the testing process, she was engaged, maintained good posture, eye contact, insight, understanding, awareness of issues, and discussed topics in an open manner. In addition, she spoke with a normal tone, rate, and volume. Mrs. Smith did not exhibit any issues with her hearing, vision, motor skills, or word finding. Her mood was calm and composed, which was congruent with her affect. In addition, she exhibited a logical thought process, and did not display any signs of psychosis.
I did my parent-child observation at a restaurant in Batesville Indiana. I went to a small family owned place called Wagner’s. I did my observation over Thanksgiving break after my family cut our Christmas tree down. This occurred on Saturday November 28th around 6pm. This is a place that I am relatively familiar with. I have been going there with my family every year since I was a young child. It is a pretty small restaurant. While one side has a bar, the other side is more family oriented. It is a child friendly place that has a small area that toddlers and young kids can play. It has coloring books and small toys.

The way that each individual interprets, retrieves, and responds to the information in the world that surrounds you is known as perception. It is a personal way of creating opinions about others and ourselves in everyday life and being able to recognize it under various conditions. Each person’s perceptions are used as a kind of filter that every piece of information has to pass through before it determines the effect that it has or will have on the person from the stimulus. It is convincing to believe that we create multiple perceptions about different situations and objects each day. Perceptions reflect our opinions in many ways. The quality of a person’s perceptions is very important and can affect the response that is given through different situations. Perception is often deceived as reality. “Through perception, people process information inputs into responses involving feelings and action.” (Schermerhorn, et al.; p. 3). Perception can be influenced by a person’s personality, values, or experiences which, in turn, can play little role in reality. People make sense of the world that they perceive because the visual system makes practical explanations of the information that the eyes pick up.
She had a distinct unforgettable smell that even oddly today, I can remember the smell. The 1st five years these were the happiest times in my life. This was a time when children could play outside while their parents watched from inside the home. My sisters and I would spend much of our time at our great-grandparents house. When my sisters would go outside, I would pull a chair up to the window and watch them play. I did not like being outside, it was hot, and I since I can remember I never been fond of flies. In the classroom I am observing in I have watched how the teacher and the students start and end their day by following different procedures for ex: attendance, portfolios, grades, and class rituals like morning meeting, transitions and end of the day procedures. All of these procedures and rituals contribute to the classroom culture and are parts of instructional practices. So when the students come first in, in the morning they have morning circle where they do attendance, weather, lunch choices, how I feel today chart and much more. Each student has a job during morning circle which rotates every day so not every student has the same job. So attendance is kept and done at morning meeting everyday which is important for the teacher to keep
I visited the Body Exhibition, which is located in Buena Park, California. This exhibit allows a person to get a deeper look the inside the systems of a human body and it anatomy. It includes the skeletal system, muscular system, nervous system, respiratory system, digestive system, urinary system, productive system and fetal development, circulatory system, and lastly the threatened body. This exhibit contains more than 200 actual human bodies that have been dissected and preserved. During my visit I saw many things that changed my perspective. While visiting bodies I observed the exhibit itself, observed the people around me and asked the tour guide questions regarding the bodies.
We’ve all been told not to judge someone primarily on the way they present themselves but by the content of their character. “You know my name not my story” is a common phrase that is thrown around in our society today. Despite the effort we give to not judge it happens subconsciously, because we are human. In this essay I will use my observation of others around me to better understand more about how we as individuals size up others based on their Socioeconomic status; a measure of an individual's place within a social class system; often used interchangeably with “class”(Ferris 2016). I will also use the perspective of a symbolic interactionist which explains social behavior in terms of how people interact with each other via symbols to help me better understand the idea behind class consciousness.
For my observation experience I went to Southern High School in Harwood, MD. Southern High School has a special education department for the students with disabilities. The teacher that I met with for this classroom observation was Ms. West. In the classroom there were at least four assistant teachers that helped Ms. West throughout the school day. The assistant teachers helped Ms. West co- teach the class and were there to help the students if they needed extra help. The school also has a couple of student aides that come in to help the teachers and the students in the classroom. There were at least twelve students in the classroom.
