Obamacare has been very detrimental to the national economy. People just don't like paying taxes. PERIOD! WIth obama's health care system it forces everyone to have insurance and who pays for it? Tax payers. Instead of putting it into the betterment of society like infrastructure or education it goes to old people who don't deserve it or the poor. My taxes should not go to the poor they should stop being lazy and doing drugs. Because of obamacare insurance rates have skyrocketed, the middle class , THE HARD WORKERS! Have to pay because of other people's incompetence. Insurance is a money making industry and this “affordable care act:” the mere tittle is contradicting to what they did. The topic that I am choosing to do is on Obama Care. I chose this topic because the idea of the government forcing people to obtain insurance is wrong in my eyes. I am interested in analyzing the validity for what has been said about this topic in order to increase my understanding about Obama Care. I am not an expert when it comes to Obama Care. I know that this is an insurance that is being provided through the government for the general public. I have read that President Obama never initially read the whole bill itself. I also know that people who cannot afford it, but make too much money to qualify for Medicaid are being heavily encouraged to get this insurance. Some of the common knowledge that I have found that the general public has about this subject is that some people are for Obama Care and think that it is a wonderful idea and that there are some people that are dead set against Obama Care. Younger adults, specifically college age and individuals that are in their twenties tend to be for Obama Care. The insurance is being forced upon individuals that may or may not want it. It also seems as though that the insurance being offered is pretty generic in terms of coverage. Some of the questions that I have that I believe will aide me in writing this paper would be the following: What are the pros and cons of Obama Care? What are the thoughts of Obama Care with the people of the government? As well as what are the basics of Obama Care?
Although the Affordable Care Act does potentially have some positive effects to it, like bringing affordable health insurance to uninsured Americans; the Act does also have “Section 1342 of the ACA makes taxpayers responsible for bailing out insurance companies if the need to do so arises.” (MacKenzie, Tragic Problems With the (Un)Affordable Care Act). Although tax payers are legally obligated to finance federal programs such as the ACA, there are many who do not believe this is fiscally responsible. “Economist Laurence Kotlikoff estimates that average rates of taxation would have to rise 56% to cover projected increases in federal expenditures.” (MacKenzie, Tragic Problems With the (Un)Affordable Care Act).
Whether we are in favor or opposed to the Affordable Care Act, it is important that we consider how it affects us and the world surrounding us. First of all, I find useful to mention what the Affordable Care Act (also known as ObamaCare) is and how it differs from any other healthcare acts. The Affordable Care Act provides Americans with health security by putting in place health insurance reforms that are supposed to expand coverage, hold insurance companies accountable, guarantee more choices to choose from, lower healthcare costs, and eventually enhance the quality of care for all Americans. It differs from other healthcare insurances because patients with pre-existing conditions can now be eligible to receive treatment and prevention of further illness.
According to Glenn Kessler, (2011), a fact checker for the ACA quoted the president as pleading that “if you like your insurance, you can keep it” for cost measures with no clear direction of implementation for employer sponsored healthcare coverage for the employee. Insurance companies wouldn't have to make up losses by jacking up costs, and the average Joe wouldn't have to pay a fine for not buying health insurance. I think the biggest problem is the assumption that having insurance equates to having affordable healthcare. Americans have been barraged because the ACA is built on the assumption that health care is not a privilege, it is right and is a requirement of the law available to all Americans for healthcare coverage. For the ACA there is more of the negative than the positive for the poor, the independent contractor, the individual, the business, employers and the employees, and the legislature has everyone guessing who the beneficiaries of the Affordable Care Act are.
Obamacare is what America needs, and is the middle ground between a single payers system and a public option system. Without Obamacare, the two opposite options I have given would be too extreme and not everyone would agree on them. It would cause controversy in America, and that is the opposite of what we need in this health care crisis. It would also not help the health care crisis grow and replenish itself to the standards that us citizens expect from the government. In order for America to stay on track to rebuild the health care system, we need to keep going in the same direction and expand our horizons by keeping and adding on to the Affordable Care Act so every citizen is content.
Just a few years ago the Affordable Care Act otherwise known as the ACA. The Affordable Care Act is also famously know as Obamacare. This has not been very good for the American people in several ways. It has caused the people of this great nation a very difficult time in signing up for this new healthcare, everyone’s insurance prices have risen, people have been losing a lot of hours at work, and if people decide not to have insurance they can be fined. The way to get rid of all of these problems is to get rid of the Affordable Care Act all together.
On March 23, 2010, President Barrack Obama signed the Affordable Care Act (ACA) into legislation. The bill was created to provide affordable and effective health care to all Americans. It has since provided tens of millions of uninsured Americans with affordable healthcare (“ObamaCare: Pros and Cons of ObamaCare”). While doing so, an estimated 31 million still remain uncovered as of 2016 (“Not ‘Everybody’ Is Covered Under ACA”). To this day, the health care plan has remained widely criticized and controversial. Many believe the Affordable Care Act has not done its duty and is unconstitutional to force healthcare upon Americans. Universal healthcare is in place in almost every developed nation with the United States being the last to do so. But is the Affordable Care Act the solution for universal healthcare in the United States? In 2010 President Obama signed the Affordable Care Act into law. Parts of this law were enacted in 2012 and was to be fully implemented on January 1, 2013. Unfortunately many parts of the bill, such as the website to sign up applicants, has failed and many states have rejected the proposed changes in infrastructure that makes the bill possible. The main purpose of this reform is to expand Medicaid coverage, hold insurance companies accountable for rising costs, lower overall health care costs, guarantee more choice of physicians for patients, and give quality healthcare to all Americans (Troy 21). Throughout the enactment of this bill, only one of these promises has been upheld, the expansion of Medicaid. The Affordable Care Act needs to be repealed and replaced with a single-payer system because Obamacare created ‘death panels’ for aging and disabled Americans, has failed to allow many who wanted to keep their current health coverage to do so, many people’s previous physician is not covered under Obamacare, and ObamaCare is failing on Obama’s main promise, lowering the overall cost of healthcare while giving universal coverage.
Health care reform was a major part of President Obama’s campaign when he was first running back in 2008. The primary objectives of the reform are to provide healthcare coverage for all uninsured Americans and decrease the costs of healthcare services and coverage.
In America the affordability and equality of access to healthcare is a crucial topic of debate when it comes to one's understanding of healthcare reform. The ability for a sick individual to attain proper treatment for their ailments has reached the upper echelons of government. Public outcry for a change in the handling of health insurance laws has aided in the establishment of the Affordable Healthcare Law (AHCL) to ensure the people of America will be able to get the medical attention they deserve as well as making that attention more affordable, as the name states. Since its creation, the AHCL has undergone scrutiny towards its effects on the government and its people; nevertheless, the new law must not be dismantled due to its function as a cornerstone of equal-opportunity healthcare, and if such a removal is allowed, there will be possibly detrimental effects on taxes, the economy, and poor people.
Less than a quarter of uninsured Americans believe the Affordable Care Act is a good idea. According to experts, more than 87 million Americans could lose their current health care plan under the Affordable Care Act. This seems to provide enough evidence that the Affordable Care Act is doing the exact opposite of what Democrats promised it would do. On the other hand, this law includes the largest health care tax cut in history for middle class families, helping to make insurance much more affordable for millions of families. The Affordable Care Act has been widely discussed and debated, but remains widely misunderstood.
Half of the 50 million people in the U.S are currently uninsured. The new healthcare laws were intended to expand health insurance coverage, but one trade association warned that it will end of driving 60 million manufacturing workers out of coverage supplied by their employers over the next decade unless it was fixed before that occurs.(Newton-Small). Companies offered health coverage to their employers but certain laws prevented them from giving some benefits, forcing them into something that is called a one sized fit's all system. Basically like a waiting list. The problem with the one sized fit all system is that healthcare is just simply too large and complexed to manage at a government level. This is a system the government created that they cannot fix. The charge of Obama care would dump 60 million workers into the laws state and federal insurance exchanges which lead to the Affordable Care Act (ACA). When Obamacare, a law passed to guarantee affordable health insurance to all Americans, was put into action it received many responses, and not all of them were positive. Obamacare was portrayed to be a great healthcare initiative and many people supported it. When the law was passed, however, it was revealed that most of it was a big lie. Obamacare should be taken away due to the many problems it has and unbeneficial results it produces, such as, unaffordable health care means fewer people have jobs, the benefits described are not near as nice as they were made out to be, and it is impossible to provide insurance for everybody in the United Sates without raising taxes.
We are the wealthiest country yet we don’t have free universal health coverage. The insurance companies are attempting to manage cost through price controls and we’re still having to pay out of pocket for a lot of the expenses. Personally I think that The Obama Care (and the Affordable Care Act) will have little to no effect on me until maybe later in life because the insurance I have works great for me. I do have to meet my deductible every year, and it depends on which doctor I go to if I have a copay or
