Niles 1 438417 Obama’s Legacy Although Obama has made some controversial choices in his terms most of the policies that he proposed in his term as a United State president were very well thought out and helped out the U.S for the greater. There were many policies both domestic and foreign that has led Obama to this legacy. One of this policy was the Immigration policy which created a smart, fair and effective system that helped keep our borders safe. Second there was the foreign policy which changed the way the U.S dealt with other countries Thirdly there was the education policy which made it easier for students to afford school. Obama’s policy will have a huge impact on the U.S domestic and foreign policy. Some of these controversial policies include …show more content…
From the beginning when Obama was inaugurated he already had a activist view with foreign countries. One of Obama’s goals when going into office was the foreign policy. He had a very activist vision about the foreign policy. He wanted to change the United State image in third world countries especially in the middle east like Iran and Afghanistan. I believe Obama’s ultimate goal was to create a more stable world between the United States and the other side of the world. This new foreign policy has helped create less conflict and is definitely one of obama’s better accomplishments and will be apart of his legacy in the future. Another policy that would be in Obama’s legacy is the new education policy. This new policy would make college less expensive and help prepare students for success. This was better than Bush’s No Child Left Behind Policy because it supported teachers and helped children get their basic learning skills in. Obama believes that the younger generation are the future and they are. if we fail to teach them the basics of education then we are setting up our kids to fail. This will positively impact Obama’s legacy on United States domestic and foreign
...ous statements it can be inferred that in some ways the Obama administration was like the Bush Administration in terms of foreign national policies. Obama also made poor choices by expanding on Bush policies that were already a dangerous jaunt from constitutional practices. Another thing Obama did was increase our expenditures by the billions, which can cause harm in his domestic reform agendas, and might lead to divisive and expensive foreign wars.
Stephen Skowronek writes about political time and how one can determine the legacy a president will leave behind at the time their presidency is done. The president has immense powers when he comes to office, but the challenges they each face vary depending on the time they take office. Skowronek analyzes and demonstrates that the most essential factor for a president to attempt to legitimize his actions and orders will be the actions of the president before him. Following the actions of George W. Bush is how we can determine where Barack Obama falls under and follow the chain to the next president. If Hillary Clinton were to win the 2016 election, she would fall under the politics of articulation and Barack Obama would fall under the politics of pre-emption.
Both President Bush and President Obama had very different ways of running the country during their presidencies. Overall, President Bush used less persuasion on major domestic and foreign policies than President Obama. With these differences among the presidents, they both passed and approved laws that would try to better the nation and it’s citizens.
In conclusion, both Presidents ended the wars inherited by previous presidents; however President Obama’s approach was much less controversial and more effective than Nixon’s approach. Nixon’s plan backfired and caused him to lose more American lives than he had planned. Obama’s plan focused on stopping American casualties and bringing troops back after Afghan was actually ready to fight for themselves. Nixon’s approach was selfish, while President Obama’s approach was used to benefit American and Afghan politics and society.
Hesiod’s Theogony and the Babylonian Enuma Elish are both myths that begin as creation myths, explaining how the universe and, later on, humans came to be. These types of myths exist in every culture and, while the account of creation in Hesiod’s Theogony and the Enuma Elish share many similarities, the two myths differ in many ways as well. Both myths begin creation from where the universe is a formless state, from which the primordial gods emerge. The idea of the earth and sky beginning as one and then being separated is also expressed in both myths.
Distinctively visual language and cinematic techniques highlight to the responder the particular literal and metaphorical experiences characters are faced with, within a text. Peter Goldsworthy’s novel Maestro, Don McLean’s song ‘Vincent’ and the intriguing film Australia by Baz Luhrrman, explore the ways in which the human experiences of an individual’s connection to landscape is fundamental in shaping one’s sense of identity, personal growth and development. Composers further explore the realisation that our lives can be enriched by an understanding and appreciation of art as well as a deeper understanding of the importance of love and lust. The depiction of characters is conveyed through distinctively visual images to highlight the subsequent development of courage and resilience leads responders to a deeper understanding of how human experiences can create a sense of individuality.
From his extremely vivid imagery at the beginning to his conclusion that America plans to seek a solution with Russia and other nations, the president’s flow from using pathos to logos to ethos made his speech very effective and compelling. His argument was backed up and supported all through out his speech, which helped his audience believe that what he was saying is true and important. However, his speech would have been nothing without the implication and opinion that America is the strongest nation in the world. Although this point is debatable, it is our duty to help other nations. We definitely do an excellent job at helping other nations and always having their best interests at heart. I believe this was the main goal for Obama’s speech; a plan to protect the United States. The use of logos, ethos and pathos just helped his speech to be more persuasive and
President Obama was no different. Five weeks after the election, President Obama met with his economic and political advisors that presented him with their reports of the rapidly deteriorating economic conditions and their plan to hinder the economy from collapsing. President Obama delegated the legislative work to party members and committees because, as a former legislator, he believed that giving Congress discretion in writing the bill would contribute to its enactment (Wayne, 2013). “In general, crises, when they first occur, enhance opportunities for presidential leadership” Stephen J. Wayne stated in Rivals of Power: Presidential-Congressional Relations. “Members of Congress, much like the general public, look to the president and rally behind him” (Wayne, 2013). At first, president Obama hit the ground running after he won the election, and immediately started to figure out with his advisors on how to get the United States back on its feet again. And Congress members look up to the president just as much as American citizens do when the United States faces a crisis. Which in turn can boost the president’s and Congress’ relationship to American citizens. However, Obama’s operating style spawned criticism from both the Democrats and Republicans. The Democrats companied that he did not give much support for their
He knows that having a strong middle class is what makes a strong economy. He was able to lower taxes for the middle class, allowing working families to save $3,600. This allows for those lower class families to build up to the middle class without seeing it all being taken away by taxes. Obama believes that instead of reducing taxes from the upper class to increase them. Mitt Romney plans to reduce taxes of the upper class would lead to large tax cut for those making over $3 million by an average of $250,000. That drop of cash flow would very negatively affect the economy. It would lead to the loss of many jobs overseas. The Obama tax plan demonstrates a functional plan I see for America. (Republican Views
The most significant educational opportunity that I’ve obtained has been President Barack Obama’s approval of Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) since established in 2012. The policy permits and extends opportunities and resources for undocumented immigrants like myself for a chance of a better life in the United States.
In fact, he received 12th place on C-Spans list of best presidents and had a sixty percent approval rating at the end of his presidency (CNN, 2017). He showed much grace as the Republican party tried to destroy his presidency. Instead of retaliating, Obama continued to campaign for the country, eventually gaining some support of Republicans. By establishing policies to protect rights of consumers, small business, minorities, disabled individuals, increase the minimum wage of federal contractors, protect the rights of the lesbian, gay bisexual and transsexual (LGBT) community, Obama proved that he was the president for all Americans not just the select privileged
We are now just past election day, and the media is still buzzing about our new president-elect Donald J. Trump. Protests are happening everywhere, but what is it going to change? That doesn’t matter now because as we say goodbye to our current POTUS Barack Obama, we recap and evaluate what he has done over his 2 term presidency. As a conservative, I feel that President Obama did not do a very good job serving our nation. He had many problems pertaining to domestic policy, foreign policy, platform and ideas for the future, fiscal policy, and relationship with the two political parties.
Immigration is a very hot topic in the United States right now because many people believe that the immigration system is broken and needs fixing. On November 20th 2014 President Obama announced his executive action to fix our broken immigration system. The executive action will have two key components. The first is it would offer a legal reprieve to undocumented parents of United States citizens who have been in the country for at least five years. This would remove any threat that they have for deportation and could also allow them to get work permits. The second key component is it will expand the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program that allows immigrants who are under the age of 30 who arrived in the United States as a
As the 44th president of the United States Barack Obama had a multitude of successes such as economic stabilization and Obamacare, but he also had failures such as dealing with ISIS. First, early on in Obama’s presidency helped stabilize the economy passed on from the Bush administration. After Bush had finished his term the economy was in free fall so Obama’s campaign relied heavily on fixing this problem. Once Obama was sworn into office he took an approach similar to that of Franklin Roosevelt’s New Deal in which he chose to use government spending to fix the economy and keep it stable. He spent $831 billion during his presidency on programs to help balance the economy.(Gonzales 1) This was a success for the Obama Administration because
To sum up, Obama has always been and will always be a great example of how to succeed in spite of difficulties or obstacles. Such a strong personality is worth to be admired. Obama has left me with positive feelings about the
