Health Care System is the maintenance and improvement of physical and mental health, especially through the provision of medical services. America is the 37th ranked country which provided better health care, according to the World Health Organization. Although, United States spends more money on Healthcare than other countries still, this country was not in a better place in the Healthcare system compared to the western countries. American performance management of the Health Care system was instantly lacking which is why America was in the last place compared to the other countries, however, The Affordable Act helped the United States to move out from the last place by giving the Health Insurance to 50 million lower class people which …show more content…
was passed during the presidency of Barack Obama on 2010. Part of the health care system in the United States is managed by the Social Security Act and its amendments, which govern federally funded health insurance programs for the nation’s most helpless populations. By President Lyndon Johnson, Medicare Bill signed into law which was on July 30, 1965, in Missouri. It formed Medicare, which is a health insurance program for the elder people. Medicare gives access to health insurance for all Americans who are aged 65 and older, all young people with specific disabilities, and individuals with disease. Another health insurance program is Medicaid, which is created for the poor. This program provides federal funding to states for medical and health related services for individuals with limited income. At last, the Obama Care(The Affordable Care Act) Health coverage, which was signed by the president Barack Obama in March 23, 2010. United States have taken a lot of action to reform the health insurance industry, but they failed until the The Affordable Care Act passed. There were about 33 million people living without Health Insurance in the United States, which is why over thousands of people died per year. Most of them were noncitizen immigrants who were not qualified for Medicaid and millions of them were undocumented. Due to the American laws, undocumented people were prohibited to receive Medicaid and buying Insurances. The purpose of the Insurance was to help the poor, low income people and legalized people who were in poverty. If America spends all their money on the illegal people, then, the legalize people will not receive the service. Illegal did not have any rights over the benefits which were offered by the The government. However, many people got benefits in many illegal ways which is why many Americans did not get the benefits. In the other hand, legal immigrant, who was living in the United States less than five years, they did not get enough health care as the people with the citizenship. The big amount of benefits was getting the people with citizenship, which is why there was a lack of health care for the legal residence people. By passing the Obama Care Law, United State was succeeded to reduce United State was succeeded to reduce the number of uninsured people. The Obama Health Care Bill was the forms to the insurance industry.
It changed the healthcare industry by expanding Medicaid and Medicare and making an insurance exchange act that provides affordable insurance to low-to-middle income Americans. It also made a number of improvements to care for specific groups such as Women, Seniors and those who did not previously qualify for Medicaid. The idea behind Obama’s health care reform bill is that those who can afford to buy health insurance will be able to buy better quality insurance, while more Americans who previously struggled to get care will have greater access to it, by the way of Medicaid or subsidized insurance on the health insurance exchanges. ObamaCare includes many structures that focus on expanding quality, affordable health care coverage, helping tens of millions of Americans find coverage. The Affordable Care Act, which law helped and still helping to improve the US healthcare system. The Act enacts reforms that assist to defense the cost of insurance, increase the quality of health care and expand consumer protections and rights. The bill includes a strong attention on improving employer based health care making it available to more employees. The reforms in President Obama’s health care bill are the first step to finding a balance between a for profit health care system and a system that puts patient care before profit. Obama’s health care plan rebuild Medicare as well by adding new benefits, expanding …show more content…
coverage, cutting costs, and improving care for patients. Obama’s health care bill, aims to make the American health care system, a system that works for health care providers and consumers. The law of The Obama Care gave people so many advantages, rights and protection. Young adults who were up to 26 years old, they could stay on their parent's tax file. It stopped the Insurance companies from refusing or charging more money based on one’s Health Care status. Everyone's Healthcare Insurance will be based on their income which is equal for everyone. Individual will not be discriminated by their gender. Giving free birth control and emergency room for visits. Insurance Companies could not take away a huge amount of coverage from the sick people. It promised to keep everyone’s personal information to keep secret. The Act also extends the affordability, quality, availability of private and public health insurance through consumer regulations, precipitate, taxes, insurance exchanges, and other reforms. While Obama’s health care reform isn’t perfect, there should have bring changes which will take United States in a better place in the future. Government should make laws on people who qualify for such health care as Medicaid, Medicare or Obama Care however, do not use the free service, then, government should take away the service and give it to the people who are barely between the qualify and the unqualified line to get the Obama care. There are older people who go to the doctor than young teenager because they do not suffer strongly as older people does. Employer in the service should start sending them a letter alert of charging them until they go back to the doctor once a month. When they will see that they will have to pay the bill, then, they will immediately start to care about the free service. Another change should be form which is about the tax. People who are not eligible for free services meaning the middle and upper class people where they have to pay a lot of tax, which are taken away from their income. It would be better for the consumer if the amount of tax reduces because they would not get their taxes back like the lower class people do. There should have a new program that does not require any form to fill out or to register for eligibility to get free Health Care. People from that free program should walk through place to place to see if anyone needs health care like homeless people. As soon as, they find people like Extremis or sick, then they should immediately take them to the hospital for free. The reasons behind the changes should be formed in The Affordable Care Act law are pretty logical according to my political point of view.
People who are eligible for this Health Care System, most of them are the lower class people. Middle class people and the upper class people are not getting these benefits as the Lower class people are getting. On the other hand, In the United States people pay taxes based on their income. In this case, Upper class people are paying the most taxes than others which means, nor the middle and upper class getting benefits nor they are paying less taxes. Lower class people may think that Upper class people earn much more money than them. Therefor, rich people do not need any benefits. According to the Bill of Right everyone are equal in everything but why not in this case. In my opinion, this does not call equality. Another reason why the government should form changes in the laws is to reduce more uninsured people. Many people are still out there who are suffering from disease and dying from uninsurance. For example, homeless people who are legal residence in the United States, but do not have Health care, they are the people who are dying everyday. If they bring those changes in the Health Care System then, the number of uninsured people will decrease and United States will go on the upper rank comparing to the world. Also, American will have a better
future. As a solution, one cannot say that Obama’s new health care bill is good or bad, but simply one can be said that Obama Care is the reason why the American Health Care system reformed. While the American people were not getting insurance due to the rise of the cost and failure to reform, then, the Obama care change the whole industry of Insurance company and the people's lives. For a long time Americans have put off care or have been declined proper care due to the rising cost of insurance, while the healthcare industry has continued to profit at exceeding rates. Obama Care is the “law of the land” which means Obama Care Bill will be reshaping the healthcare industry in the years to bright more.
While most countries around the world have some form of universal national health care system, the United States, one of the wealthiest countries in the world, does not. There are much more benefits to the U.S. adopting a dorm of national health care system than to keep its current system, which has proved to be unnecessarily expensive, complicated, and overall inefficient.
Universal health insurance is available to everybody with an option to purchase private insurance coverage (The U.S. Health Care System: An International Perspective, 2014). Approximately 90% of the population uses the national system in which premiums are income based. The system uses 240 private insurers for a non-profit, competitive system. Insurance costs are significantly less than the U.S. due to cost negotiations for medical facilities, appointments, and prescription medications (Sick Around the World, 2008). B. United States Healthcare System Healthcare in the U.S. has recently been affected by implementation of the Affordable Care Act (ACA) of 2010.
For decades, one of the many externalities that the government is trying to solve is the rising costs of healthcare. "Rising healthcare costs have hurt American competitiveness, forced too many families into bankruptcy to get their families the care they need, and driven up our nation's long-term deficit" ("Deficit-Reducing Healthcare Reform," 2014). The United States national government plays a major role in organizing, overseeing, financing, and more so than ever delivering health care (Jaffe, 2009). Though the government does not provide healthcare directly, it serves as a financing agent for publicly funded healthcare programs through the taxation of citizens. The total share of the national publicly funded health spending by various governments amounts to 4 percent of the nation's gross domestic product, GDP (Jaffe, 2009). By 2019, government spending on Medicare and Medicaid is expected to rise to 6 percent and 12 percent by 2050 (Jaffe, 2009). The percentages, documented from the Health Policy Brief (2009) by Jaffe, are from Medicare and Medicaid alone. The rapid rates are not due to increase of enrollment but growth in per capita costs for providing healthcare, especially via Medicare.
One of the most controversial topics in the United States in recent years has been the route which should be undertaken in overhauling the healthcare system for the millions of Americans who are currently uninsured. It is important to note that the goal of the Affordable Care Act is to make healthcare affordable; it provides low-cost, government-subsidized insurance options through the State Health Insurance Marketplace (Amadeo 1). Our current president, Barack Obama, made it one of his goals to bring healthcare to all Americans through the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act of 2010. This plan, which has been termed “Obamacare”, has come under scrutiny from many Americans, but has also received a large amount of support in turn for a variety of reasons. Some of these reasons include a decrease in insurance discrimination on the basis of health or gender and affordable healthcare coverage for the millions of uninsured. The opposition to this act has cited increased costs and debt accumulation, a reduction in employer healthcare coverage options, as well as a penalization of those already using private healthcare insurance.
Healthcare has been a topic of discussion with the majority of the country. Issues with insurance coverage, rising costs, limited options to gain coverage, and the quality of healthcare have become concerns for law makers, healthcare providers and the general public. Some of those concerns were alleviated with the passing of the Affordable Care Act, but new concerns have developed with problems that have occurred in the implementation of the new law. The main concerns of the country are if the Affordable Care Act will be able to overcome the issues that plagued the old healthcare system, the cost of the program, and how will the new law affect the quality of the health delivery system.
America is known for democracy, freedom, and the American Dream. American citizens have the right to free speech, free press, the right to bear arms, and the right to religious freedom to name a few. The Declaration of Independence states that American citizens have the rights including “life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.” America promises equality and freedom and the protection of their rights as outlined in the Declaration of Independence and the Bill of Rights. But with all the rights and freedoms that American citizens enjoy, there is one particular area where the United States seems to be lacking. That area is health care. The United States is the only industrialized nation that doesn’t have some form of legal recognition of a right to health care (Yamin 1157). Health care reform in the United States has become a major controversy for politicians, health care professionals, businesses, and citizens. Those in opposition to reform claim that health care is not a human right, therefore the government should not be involved. Supporters of reform believe that health care is most definitely a human right and should be available to everyone in the United States instead of only those who can afford it, and that it is the government’s responsibility to uphold that right.
Despite the established health care facilities in the United States, most citizens do not have access to proper medical care. We must appreciate from the very onset that a healthy and strong nation must have a proper health care system. Such a health system should be available and affordable to all. The cost of health services is high. In fact, the ...
The U.S. expends far more on healthcare than any other country in the world, yet we get fewer benefits, less than ideal health outcomes, and a lot of dissatisfaction manifested by unequal access, the significant numbers of uninsured and underinsured Americans, uneven quality, and unconstrained wastes. The financing of healthcare is also complicated, as there is no single payer system and payment schemes vary across payors and providers.
The US health system has both considerable strengths and notable weaknesses. With a large and well-trained health workforce, access to a wide range of high-quality medical specialists as well as secondary and tertiary institutions, patient outcomes are among the best in the world. But the US also suffers from incomplete coverage of its population, and health expenditure levels per person far exceed all other countries. Poor measures on many objective and subjective indicators of quality and outcomes plague the US health care system. In addition, an unequal distribution of resources across the country and among different population groups results in poor access to care for many citizens. Efforts to provide comprehensive, national health insurance in the United States go back to the Great Depression, and nearly every president since Harry S. Truman has proposed some form of national health insurance.
A health care system that provides free health care services to its entire citizen can be termed as universal health care. This is a situation where all citizens are protected from financial costs in health care. It is recognized around the globe as it provides a specific package of benefits to all citizens in the entire nation. For instance, free health care can result to improved health outcomes. In addition, it provides financial risk protection and an improved access to health services. There is an increasing debate on how citizen should be provided with free medical services. Although United State does not permit free health care services it should have free health care for all citizens. This is due to the fact that healthcare is the largest industry in United State. Due to the fact that United State is a rich country, it should have a healthcare system that provides free services such as treatment for its entire citizen. This will play a significant role, as it will stop medical bankruptcies in...
In America the affordability and equality of access to healthcare is a crucial topic of debate when it comes to one's understanding of healthcare reform. The ability for a sick individual to attain proper treatment for their ailments has reached the upper echelons of government. Public outcry for a change in the handling of health insurance laws has aided in the establishment of the Affordable Healthcare Law (AHCL) to ensure the people of America will be able to get the medical attention they deserve as well as making that attention more affordable, as the name states. Since its creation, the AHCL has undergone scrutiny towards its effects on the government and its people; nevertheless, the new law must not be dismantled due to its function as a cornerstone of equal-opportunity healthcare, and if such a removal is allowed, there will be possibly detrimental effects on taxes, the economy, and poor people.
The Affordable Care Act, more commonly known as Obamacare, is a new health policy created by the American federal government. Its purpose is to make healthcare more affordable and friendly for the people. Unfortunately in some way that does not prove to be the case. It is becoming apparent that Obama may have made some misleading statements to help get the ACA put into action. The ACA is sprinkled with many flaws that call for a reform such as people’s current plans being terminated, high costs, and at minimum some people’s hours being cut by their employers.
According to Harry A. Sultz and Kristina M. Young, the authors of our textbook Health Care USA, medical care in the United States is a $2.5 Trillion industry (xvii). This industry is so large that “the U.S. health care system is the world’s eighth
Obama promised change, then he took on one of Washington's toughest issues; Universal healthcare reform.Obama said that he wanted to be the generation that says, "universal health care in America, we can do that!" He spoke no less than remaking America, but in the end were they just pretty words?
Millions of Americans are without health insurance in the United States due to many factors such as unemployment, the cost of insurance and insurance companies denying coverage due to pre-existing conditions. The United States does not provide health care to its citizens the way the rest of the industrialized world does. Instead of providing coverage for all it institutes market-based options, in which some receive coverage from their place of employment, another options are purchasing individual plans and some can obtain coverage through public programs like Medicaid. The United States is the only westernized industrial nation without a universal health care system.
