To begin with, I believe Oak Grove West needs to increase funding, which will benefit many things.One of the many reasons to increase funding, is to have more supplies. With more supplies, we would have better learning. As an example, Ms. Merritt does not have enough textbooks for everyone. What if one student did not finish their homework? They would have to take that textbook, correct? Now that leaves one student without a textbook, and they would have to share one. Also, the school needs to provide supplies to the teachers. The teachers have to buy all the extra supplies, such as markers and colored pencils

There could be a new rule to the English language or a new thing discovered about ancient history. How would we know? The internet could be a resource, but you cannot always believe what the internet says. This is why we need to improve our supplies, so we can learn! Last but not least, it saves our parents' money! This year our supply list was outrageous. We needed 9 glue sticks. All the teachers just throw them in a bucket for everybody to use. Now shouldn’t the school be providing that? They would if we increased funding. My second reason is we need air conditioning badly. I think we need air conditioning, because that means comfortable students. Students need to be comfortable to learn. We might have food in our system, but when we are freezing or sweating we can’t concentrate. I also believe it could benefit if our teachers are comfortable. Lets be honest, teachers can’t teach when they are uncomfortable. We need to learn so our teachers need to be comfortable! I saved the best for last, a better learning environment. Speaking with the Assistant Village Manager, Maggie Jablonski, and a Trustee, Chris Prochno, gave me insight into their daily lives in Elk Grove Village. They were very open and welcoming to the idea of an interview and made me feel comfortable during the process. The most difficult aspect was being put in contact with them for the interview. I had to schedule the interviews with the Executive Coordinator. She was very helpful and easy to work with, even though it took the most time.
The people of the Eastern Woodlands made many tools to help them in their everyday lives. They made spears, weirs, nets, bows and arrows, lances, knives, taps, snares and deadfall for hunting. Most of those tools were made of wood or bark and other forest material. Arrowheads were made from chert, or flint, from sedimentary rocks. They were shaped like isosceles triangles, the smallest arrows were used for hunting birds, the bigger ones were to spear bears or deer. Flint knives were often oval, or teardrop shaped. For fishing they made spears, weirs, and nets. They also made canoes from hollowed-out trees to help with fishing in the lakes and streams. Money will not solve or make this problem go away, no matter how many social workers are hired. Schools will succeed despite their financial circumstances if they have the basic components of motivated students, parent support, caring teachings, and strong central leadership. While this is the typical model of a suburban school system, Wilson High School proves that it can work anywhere. When ones thinks of urban public schools, overcrowded classes, underpaid teachers, and a lack of resources often come to mind. The fact is these problems can happen anywhere. While the environment at Kennedy could never be compared to the worst DC high school, the assumptions made against these schools are the same. By erasing these notions and confronting the problems one by one, we will be one step closer to reaching equal education for all.
West Orange is a suburban township that’s located in central Essex County, New Jersey, United States. The district of West Orange is highly involved with the community, the safety of the citizens involved and try to interact with them as in activities too. Many residents/citizens move from different townships into West Orange because it’s considered as a safe environment especially, for good school standards for children. As in, when someone asks, “In what city do you live in?” and your response would be West Orange. In their opinion they would suggest it’s a good community to live in and especially how the Police Department and officers are highly involved within the community.
The preponderance of crimes in Groveland can be explained using the theories of social disorganization, strain theory, social control theory, and even labeling theory. Social disorganization theory, is emphasized the most throughout the narrative in Black Picket Fences. As described above, the moral fabric of law-abiding citizens and Groveland gangsters alike, contribute to crime being kept a minimum. The facts of this case are presented very clearly. Ashton Kutcher, owner of Ashton Acres, and Byrd Busch, owner of Bud Liteacres, have adjoining 100 acre farms. Separating the two was a barbwire fence. In addition, a large swamp encompassed part of both acreages (10 acres of Ashton Acres and 50 acres of Bud Liteacres). The two owners met over coffee where Busch orally proposed a trade of 25 acres for the draining of the swamp and a payment of $50,000 ($5,000 up front and $45,000 upon completion). The two owners shook hands on the deal and proceed to mark the 25 acres Ashton would receive upon completion. Ashton then paid Busch $5,000 as a down payment and began working on the swamp. Over a 30 day period, Ashton successfully completes the work using his own materials and labor and prepares a $45,000 payment for Busch. However, when Ashton arrives to present the check to Busch, Busch is not home. Instead he left a note saying the deal was off, as there was no contract between the two, and the barbwire fence needed to be returned to its original position between the farms.
School funding is a recurring issue in the modern era. Debates ranging from give schools more money, to get rid of the system in place and reform a new idea have been plaguing the world over the years. “The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, signed in 2009, provided more than $100 billion in education aid to offset budget cuts..” (School Finance). Later, “Congress provided an additional $10 billion in 2010 to avert mass teacher layoffs (Education Week, "Total Recovery Act")” (School Funding). These numbers are just a sample of the struggles in school funding, that is costing a ton of money to keep afloat. “There are many ways schools fund varying from state to state and even school to school. Income taxes, corporate taxes, sales taxes, and other fees provide 48 percent of the elementary and secondary school funds. 44 percent of local districts draw money from local property taxes. The federal government makes up approximately 8 percent of state education budgets. These funds are a dealt out on a per-student basis, and categorically to ensure enough resources for each special program or facility” (School Funding). These funds play a huge role in every student's education, either positive or negative. The three main areas that need to be addressed in the school budget are extracurricular funding, building and equipment maintenance, and last but not least staff funding.
With economic decline in full effect, the city of Anderson is on track to become a ghost town. Anderson is located in Northern California, 150 miles north of Sacramento, and a 10-minute drive to Redding. The primary source of the problem is in Anderson’s Downtown which is defined as I-5 to 273 and North Street to Balls Ferry (See Reference 1). Nearby attractions include the Sacramento River, Turtle Bay Exploration Park, and the Mt Shasta Mall (Things Web). However, all the main attractions are found in the Redding city. The community of Brownsville, Brooklyn is faced with many challenges in which they are in the process of overcoming according to Community Health Profiles 2015 (NYC HEALTH). The maintenance of housing ranks 12th of all cities in New York City in maintenance defects in households. Household defects are described as inoperable hygiene equipment, inadequate cooling or heating, water leaks, cracks, holes and peeling paint. These defects pose a threat to the residence of Brownsville, as well as decrease the property value for many sections of Brownsville. Due to the decreased property value many business owners and organic markets refrain from bringing new businesses here. The businesses which continue to populate the streets of Brownsville are majority fast food chains, under valued product distributors, and controlled substances.
...ricts, I can’t ignore the fact that districts such as mine, which has already lost so much of its funding, are in need of inexpensive ways to increase efficiency. Another technique implemented in Japan is the use of students as janitors: each day a group of students is assigned to clean their classroom. I believe that if the number of janitors in our schools must be reduced the students should play a part in keeping their environment tidy, be it out of goodwill or punishment. I see this as a great, economical opportunity to maintain the school’s image and promote service.
2. As mentioned before, providing adequate funding would help with some of the current issues but it would not solve everything. Laws need to be changed and the way Texas runs need to be changed for the better. The solution to this problem has many underlying issues that it will be impossible to fix them over the next few years. Regardless of that fact little by little, the education of Texas can be improved in many ways. More involvement with every student and more teachers that actually care are also other ways in which the education of Texas can be improved.
The staff is committed to their school and they are trying to improve it as possible.
Lorenc+Yoo provided Cousins Properties with spectacular design work for their entry canopies at 191 Peachtree. They brought us in to take the project from concept to reality. Starting from their design sketches we developed mechanical drawings, and then fabricated and installed the finished design on the existing stone-clad building facades.
Both Marzano and Schmoker provide practical, research-based techniques to improve schools. They describe programs that a school could use directly to improve current programs. This course helped convince me that simple changes would really help students learn. It was my opinion that a major overhaul of the system was the only way to improve our educational system. What I became convinced of by reading these authors is that we don’t need to change the whole system; we just need to make sure teachers are doing their jobs. Teachers must meet already existing standards set up by the state. The teaching techniques needed for improvement are already well researched and available to all teachers.
Proper school funding is one of the keys to having a successful school. Americans believe that funding is the biggest problem in public schools. School improvements revolve around funding. There needs to be funding not only in the successful schools but also the schools that aren’t doing as well. In documentary, Waiting for Superman, it talks about how smaller class sizes will help students. Funding is what will help the smaller class sizes. State funding mechanisms are subject to intense political and economic scrutiny (Leonard). Studies have shown that funding is inversely related to accreditation levels (Leonard). School funding needs to be increased, but there must be accountability as well.
