Food supplies us with the energy we need to survive. Require food for every bodily function that we perform requires us to eat food. All food has different amount of energy inside of them. On average a person consumes a minimum of two thousand calories in one day. We will be testing the amount of energy inside of nuts by using calorimetry. Calorimetry is when you determine the energy content of food by burning it and capturing the heat in water. The word calorimetry comes from the word calor which means heat in Latin, and the word metry which means measure in Greek. Calorimetry is being used to determine the number of calories that are in three different types of nuts. These nuts will be pecans, almonds, and peanuts. While determining the type of nut you want to eat, keep in mind the other pros of each nut that was
Calories are a measurement for energy and are often measured as the heat energy absorbed from the digestion of foods (“Calories.”). Calories seen in labels of food are not measured in heat energy, but as estimated comparison of energy density (Atkins). Despite that calories are used as measurements of the energy in food, it is not the only thing t...

In this lab, I determined the amount of heat exchanged in four different chemical reactions only using two different compounds and water. The two compounds used were Magnesium Hydroxide and Citric Acid. Both compounds were in there solid states in powder form. Magnesium Hydroxide was mixed with water and the change in heat was measured using a thermometer. The next reaction combined citric acid and magnesium hydroxide in water. The change in heat was measured as well. For the third reaction citric acid was placed in water to measure the change in heat. In the last reaction, citric acid was combined with water. The heat exchanged was again measured. It is obvious we were studying the calorimetry of each reaction. We used a calorimeter

Whenever you eat a meal, your body is working to break down the nutrients you have eaten. It then becomes energy that your body will need. This process is called metabolism. No energy means not being able to keep a balanced lifestyle, and not having a balanced lifestyle can lead to illness and diseases that can affect our lives.
In the modern day world the main purpose of food seems to be nothing but to satisfy cravings and hunger. Although once one's taste preferences are met, it can result in a pleasurable eating experience. But hunger and thirst are the body's way of sending a message that it needs more energy to burn in order to preform at its best. The energy source that the body receives is significantly important in how the body reacts. Similar to how automotive vehicles don't all use the same gasoline, humans also have to choose the right fuel source. Water for example, is a liquid that makes up approximately 50% of the human body. Water contains electrolytes and once consumed will result in the maintenance of the active electrons on their cell membrane transversely. Besides restoring the body's nutrients, food highly impacts mood. The content of food one consumes will ultimately affect a persons psychological health. The basics components that make up the average persons diet contains a verity of protein, carbohydrates, fats, as well as vitamins and minerals resulting a great impact on one's mood.
Food is anything we consume, whether it is for taste or for nutritional value. The nutritional value of a food is the value the food gives to the body to function.
