Nursing Scholarship Essay Sample

Growing up on Guam is a unique experience, in fact, it gives us a broader sense of appreciation of numerous cultures and reminds us that caring is ingrained through family, friends, and all members of the community. I had always believed that I would someday assist people in some way or form regardless of the occupation. Caring and innovation became one of the driving forces in my decision to become a healthcare professional. In fact, I felt compelled to make it my mission to give back to our community as a result of the opportunities I was fortunate to receive through education and interaction with people. However, as I started to become more aware of the issues that surrounded health care on Guam, I eventually wanted to learn more with the intention to apply what I learn to benefit the entire community. I felt that there was a need for improvement and the only way we could see a change is if we allow ourselves to be compassionate, committed and set a new standard of care that we believe that every human being is entitled to.

Here I am writing in my senior year of nursing.
I decided to choose nursing as a career seeing that it is a very challenging and powerful profession where we have the opportunity to influence and touch lives through the promotion and maintenance of health and well-being of individuals and our community. Furthermore, nursing is one of the few professions that help you grow on both personal and professional levels and seeing that it is advancing on a daily basis, the wealth of knowledge to be obtained is limitless. It comes with an enormous responsibility and I am more than willing to take on this
