Nursing has always been a key career in the health care system. Although it is not often focused on in media and stories surrounding health care, nursing is a career of great importance. If any patient was asked about their experience at a hospital or a care center, many will mention the capability and care that they received from the nurses. The health care system could not function efficiently, if at all, if nurses were not present to perform their part. Nurses are more than just physicians support staff. Of interest in this paper is why people choose to study nursing in university or college. Scholarship is a concept that can mean many different things to many different people. As nursing students, scholarship is a concept that we began developing before we started our formal nursing education, will continue to hone during nursing school, and will utilize every day as professional nurses. Scholarship is not something that comes from a singular source, but rather something that is the product of many different experiences, ideas, and types of knowledge. For nurses, it is the synthesis of knowledge from liberal education, knowledge from a variety of disciplines, and the integration of ways of knowing and thinking in nursing that promote scholarship, which in turn leads to the promotion of safe, quality patient care.
As such, I want students to realize the level of knowledge and competence they have when they are reviewing the patient database. I appraise the enthusiasm of these nursing students as they strive for professional competence. It is my goal to help them synthesize theoretical knowledge and apply it in the clinical setting. My ambition is to empower novice-nursing students to apply textbook skills to real patients. What motivates me to teach, and to teach well, is the desired output, “A competent nurse”. Nursing has opened many doors for me in all three domains: practice, research, and education. As I plan a career in nursing scholarship, I acknowledge that I have much to learn about teaching. Wherever this path leads me, my goal is to write

The idea of creating a nurse residency program developed through communication with my fellow new graduate nurses with less than one year of experience in our facility and through personal observation. The goal of creating the residency program is to help new nurses to transition from school to practicing. The affected population would be made up of all nurses on the unit and the patients that interact with the new graduates. The background of the problem is the lack of confidence possessed by new nurses and high turnover rates with those nurses. A nurse residency program would benefit new graduate nurses when transitioning from a student to a practice registered nurse utilizing the help of trained, experienced preceptors. The database

Doctors Doroghazi and Bergin suggest the Health Professions Scholarship Program as an option to pursuing the education without the financial burden. The scholarship covers full tuition and fees for civilian medical school and additionally grants a $20,000 signing bonus, a monthly stipend, and health insurance in exchange for one year of active duty for each year the scholarship is used. Students that attended the USUHS are active duty, receive a higher stipend, housing allowance, and
I wish to study this program because I have a strong interest in nursing. I really like the idea of helping people, and I thought what better way to help people than by directly helping them. I think I will feel a strong sense of accomplishment if I see that the patient is getting better each and every day. I want a career where I will enjoy going to work every day and I think becoming a nurse would fulfil that. My decision to apply to this program was influenced by a series of events. As I am a Ryerson student, I have come across many nursing students. I was inspired by their stories and experiences with the nursing program. Although all of them said studying nursing was very hard, I did not mind because I thought it would be worth it if you enjoy what you are studying. But, they also told me the great parts about the nursing program like having clinical
As a child, I watched the sky with wide eyes each time an airplane flew overhead. My imagination ran wild as I pictured these huge machines that could take a person from one place to the next in barely no time at all. The machines were interesting to me, of course, but what really sparked my curiosity were the people traveling in them. “Where are they going,” I would wonder, “What will they do there?” Little did I know that became one of these travelers, gazing out of the plane window with the same wide-eyed excitement for the adventures that lie ahead.
Since a young age, I have always put the needs of others before mine. I like to believe that I was born with a passion for helping and understanding people, and this passion has only grown stronger as I matured. I have been in and out of hospitals since a very young age. Every time, what amazes me is the care, calmness, and compassion of the nurses as they take care of both the patient and loved ones. Just being around them and watching them work made me want to become just like them.
It was this event that made me realize that being a nurse would be a great career for me. My bilingual ability will help any potential Chinese patients. In a country considered to be the melting pot of the world, not everyone is going to be able to communicate in English. I want to bridge the ethnic divide between nurses and patients to make everyone’s experience at the hospital as pleasant as can be. The idea of being stuck in a hospital with no one to talk to because they don’t understand you does not please me. I feel the need to help those that are of different cultural backgrounds
But until that day, I will continue to pursue my masters and work full time at my church. As you may know, ministry is not a highly-paid career. I am okay with this, but it does not stop school loans from being an unenjoyable burned. Because of the cost of higher education, I have had to pursue this degree part-time, still taking out school loans to help pay for it. With this scholarship, that burden would be eased and I could continue to work for my church and increase my involvement in the lives around me.
