Two years ago, applying to college would have been my highest goal and accomplishment. However, my current goals and ambitions include not only attending UCLA, but to graduate Nursing school with at masters in nursing. I realized settling for second best was not good enough, in order to excel in college and perform my best in my undergraduate studies I need to be determined, focused, and goal oriented. Being admitted to UCLA and into the school of nursing are goals, which now I feel are very close that I can almost grab them. My personal assessment of my potential for undergraduate study and for a professional career in nursing is that I’m ready and determined to give it my all and concentrate all my time into my studies. He helped me to realize that nursing is a career that goes beyond saving lives; a nurse is a bridge between the patient, doctor, and family. What I mean by that is that the nurse is not only in charge of making sure the patient gets healthy, but making sure that the family is tended to in their time of weakness, and also to make sure that the doctor doesn’t make any mistakes with the patient. Ultimately the nurse is the one who is in charge of the patient’s well-being. He shared his stories about working in the hospital and how fascinating it was. When I told him that I was interested in becoming a nurse, he laid a foundation for me to follow, every step of the way he has been there to help guide me. He showed me that in order to be a great nurse I need to go above and beyond my peers not only in education, but in maturity and determination. He was the one who told me that what nursing school would be like and what I should be prepared for. I still remember when he said he would rather do basic training in the military two times than nursing school again! Hearing this did insight a little fear, but it also motivated to prove to myself that no matter how tough an obstacle becomes, I can accomplish is it. He told me and showed me that a nursing student’s life revolves around studying, and that the basic and most important skill needed
Nursing is a special field of work that requires a well-rounded, dedicated individual with a vast variety of aptitudes such as: patience, empathy, respect, the ability to be detail oriented, creativity, social interaction skills, flexibility, critical thinking skills, and interpersonal skills. All of which I have been fortunate enough to establish and build upon through my education and 9+ years of experience as a certified nurse’s aide. Based upon my knowledge of Molloy’s College Bachelors of Science in nursing dual degree program for second degree students, I believe I would be an excellent fit. I am a hard worker with a considerable amount of experience in providing basic patient care, I demonstrate dedication to the field of nursing and I am prepared for the challenges associated with the
From five years old up, I knew I wanted to be a nurse practitioner. When I was around 13 years old my mom got very sick which had her in and out of the hospital, this only pushed me further in the direction of becoming a nurse practitioner. I would always see nurses in and out of my mom’s room when she was in the hospital, some were nice, others were not. I always tell myself, “You’re going to be one of the nice ones, the one that makes the whole ordeal just a little bit better.” However, to become a nurse practitioner, it takes more than fascination and curiosity; hard work and effort must be put in if there is any hope of succeeding in this field.

When I began this journey I knew that Nursing was all I wanted to do and in order to succeed and do well in nursing school, it was going to require a ton of devotion and sacrifice. Nursing school did not come without its challenges, not only did we have to deal with going to class, clinicals, studying for exams, but we also had to add in the factors of jobs, family, marriages, children, sickness and our daily life. But our instructors encouraged us and pushed us to keep going, and for that we are grateful because we all made a decision to stick with it, and here we are today. It seems unimaginable that just a year ago this journey was just beginning, but here we are today a year later,
I, Hope Turnbull, am a Senior of Stockton High School in Stockton Kansas. My plans consist of attending North Central Kansas Technical College starting Fall 2016, where I want to begin my study of nursing. Due to me having all of my general education courses finished upon my college arrival, I have been accepted into the first year Nursing Program (LPN). I believe that I deserve this scholarship due to me excelling in my education at a very young age. My grades are earned as A’s and B’s in school.
During my undergraduate years in college I wasn’t quite sure what I wanted to become when I “grew up”. I would study various professions and never felt like anything fit for me. One evening I sat down with my aunt, a nurse, and I was talking to her about how I couldn’t decide on a major and how frustrating it was to be in college feeling as if I did not have any direction. She looked at me with complete surprise on her face and said, “You aren’t applying for nursing school?” I stared at her for a moment because I was confused as to why she would ask me that. She chuckled and proceeded to tell me that she had always assumed that I would be a nurse because I spent several years of my life taking care of my 3 year old cousin who had cancer. For three years I was his caregiver and it had never occurred to me that I could make a living caring for people. I then spent countless hours researching nursing and what exactly nurses did. This was it! I had finally found what I wanted to do for the rest of my life! It took no time at all to know that I wanted to specialize in pediatrics. Throughout my clinical experiences in nursing school I have immensely enjoyed working on the Pediatric units as well as the Nursery. I am now absolutely certain that I am meant to be a pediatric nurse. Cook Children’s is recognized as a Magnet-designated hospital and is one of the best children’s hospitals in the US. Being a Cook Children’s nurse resident would allow me to fulfill my passion and dream of pediatric nursing. I am interested in a nurse residency at Cook Children’s because of its excellent reputation in patient satisfaction, standard of care, and community involvement. A residency at Cook Children’s would allow me to gain more experience and know...
Upon being accepted at the Georgia Military College, I determined that I would spend my two years retaining everything I could in order to successfully become a registered nurse. Not only does getting my associates degree in Science and Pre-Nursing get all of my prerequisites out of the way, it is preparing me for my further education afterwards. In high school, every career goal test and
My academic goal is to graduate in the Top 10% of my class. I have gained knowledge of the nursing profession through classroom training activities, local medical facility visits, inspirational speakers and mentor presentations. I know this is my calling to care for others, and for me this program has made it possible. I propose to myself to get at least an A in all my

Nursing is a profession I have always viewed with respect and appreciation. Adult nursing appeals to me because it will allow me to work with a diverse set of patients. I have been drawn to the profession for two main reasons: I’ve always had the ambition to help make positive impacts on a person’s life and I am always eager to learn new skills and experiences, and I believe the field of nursing allows me to do this.
I am Lorenzo Villanueva, i’m a senior and I’m attending nex-Gen academy I’ve been at the school since I was a freshman. I'm very interested in nursing and EMS; i thought that nursing would be a good medical field to go into because you can do a lot with your career after an associates degree in nursing also EMT classes are always good to know before going into any medical field. The reason why I am so interested in EMS is because my step dad owns his own EMS company and i’ve gotten to shadow him time to time and i think it’s a hard job to do. I also want to experience how being a nurse is because Is is a hard job, but the pay is really good. Some of my favorite hobbies is to play sports like soccer, golf, tennis and basketball; I spend most
I didn’t always want to be a nurse. When I was in middle school, I wanted to be a math teacher. It was when I discovered I had a natural ability to remain calm in emergency situations when I knew a medical profession was for me. My dad describes this ability as "flipping a switch". I believe this will make me a better caregiver for patients, because if they see I am calm it may help to calm them.
After I had graduated high school, I felt assurance and certainty that I would stick with the major I had chosen regardless of how difficult it could become to obtain it. That plan eventually changed as I realized where I wanted myself to be wasn’t the path I had chosen.
I was visiting my brother in Massachusetts when I got sick on the airplane. I went to the emergency room and I was immediately admitted into the hospital. The doctor recognized my symptoms and immediately took action to medically treat my condition. I enjoyed my week stay in the hospital because the nurses and I became so close and the nurses were there for me when I needed them. The nurses kept me inform, comfort me by making me feel everything was going to be alright. The nurses that took care of me genuinely cared and guided me each step to recovery. This life changing experience gave me inspiration to continue my dream of becoming a
The amount of stories I heard from my great-grandpa, Jim, and Victor were too many to count, but it was an experience I would never forget. The experience taught me how to truly listen and take in every word, which can be an integral part for a physician. In addition, the experience taught me how to be empathetic, and to better understand people. More importantly time spent at the nursing home taught me that people need each other and social interaction with one another is crucial to our well-being. At the age of 11, I had no idea what I wanted to be as an adult, but I knew I wanted a career where I could help others and in a sense make a difference in an individuals’
