For this assignment, I interviewed and chatted with my former high school biology teacher, Mr. Young. It was very fun for me to get a chance to go back into my old high school and talk to one of my favorite teachers, so I would say that I greatly enjoyed completing this assignment. I learned a number of different things while completing this interview, and from this information, I was able to build a better picture of what it’s like to actually be a teacher and understand some of the less rewarding aspects. To start this interviews I discussed with Mr. Young what he found to be the most rewarding part of teaching. He emphasised how special of a job it is because of the relationships you can form with students, and he said that student interaction …show more content…
Young and myself was about his educational beliefs and things that have a big effect of the way he teaches. When talking about this Mr. Young said that he thinks it is so important to make the students feel comfortable. He also said that he thinks it is so important to connect emotions with learning, so he tries to connect as many senses and personal stories to his lessons as possible. A couple things that he noted are that the students always seem to take a little more out of a lesson if they are completing a task that produces something, and it’s even more fun for them with snacks. Therefore, Mr. Young does a number of lessons that deal with food like making cottage cheese and teaching evolution using different kinds of teddy grahams. I think that this is a really neat and engaging way to get students interested and learning the subject matter, and I definitely intend to incorporate as many senses into my future lessons as possible. However, Mr. Young said that he thinks one of the most influential things he does in his classroom is beginning each class with a current event usually related to biology. These can come from news websites, national geographic, magazines, local news, or even students stories. Mr. Young thinks this is really important because it shows his students how studying biology can lead to great advancements and discoveries, and he even said he has noticed much more excited about biology since he has started doing this. I think that this is a very creative idea and a very feasible way to get students interested in biology. I completely intend to use this in my future classroom, but I think I might make a few edits to it, making the students sometimes find their own current events to get them involved and searching things they are interested
The stimulation we had to do for class focused on a piece of land in Cleveland OH that once belonged to a nuclear factory. This land consisted of 4 acres in the north-central section of Ward 12, and adjacent to ward 3. The allotment is positioned closely to many low-income segments of the South Broadway neighborhood. The goal was to come up with an idea on what should replace the decommissioned factory and create the biggest benefit for the community.

The human body is everything that makes up, well, you. The basic parts of the human body are the head, neck, torso, arms, and legs. Our bodies consist of a number of biological systems that carry out specific functions necessary for everyday living. The following paragraphs are going to explain the functions of two different body systems.
A parallel bus system is a bus system that transfers several data bits at the same time. This bus system requires wide buses because large chunks of data need to be transferred faster. Parallel buses usually have 8, 16, 32 or 64 data lines. A parallel bus system includes: ISA, PCI, VESA, and EISA buses. (Mueller, S. & Zacker, C. 1988).
It was November 12 when spacecraft Rosetta caught up with the comet called Churyumov-Gerasimenko better know as 67P (Lauren, 2014). The journey took 6.4 billion miles to complete (Lauren, 2014). Also Rosetta sent a lander called Philae to explore the comet and take picture among other things (Lauren, 2014). Interestingly enough when the media reported the comet landing I thing is trumped Kim kardashian attempt at breaking the internet with her nude photos which the media was cover at about the same time as the comet landing. With all that being said you might be asking why should I care? You should care about this comet because comets came from and can tell us about our solar system, also there has not been any unique and important mission as this one, further more it might be the last space mission we get to experience for a while. Now I am going to get in to what comets are and how they got here and talk a little bit
Lucky was a very interesting film, one of my favorites so far, this semester. Sitting in the audience and hearing all the laughs and how full the theater was proved it. Lucky reminded me so much of my grandpa in an oddly manner, it was as if I was hearing my grandpa but the oddness was that my grandpa doesn’t speak English. I think what made me have more of that connection to my grandpa was that in Mexico my grandpa lived in the outside of the small town. And he two was isolated and away from everyone, he would do the same routine every day until his last day just like Lucky. I think that something the director and writer did an excellent job at was that they added the Mexican regional music and some conversations in Spanish, that
Module 1 assignment was to write our current vision of the future of education and learning covering each of the STEEP areas. STEEP includes Social, Technological, Environmental, Economic and Political. In the assignment, technology was said to be an area that a lot of educators are turning to. However, the question has always come up, is this a good idea? At times, it feels like a disadvantage to students who cannot afford the technology. Also, technology can handicap students, but since there is no way to turn from it now, why not try to do it correctly?
After reviewing the sources that I have gathered in my previous weeks’ assignments, I have noticed an underlying factor between them all. Some of the sources take this factor a completely different direction than what I was originally looking for, but they all have similar sections or quotes that attribute to my own personal questions and possible research topic.
when I was making my john cena math game I wanted an image of john cena for the home page but most of the ones I looked at were copyrighted and owned by other people so I used the option to google images search but on show images that were available for reuse with modification so I could change john cena around in case he wouldn’t fit in my game screen. I had a problem similar to this when I was looking for images for my website but I used creative commons search to find god images I could change around in Photoshop to create a banner for my website and I wouldn’t get caught for stealing someone’s image without their permission. When I was writing some of the parts for my conceptual design of my website I had to make sure none of it was copying form other people or it would be called plagiarism and it would get me in lots of trouble at school, to get around this I put it in my own words and just to be sure I ran all my work through a plagiarism detector on www.plagtracker.com to make sure none of it was still plagiarism. Plagiarism is a big issue because you could just copy someone else’s work of the internet without asking or acknowledging them and that’s low to the person who did the work because you’re getting credit for their
America is dub the land of opportunities and hope by all that look from the outside of the fence in. The shining image of greatness America portrays gives the sense that you can accomplish anything when within its diverse borders. I’m Māori Johnson, and I’m a naturalized citizen of the United States of America from Jordan. Naturalization is defined by the U.S Citizenship and Immigration Service (2013) as the process by which U.S citizenship is granted to a foreign citizen. It’s a rigorous thing to accomplish which consist of first applying for citizenship, if accepted you then go through a written test and exam, probably most natural born citizens couldn’t pass. After you’re accepted life isn’t the easiest to begin. I’ve had to leave behind my job in my former country to pursue my new life here. I am pursing a master’s degree in communications from Texas State University to better my opportunities here. However, I’m working at a local H-E-B while I attempt to pursue a career in my area of expertise while attending school. I’ve expected to have a hard time adjusting in that aspect but I’m enjoying my time here. (Question 1)
As the time approached, my attitude toward student-teaching was one of confidence and in some ways overconfidence. I believed that I was equipped with all of the tools necessary to be a superior teacher. Little did I know what truly goes on behind the scenes of a teacher. Between grading papers, attending meetings, and preparing lessons, I would often feel overwhelmed. Still, student teaching would prove to be much more valuable than I anticipated. It would teach me to appreciate the wisdom of mentors and experienced teachers, value or being organized and prepared, and lastly the resilience of students.
My personal views on teaching have evolved and developed in a rapid manner over the years, having experienced the situation from both a student and a teachers' perspective. My teaching methodology has grown and expanded in a bid to reach every student whilst keeping in line with their personality and individuality.
Along these two weeks we have been prompt to make a recall to our own way of learning and why we became a teacher: Was it because coincidence, due to life circumstances, maybe because family tradition, was it a conscious decision or because someone influenced us? Whatever the answer is, we have to face reality and be conscious that being a teacher does not only means to teach a lesson and asses students learning. It requires playing the different roles a teacher must perform whenever is needed and required by our learners, identify our pupils needs and preferences, respecting their integrity and individuality but influencing and motivating them to improve themselves and become independent.
Individuals who enter the field of education reply to the question why teach with various answers. There is beauty, joy, and fulfillment in this profession, and these spirit-lifting emotions are the result of watching annually as a new group of children enter to learn and leave with the knowledge to achieve. Richard Dufour (2000), author of Why Teach expressed his views on the profession first by stating that teaching is not the career for everyone. He goes on to say, that the education profession has the ability to present the “unique opportunity” for individuals to cast a positive influence upon others (Why Teach, 2000, p.1). The smiles received from a room full of students when as a whole their individual needs, both educational and personal have been catered to, prompts a burst of passion in every teacher.
