Not only that, the corn that that cow was fed with is also filled with chemicals to make them grow at a faster rate to get that hamburger on a dinner plate as quickly as possible. Bryan Walsh, a staff writer for Time Magazine specializing in environmental issues discusses in his article “America’s Food Crisis” how our food is not only bad for us but dangerous as well. The word dangerous could apply to many different things though. Our food is dangerous to the consumer, the workers and farmers, the animals and the environment. Walsh gives examples of each of these in his article that leads back to the main point of how dangerous the food we are consuming every day really is. He goes into detail on each of them but focuses his information on the consumer.

For over 35 years, Feeding America continues to be in the forefront in solving this crisis by providing food to people in need through a nationwide network of food banks. In the late 1960s, Van Hengel established the nation’s first food bank and years later established the first national organization of food banks, Second Harvest. Second Harvest was later called America’s Second Harvest the Nation’s Food Bank Network and in 2008, the national organization changed its name to Feeding America.
Nutrition and health have become more popular in today 's society. Our generation is becoming more and more indebted to the idea of being healthy and eating nutritious meals. However, in “The American Paradox,” by Michael Pollan he argues that our unhealthy population is preoccupied with nutrition and the idea of eating healthy than their actual health. He also mentions the food industry, nutrition science and how culture affects the way we eat and make food choices. While Pollan is right about all these factor that affect our eating habits, there is more to it than that. Convenience, affordability and social influence also affects our food choices making them inadequate.
In the article “Food has played an important role in America's social justice movements,” by Martina Guzman wrote about this protest that involved this Chef called Nezza Bendele, she is a woman that cooks for social activists because she wanted them to have food in their stomachs when they are fighting for justice. Then, Guzman goes and talks about how in the 1950’s and 60’s people were fighting for rights women were a big part because they helped other activists have food. There was also talk about how the Black Panthers were the first ones to have a breakfast program that gave food to children that went to school. Feeding America is a nonprofit organization based in the Unites States whose goal is to take on the hunger crisis in America. Their beginnings start in the 1960s by a man named John van Hengel. Being retired, he spent his time volunteering at a soup kitchen. He met a woman who would go through the garbage bins behind the grocery stores. She mentioned to him that she wished there was a place where food that is going to be thrown out but still good, can be sent so people like her could have access to. This was the beginnings to Van Hengels idea for a food bank was born.
Imagine a place where every time you ate food you got sick. A place where nothing was actually good for you. Somewhere like your town where everyone is usual in the hospital. This will happen to us because of what we put in our bodies. We don’t know what is in the foods we eat because our brain mentality is if the foods taste good then it’s ok to eat. One thing that is most common in the foods we eat is genetically modified organisms. GMOs are unsafe because they are unhealthy, they cause health risks and they hurt the environment.
Hunger in America is all over America and has to stop. For years starving children stay in their schools because they do not have a enough food at home. There are many organizations helping out to stop this starvation.
The America I believe in has food for everyone. In this world today, many people don’t know when their next meal will be. One in six people in America face hunger. We can help stop this by volunteering at food pantries or donating food to your local food bank. Just by doing something as simple as donating food, one by one we can each help stop hunger in America.

The importance of this issue is that these GMO’s can actually have a negative effect in our society in general. It could mutate in a negative way and cause cancer or other diseases. Genetically modified food should be strictly controlled due to its various detrimental effects on the environment, human health, and potentially insect/animal effects.
The most common method that has been applied to reduce child hunger is through food donation. There are in fact many charity and organizations are providing channels for people to donate food and money to children who suffered from severe hunger and insufficient nutrition. For instance, the global organization, Food Bank, collects excessive food and grocery products from various sources, and distributes it to impoverished families and individuals (Schneider, 756). The main purpose of this plan is to reduce the wastage of food by donating it to people in need. By doing so, both parties are benefitted from each other. The accumulation of all these food can in fact make a huge impact on easing child hunger, especially to the underdeveloped countries. Hunger is a major problem in the U.S. Everyday 21,000 people die from hunger or hunger related issues. On average, someone dies every 4 seconds. The U.S. is almost in the top 100 countries in the world for death by hunger. The saddest part is, most of those are children. My group, four people from Neil Armstrong Middle School in Forest Grove, Oregon, wanted to see what we could do about this sad fact. We want to spread the word and help people, especially children, in the U.S. that live in homes where they might not get a meal every day. We are looking to improve the lives of children and teens across the U.S., by making sure they do have a meal everyday. We want to get the word out to people and let them know how big of a problem this is.

Food injustice is a big problem in the United States. First off, there are disorders that come from food like obesity, anorexia, and other kinds of eating habits. One solution for this is more laws restricting amount of fat in products as well as better labeling on food. Another problem dealing with food is the production, some fruit pickers and meat processors are abused by their bosses. A solution for this is better laws against unfair treatment to employees.
