The poem “ Nothing gold can stay” written by Robert Frost, has a lot to do with the book the “Outsiders” written by S.E. Hinton, because how all the boys had a good ol’ time with the soc girls. Also how the boys in the Outsiders always get jumped by the socs. The poem has a relationship with life, because it is talking about how every good thing must come to an end. “So dawn goes down today” a line from the poem has a lot to do with the chain of events that happens in the story. For example in the book, Pony and Johnny save those little kids in chapter 6 (S.E. Hinton page 78). Johnny whose face was reddened by the heat of the burning church which the kids were trapped in. Pony and Johnny were tossing kids out the window, when they had tossed the last kid pony jumped out but Johnny didn't make it, he got hit with a burning ceiling Joyce. They both were transported to the hospital by ambulance. This is all an example of the poem because then, saving those kids they got hurt themselves. Finally, the poem has a lot of truth in real life. For example when you have a perfect day, you want it to be like that forever. But eventually you would get tired of it being a perfect day all the time, so you would strive for a better day. In the book The Outsiders, written by S.E. Hinton, is about two separate groups. One group is called the socs, and the other one is called the greasers. They have some difficulties getting along. A good example would be when the mother in the story talks about her life using a metaphor of a staircase. In the beginning of the poem, the mother says, "Well, son, I’ll tell you: Life for me ain’t been no crystal stair. It’s had tacks in it, And splinters, [...] But all the time, I’se been a-climbin’ on" (Hughes lines 1-9).
