What two variables were being tested for a correlation? The correlation study I decided to review is titled "Nostalgia Maintains Psychological Comfort". I began my search by using the keyword music; however, I located this study and found the study to be interesting. The two variables being examined were nostalgia and human peace of mind and body, but mostly body. Is nostalgia triggered by coldness instead of warmth like most of believe? We tend to ensemble the meanings of the words nostalgia and warmth, but is this true, and could instead nostalgia is more likely to be experienced and excited because of coldness? Study 1: 19 undergraduates (13 of the people were woman). Subjects rated their daily level of nostalgia on a scale of 0-10, and were asked to report their information around 10. am. via text messaging. Ten = extremely nostalgic. Study 1: contained no set definition of nostalgia, so subjects were free to conclude what nostalgia meant. Researchers received their temperature data from a local weather station. Concluded: Participants felt more nostalgic on colder days; however, there was limitations. People experience more discomfort on colder day compared to warmer days, so subjects could have stayed inside or decided to wear warmer clothing protecting themselves from the cold weather. Study 2: Because of the results from study one researchers manipulate the ambient temperature to test the effect of temperature on nostalgia. Random assigned participants were exposed to three levels of temperatures: : 20 °C, 24 °C, 28 °C. 24°C Temperature being the most comfortable and 20°C being not so comfortable because its under 24°C.
