It was a gloomy Saturday morning with thick fog covering the city like a blanket. Jack was gazing out of the window waiting for this strange fog to disappear. He made his bed, making sure everything looked perfect, the way he was taught in the marines and went downstairs to make a cup of coffee and take care of his mother, father and younger brother, but something else was on his mind besides taking care of them. He really was getting worried about what had been going on lately, on tv they kept on rerunning president West’s latest speech about North Korea and their uprising on every single channel. All of a sudden like someone grab the fog and threw it to a different city it lifted in a blink of an eye and what Jack saw in the street surprised …show more content…
He saw the cities burning, planes going down and just plain old chaos. What Jack did not understand is that how the world was ending. Why were the cities burning and planes crashing? Suddenly he knew the answer, it was the disease that had been spreading. by the looks of it those people in the streets had the disease and were killing people sending people into a frenzy and panic. He thought to himself, why don’t I have the disease? maybe I am losing it and just don’t know it he decided.
Jack decided he would sit down and evaluate his supplies: 1 knife, 6 cans of food, M9 with two cartridges of bullets, tent and sleeping bag and last but not least paracord. After evaluating his situation Jack got up and started walking again the only thing blocking him from the mountains was a small town and with no immediate threats and with his M9 out Jack decided to go through it. walking slowly and trying to make as little noise as possible, Jack made his way down the street when all of a sudden he sees a group of people ahead and they are running to him. Using his marine skills, he rolls into a back alleyway ready to shoot anything that would come into the alley. Someone went to the corner of the alleyway just out of Jack’s sight and yelled “Don’t shoot we mean no

However in the back of his mind he was thinking if he could trust the man or not but Jack’s suspicion overtook him like it always does and he just stayed in his position in the alley way. “Fine have it your way be here alone,” as the man walked away Jack started thinking frantically and I started sprinting after him finally coming to his senses and followed the man to the mountains.
“ So Jack where are from?” Asked Bill, who was the man that he followed here, “I am from a small city in Utah,” Jack said, trying not to reveal much about himself. He was still feeling very suspicious about these and how kind they were to him even though he was a complete stranger. Jack, however, decided to overcome his suspicion and said, “So why aren't we infected with that strange disease?” “ Well, it is because we are immune to it haven’t you figured it out yet?” “Wait what we are immune?” “Yep,” Jack could not believe what he was hearing. Immune how? is that even possible? Jack eyed each of them and from his observation, none they looked fazed because of the fact that they were immune to the disease that was destroying
Jack Reacher notices a woman struggling to carry her recently dry cleaned clothes. As she dropped her clothes on the dirty Chicago street, Jack decides to escort her to her destination while carrying her cumbersome load, which was easy for a strong 6 foot 4 man. As they begin to walk to her car they are cut off by two men holding pistols right at their stomachs. Being ex-military Jack Reacher starts to evaluate the grave situation, thinking of a way out without harm to him or her. He looks at the man facing him, he is a fit man, but appears very nervous and jittery as if he hadn’t done this before. Jack then looks at the man across from her. He observes his calmness and his stature. He can see that it is not his first time holding someone at gun point. The men are both in top physical shape, but not too much for Jack to handle. The man across from her commands both of them to get into the back seat of the white car on the side of the street. Jack in a matter of seconds examines the intense situation. He knows how to disarm the first man but can’t tell if the woman knows what to do in this event.

Jack then successfully convinces many big'uns and little'uns to come along with him and join a tribe of savages. These savages have face-paint on, which makes them anonymous. This anonimity allows for each tribe member to do things he would not have normally done because of the fear of being judged by society. They basically had no shame left. So they went out, killed a pig, acted as if they were raping it, and cut off its head.

He is sick, and exhausted from work. There is no woman in his life, and his only friend is leaving town. However, Jack has a subtle, semi-conscious attraction to Mabel but he is in a state of denial, and repression. As Jack goes to visit Mabel’s brother’s he becomes intrigued by their gloomy, proud, and strangely detached sister. He very carefully avoids talking to her, the narrator says: “Mabel looked at him with her steady, dangerous eyes, that always made him uncomfortable, unsettling his superficial ease.” (5.) Later on Jack passes Mabel and they exchange a look; the narrator says: “There was a heavy power in her eyes which laid hold of his whole being, as if he had drunk some powerful drug. He had been feeling weak and done before. Now the life came back into him, he felt delivered from his own fretted, daily

It happened all at once; the end of all spirit. Coated with a cloud of fog the night was calm. I had left my office and was walking towards my car. As I sat down, I noticed something quite odd about the night. The streets were vacant and hidden with nothing but the moonlight laid across them, and the only sign of life was a noise. Construction. Although I had this burning sensation that something was wrong I continued. Slowly I pulled out of the parking lot and went home.
