Throughout history multiple empires and countries have come and gone to power. That is mainly due to how much oil, land, allies, how high their population is, and how their military preforms. With all of these playing into a role on how strong their empire or country represents them across the entire world. Depending how strong they are, relates on how much of a threat or helpful ally they could be. Weapons of mass destruction play a critical part of power plays between countries of the world. This is why North Korea is such an immediate threat due to the countries insane leader. Kim Jong Un is a unstable dictator who isn't in the right state of mind to control millions of lives and millions and millions of dollars in weapons and weapons of destruction. They have been putting them in extreme stress and bad conditions since the end of the cold war. The dictatorship has been killing the residents of that country. They are cruel and need to change something before it's too late. If the people of north korea had the resources to rise up against the government they would be able change the land into a more free type of government so they would worship freely and be able to have a normal life instead of worrying about maybe losing everything to a madman.
I also believe that taking over the nuclear programs would work because we wouldn't have to worry about the chances of our homelands being decimated due to the nuclear warfare. The nuclear weapons are single handedly the most dangerous weapons on the planet. If you were able to take them away from a leader who is uncontrollable you would be able to decrease the threat from that particular person/country. Officially and originally referred to as, the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, North Korea has had a dictatorship since 1948. (DPRK) On September 9, 1948 the United Nations elected South of Korea to be the Republic of Korea. They then elected North of Korea to be the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea electing Kim Il- Sung as the Prime Minster. This started the dictatorship in North Korea that still reigns on today.
Today, China and North Korea are two extremely powerful communist countries. However, communism was not always present. In fact, communism was a new political theory proposed and published on February 21st of 1848 by Karl Marx in his famous “Communist Manifesto.” In 1949, approximately one hundred years after the Communist Manifesto was written, Mao Zedong came into power and henceforth, adopted a form of communism. It was after World War II and the Chinese Civil War, that the Chinese Communists were able to overthrow Chiang Kai Shek and the Chinese Nationalist Party; hence, this new government swore to form a “brand new” China, which modeled and resembled closely to Marxism-Leninism. North Korea and China’s geography, mutual history, and ideology proved to make them similar in many aspects in terms of reforms and revolutions; however, it was not until death of Mao Zedong and the rise of Deng Xiao Ping in the mid-1970s that drew the distinct line between North Korea and China communism.
Just how bad are pure socialist economies? North Korea is the most well known socialist nation. The government came to control all economic decisions in the country. Most of the country’s resources were sent to the military. The country also used its resources on developing a nuclear program. The military growth used up all of the country’s necessary resources. In the late 90s and early 2000s, the majority of the country was suffering from hunger and malnutrition because food was scarce. Millions ended up dead, and those who survived only did because of the aid from other countries (like South Korea and other capitalist countries). Out of all the dangerous powers and authority our government wields, possibly the most threatening powers are nuclear weapons. People tend to be frightened by things they do not understand, which make nuclear weapons a perfect catalyst for fear. These weapons have the most overwhelming and destructive power known to man; although, nuclear weapons are only safe in countries that try to maintain harmony and stability. Nuclear weapons are defined as “explosive devices whose destructive potential derives from the release of energy that accompanies the splitting or combining of atomic nuclei.” This power is both dangerous and unstable in the hands of small erratic countries.
Firstly North Korea is one of the toughest, scariest places to live because of their dictatorship. In 1993 Kim ll - Sung died of a heart attack and his son Kim Jong-ll took power and set out on making the nation a member of “axis of evil”. Secondly the economy was collapsing and the great famine was taking place. During the famine those who were to young, to old, to poor, or to honest to steal or find food starved and inevitably died. Another reason is in North Korea going to jail is one of the worst things to ever happen. Prisoners are beaten severely. Punishments sometimes included breaking fingers, and to sit or stand in horrible, excruciating positions for a long period of time. Escaping North Korea is also a huge task that doesn't always end up well. The bodies of North Koreans can also be found floating in the rivers after a failed attempt at escaping, although some have successfully made it out. Some say that the Dust Bowl and living in poverty are the hardest but, the Dust Bowl only lasted for about 10 years or so, and living in poverty has many people working to find a long lasting solution. The arrival of nuclear weapons transformed the international playing field permanently and new threats such as non-state actors have immerged as a result. Initially, only superpowers with nuclear arsenals had a global role as was evident during the Cold War between the U.S. and Soviet Union, but nuclear proliferation triggered a race to possess this power in the last 60 years.
Since the end of the Korean War, the United States has enacted policies to isolate and undermine the Kim Dynasty in North Korea. A key development took place in the past several decades where North Korea broke away from the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) to develop their own nuclear weapons and while lacking launch capabilities, they have been successful in their development. During this process, the United States took active policies to deter the North Koreans in pursuit of their goals. It is easy to assume that the United States took this stance in order to maintain a military edge in the region. But under closer examination, this neo-realist perspective does not explain why the United States pursued this policy. In reality, North Korea to this day does not pose a significant military threat, even with limited nuclear capabilities. A constructivist perspective is more able to explain US policy in this instance because it does not focus on sheer militaristic power. It takes into consideration the state's identities which drives their interests. The identities of the US and North Korea and the interactions between them drove both nations to the point of acquiring and deterring nuclear use.
Many people know about the situation regarding North Korea and their nuclear missiles, and many people know that North Korea is engaged in peace talks with other countries. Why though? What is the real reason for North Korea to engage in peace talks? Is North Korea getting worried about their safety? It is also well know that the United Nations have placed sanctions on North Korea to try and squeeze their economy, but is it working? They must be working if North Korea is ready to talk peace. Maybe North Korea isn't engaging in peace talks to make peace, but to get past or remove sanctions.
When one country begins to build nuclear bombs this automatically puts the other country at a disadvantage. So the other country then in turns has the desire to figure out this technology and begins to build its own nuclear bombs. By doing this dangers lurk and the potential of arm races begin to arise. Each country wants to outdo the other and have a bigger and dangerous way of gaining ultimate control. Nuclear power puts fate into man’s hands. At any given moment one country could wipe out another country by dropping a bomb. Although not all of the other countries have the ability to build a massive bomb because of the lack of money.

It is a well-known fact that the dropping of the two atomic bombs near the end of World War II in 1945 ushered in the dawn of the Atomic Age. For the first time in human history, the world was introduced to the awesome power of nuclear weapons. Since that time, there have been several different nuclear threats to the world, and one of those threats can be found along the Pacific Rim, in the country of North Korea. Like the dropping of the atomic bombs, it is also known that the North Korean government has admitted to possessing nuclear weapons, and in doing so, it stands as a silent, potential nuclear danger to the rest of the world.
