The volunteers come on their lunch breaks and other spare time to help. Everyone still gets served even with the huge number difference. 5. The primary goal is the idea of God and that God is very important. They do feel that God and social services are both equally important. They state they love God and love people as God has taught. They brought hope to people. 8. What kinds of difficulties does your community face? Probe: What sort of influence does your program have on these difficulties? Clinton, Lower East Side, and Greenwich Village face difficult in available jobs and places to stay. They state that across Manhattan a person on a fixed income cannot afford to live. They try to meet the people at whatever level of need they have. Whether it be getting an ID, or helping someone in a shelter go back to school, or helping a person apply for services. 9. What percentage of the population that you serve do you think is affected by these difficulties? About 65%, because about 35% have jobs and homes but are not making ends meet. The 65% I would say are homeless and come to the soup kitchen. What does this organization hope to achieve in 2-3 years and how do you think it will help the community/populations that you serve? What they would like to achieve is to make people understand that with God in their sprit no matter where they are in social it make it a lot better. To give them hope and help them understand that it’s okay to ask for help because their situation is momentary. That their situation shall pass and change their mentality that they have to fight for their future and not only rely on public things. That they are capable and can do better than that. That they can teach them how to fish so they can do it from now on. They do for them today in hopes that they will do for someone else
