Noah Anthony Robles, to some this is just a name of some kid from some town, but to me, this is the name of the boy who changed my life completely. It was Friday May 15, 2015 at 10:00 p.m. when things took a turn for the worst, Noah committed suicide. Noah was no ordinary kid, he had big dreams, one dream being of course, to be an Aggie. See nobody ever expected for him to be one to take his own life, so on my ordinary Saturday night when I got that phone call confirming his death, my life took a huge turn. We in the FFA lost a brother, but the Robles family lost a son and a brother. Being in the FFA we never leave one to go through this kind of pain alone, so we all came together to unite as one big family and are slowly helping heal each
impacted heart back. My view of life changed, because this proved that no matter how someone’s life may seem to be going, nobody can truly see or feel the hurt in someone else. Noah Robles, my motivation to fighting through this crazy thing we call life.
Many people have come and gone through my life. Like a revolving door, but it doesn’t matter how long they stayed in my life. To me, it only matters on how they made an impact on me. I think about Kurt Zuidmulder every day, he was a coach, teacher, and father. He was also a friend to the whole community of Hermantown, MN, and Hibbing, MN. He was the greatest human I have ever met, and I will never forget him. Kurt affected me through his larger than life personality, his incredible sense of humor, and his overall kindness.
This fall, two seniors at Acton Boxborough committed suicide, and they affected me greatly. Not only do I consider myself empathetic but I knew both of the boys. The first, Matt, was a friend of mine. We met in fifth grade when we were put on the same recreational basketball team and continued our friendship into high school. He was in my English class and I remember Wednesday was the day after he killed himself and rumors began to spread. Even once I got into my English class and he was not there I assumed he was out and it was a dumb rumor. My day continued but in one of my electives his girlfriend asked if she could talk to me and that is when I got the news. Immediately I was in disbelief and thought he was stronger than that he would have stayed to
Last March, an undefeated basketball squad faced a tragic loss, and unfortunately it was not the game. An undefeated season was on the line for the Fennvile Blackhawks, and the whole town was in attendance. The game went into overtime and Wes Leonard was ready for it. Seconds left in overtime, the score was tied again. It was the last play of the game, and Wes Leonard drove to the basket for a lay up, putting them up by two. Time expired and fans rushed the court looking for the hero that made that game winning basket. Seconds later that hero collapsed to the ground. Wes Leonard, a 16 year old healthy boy, died minutes after his dream, a game winning shot, of a cardiac arrest. ( Moisse Sec. 1 Par. 1-3)
Have you ever had someone that you look up to? There is somebody that lots of students at West Delaware look up to that teaches a lot of things. This hero has taught everybody in general many things involving, school, sports, and to be a good person in general. Brett Mather, my hero, is a coach and a teacher at West Delaware High School. Coaches strive to make students and athletes better people on, and off the court. Mather does an amazing job with that.
Damian Wyatt would always remember this day. The day when the San Jose Earthquakes chose him, a rookie, over all star Robbie Keane. As a first round pick, he had an immense amount of pressure on his shoulders. As he walked into the press room after getting drafted, the alternating blue and green tiles popped out at him. The blue tiles had the SJ logo inscribed on it while the green tiles had the MLS logo on it. All of those tiled were on the wall behind him though. As he turned around, his heart plummeted. Dozens of reporters were itching to ask him questions, like little kids begging for candies.
In the 1980s, Daniel built a house with his brother. He was very proud of the house because it was big enough for his family. On November 10, 1990, Daniel’s first grandson, Axle Russell, was born. Axle was Stacy’s son. Daniel was very proud to be a grandfather. On October 1, 1994 I was born. My parents surprised my grandad by naming me after him. He was very happy that I would carry on his name.
Joseph Connelly Gazzola used to be a Northeastern University football star. He has since taken his own life, and it has hit everyone he knew very hard.
October 2, 2001 started like a normal Tuesday morning at Hotchkiss High School. As I lazily wandered past Mr. Schelle into his advisory class, I noticed that he seemed quite upset about something. I dared not ask what had happened, for it was really none of my business. Soon after the bell rang, Mr. Schelle, whose eyes were welling up with tears, struggled to compose himself enough to say, "Guys, I've got some bad news for you." I sensed a bit of hesitation as he proceeded to read a letter as clearly as possible. The letter explained that Derek Grillos, a sophomore at our school and a good friend of mine, had died the night before. At first, my mind failed to register his name. I sat wondering who Derek Grillos was. As everyone questioned Mr. Schelle to find out who Derek was, I sat quiet. Finally, the fact that Derek, my "soccer buddy", had died hit me and hit me hard. I could feel my eyes darting back and forth in confusion and my heart pounding so hard I could feel it in my toes. I stared aimlessly at everything yet nothing. I su...
Today our prayers go out to the people of West, Texas, in the aftermath of last night’s deadly explosion at a fertilizer plant. A tight-knit community has been shaken, and good, hard-working people have lost their lives. I want to thank th...
In the classes, Coach provided the class with a safe and warm environment to learn, providing every scholar with an equal opportunity to succeed higher and higher above all society’s critics about students in New Orleans. We proved and continue to prove what people said were impossible, by our rapid growth. On the court other coaches look for skills, but not my coach. She looked for growth, she confidently believes in the idea of a no perfect team, there were always room for growth. Despite how many losses, the scores weren’t what mattered. Instead, it was about the growth and fight of never giving up until the buzzer went off at the end of every game. I was a part of a team that came from 0 wins from freshman year to having my team finally able to enter the playoff with just one more win to reach. My view of life began to change and evolved over time since
This season was only the second year that I had been in marching band, even though we did do parades in middle school. The year before, I was selected to be drum major of the upcoming marching season. I was excited to meet the challenge of getting back to the state championships. It was also nerve-racking because I felt if we didn't make it to state, it would be my fault. To be truthful, later on I experienced both sentiments from some of the most influential, heart-warming, absolutely awesome friends that I have ever had the pleasure of knowing. This would be the year that our band would adopt its slogan, its mission statement: Band #1.
Robus lived a very hostile and bitter life since the only thing he had to live for disappeared seven years prior. He had always been exceptionally unlucky, and this was because he was cursed as a child. His own father had sold him to an evil sorcerer when he was an infant, but the curse made it inevitable for history to repeat itself. After the curse took effect, he spent every moment perfecting his sorcery skills. His goal was to take back what was his someday; the daughter that his wife tragically died for while giving birth and was kidnapped soon after. He channeled all his sorrow and anger from this life changing occurrence into looking for his long lost daughter. It took him many years, but he finally found out where she was; she was located in a town called Davenport.
Try to envision being born without any hands or feet, arms or legs and given no warning or medical reason or explanation for having that congental anomaly. Now picture how you would live if you could not walk, do daily tasks, such as feeding yourself, brushing your teeth, going to the bathroom on your own, or writing, etc. I am sure you could only imagine the countless number of obstacles and challenges Nick faced just with things like life skills on a daily basis. However, Nick has overcome what most people would say is absolutely impossible, and he is now traveling world wide sharing his testimony, and he gives God all of the credit for his strength to do this.
My brother’s junior year I had seen a little improvement, but not enough. My mom had gotten remarried that summer; I think that had a little to do with his behavior improving, due to their being a man in the house. Sadly hakim wasn’t able to change his conduct quick enough. On October 10, 2016 he snuck out the house; on his way back, he was shot and killed by a drive by shooting. It all happen so fast my mom came screaming in my room “Keelah, Keelah , Keelah!” I had never woken up so fast in my life. She told me my brother was shot, and my heart just dropped.
I have meet with more than my share of difficult challenges. This one will remain with me always, occasionally playing over in my mind when I look at my son. It was April of 1993, the eve of Easter Sunday; my children and I were coloring Easter eggs in anticipation of the big hunt the following morning. The kids were excited and having a blast, especially my three-and-a-half- year old son Joey. With the eggs freshly colored and carrots left out for the Easter Bunny, I put my children to bed, prepared the Easter baskets and retired myself. What happened the next morning would change not only my perspective, but also my entire life.
