Nina Dobrev Research Paper

Nina Dobrev is a Canadian Actress, well known for her roles in both Degrassi and the Vampire Diaries.

Dobrev was born in Bulgaria and moved to Canada when she was two and that’s where she grew up.

She has a lot of interests, such as gymnastics and dancing and she also models. But her true passion is acting, she just loves experiencing characters’ feelings and lives.

Dobrev has not experienced domestic violence herself, but the characters she’s played has and this brought her attention to domestic violence. She sees is as a large issue that needs to be brought to light.

So Dobrev and others partnered up with the “It’s on us” campaign and helped create a PSA about sexual violence and assault, called “One thing.”

The PSA mainly focused on the

aspect of consent and how sexual assault is a very big issue that needs to be changed.
The “It’s on us” campaign focuses on making sure that people recognize that without consent, sex is rape, to help people identify the signs and the situations where sexual assault may occur.

Also to know when to intervene and help create an environment where sexual assault doesn’t happen and create a safe space for victims.

Yes, this campaign does focus on the issues of sexual assault, but this also relates to domestic violence.

Domestic violence can be hard to spot and it’s important to be knowledgeable of the signs, in order to help friends and family.

The “It’s on us” campaign’s main focus is college students and domestic violence is something that should be talked about to college students. Young adults are at a large risk of being assaulted within a relationship, just because of possible financial struggles and the fact that they’re young and haven’t had many experiences.

Dobrevs campaign helps to educate and that’s the main goal and it should be broader than just sexual assault. It’s important for there to be a safe space for students in danger and give them tips on how to better their friend’s or their own situation.

Often times, women are afraid to ask for help and they don’t have friends that can help them, not because they don’t want to, but usually because they don’t know how to approach the

situation.
Dobrev’s experience and roles she’s played on TV are why she is the perfect spokesperson for operation uncover. Her popularity will no doubt add a lot of media and citizen attention, which will most definitely make a difference and help uncover the topic of domestic violence and help put a stop to it.
