This commercial by Nike who used its platform during the grammy awards to share a strong message about equality. The message is deliver by the the biggest stars from Serena Williams, Lebron James, Kevin Durant. Nike was responding to the Under Armour's CEO comment about Donal Trump. The message was in black and white with the only word EQUALITY. The behind the scene look at the commercial shows what equality mean for each athlete. The company plan to donate $5 million to organizations that fight for equality.
Soon after launch on January 28th, 1986, the space shuttle Challenger broke apart and shattered the nation. The tragedy was on the hearts and minds of the nation and President Ronald Reagan. President Reagan addressed the county, commemorating the men and woman whose lives were lost and offering hope to Americans and future exploration. Reagan begins his speech by getting on the same level as the audience by showing empathy and attempting to remind us that this was the job of the crew. He proceeds with using his credibility to promise future space travel. Ultimately, his attempt to appeal to the audience’s emotions made his argument much stronger. Reagan effectively addresses the public about the tragedy while comforting, acknowledging, honoring and motivating his audience all in an effort to move the mood from grief to hope for future exploration.
In 102 Minutes, Chapter 7, authors Dwyer and Flynn use ethos, logos, and pathos to appeal to the readers’ consciences, minds and hearts regarding what happened to the people inside the Twin Towers on 9/11. Of particular interest are the following uses of the three appeals.

In the movie Bowling for Columbine, Michael Moore uses rhetoric in a very successful way by how he carried himself as your typical everyday American guy. Moore was effectively able to use the appeal to ethos, logos, and pathos by the way he conveyed his message and dressed when interviewing such individuals. Throughout the movie he gives his audience several connections back to the Columbine shooting and how guns were the main target. Moore is able to push several interviews in the direction of which he wants too get the exact answer or close to what he wanted out of them. He effectively puts himself as the main shot throughout the film to give the audience more understanding and allowing a better connection to the topic.

In the book Into the Wild, Jon Krakauer wrote about Christopher McCandless, a nature lover in search for independence, in a mysterious and hopeful experience. Even though Krakauer tells us McCandless was going to die from the beginning, he still gave him a chance for survival. As a reader I wanted McCandless to survive. In Into the Wild, Krakauer gave McCandless a unique perspective. He was a smart and unique person that wanted to be completely free from society. Krakauer included comments from people that said McCandless was crazy, and his death was his own mistake. However, Krakauer is able to make him seem like a brave person. The connections between other hikers and himself helped in the explanation of McCandless’s rational actions. Krakauer is able to make McCandless look like a normal person, but unique from this generation. In order for Krakauer to make Christopher McCandless not look like a crazy person, but a special person, I will analyze the persuading style that Krakauer used in Into the Wild that made us believe McCandless was a regular young adult.
Creators want their commercials, tv shows, movies or articles to draw the audience in. They strive to get your attention using ethos, pathos and logos. A Nike commercial with LeBron James as the star did just that. The commercial about following through with your dreams and becoming big out of nowhere is spine chilling and inspiring.
In 1729, Jonathan Swift published a pamphlet called “A Modest Proposal”. It is a satirical piece that described a radical and humorous proposal to a very serious problem. The problem Swift was attacking was the poverty and state of destitution that Ireland was in at the time. Swift wanted to bring attention to the seriousness of the problem and does so by satirically proposing to eat the babies of poor families in order to rid Ireland of poverty. Clearly, this proposal is not to be taken seriously, but merely to prompt others to work to better the state of the nation. Swift hoped to reach not only the people of Ireland who he was calling to action, but the British, who were oppressing the poor. He writes with contempt for those who are oppressing the Irish and also dissatisfaction with the people in Ireland themselves to be oppressed.
Pollan’s article provides a solid base to the conversation, defining what to do in order to eat healthy. This company has made a grave mistake by releasing this commercial that will take some time to come back from, if ever. The communication of this ad should have clearly been thought out more. Clearly, using a white celebrity such as Kendall Jenner was not a good idea. Through -out the entire advertisement, it demonstrated the beauty and skill sets. Instead of using a white person to be the main source of the commercial, it would have been more received if using someone that clearly understood and made it clear what the black lives matter movement was all about. Being the CEO of the company, if trying to make a statement with so much controversy today, I would have made a team of different ethnic groups and joined together with ideas from each to make a great and a meaningful advertisement that would unite
In a society where the sports marketing industry predominantly targeted men, Nike sought to go against the status quo and empower young girls to encourage them to participate in sports. Nike identifies the social issues of gender inequality by attacking the stereotype that young girls should not be encouraged to engage in physical in sports. The campaign identifies that young women will have a greater self-esteem and self-confidence if involved in sports.
The movie trailer “Rio 2”, shows a great deal of pathos, ethos, and logos. These rhetorical appeals are hidden throughout the movie trailer; however, they can be recognized if paying attention to the details and montage of the video. I am attracted to this type of movies due to the positive life messages and the innocent, but funny personifications from the characters; therefore, the following rhetorical analysis will give a brief explanation of the scenes, point out the characteristics of persuasive appeals and how people can be easily persuaded by using this technique, and my own interpretation of the message presented in the trailer.

It seems like during that period, the inequality existed everywhere and no one had the ability to change it; however, Kozol tried his best to turn around this situation and keep track of all he saw.
