It was on February 7, 2016, the day I was waiting for, similar to my best day ever. I was twelve years old at the time. I am enduring on my couch with my parents and my sister Devona. My dog Bailey, who was a puppy at the time, was relaxing right next to me on his bed. It was the day for the 50th Super Bowl. It was a football game final of the vicious Carolina Panthers against the timid Denver Broncos. I was on the Panthers side because they were best in the NFL, so I thought for sure they would win. I even got myself a Carolina Panthers baseball cap that lights up in the dark when you click on a button. In my family, before the game, you would either hear me saying, Go Panthers Go or Let's go Broncos. Now it was time, the Super Bowl began …show more content…
I was crying and mad, thinking, why did I support a team who was just a fraud? The rest of the first half went on and finished with Denver with a lead of thirteen to seven. My sister said, “See Devin, I told you that the Panthers are terrible and the Broncos are better.” “I don't think so,” I replied in a low voice. “It's just the first half. They can still make a comeback in the second half and win the Super Bowl.” After what I said, I said to myself, “I really regret joining the Panthers side, they’re just a fraud. Who cares if they have the best record in the league this year, it only matters about winning the Super Bowl.” Then my conscience said to me, “Don't say that, just believe in yourself. You got this.” I replied, “Fine.” Before you knew it, it was the second half concert, featuring Coldplay, Beyoncé, and Bruno Mars. It was so amazing, I even stopped eating chicken wings for a while because of the best of their songs performed, especially Coldplay with an amazing performance in the song “Adventure of a Lifetime” yet “Hymn for the Weekend” made it to the song list, even though it wasn't chosen in the list in the beginning before the game. They also added confetti, fireworks, lights, and vibrant color, which made me feel like I was in
On the plane ride home and in the airport I was still thinking about the game. The Carolina Panthers had blown out the Buccaneers by 30 points! Cam Newton scored 3 touchdowns himself! I was still excited about the whole game until I fell asleep in the
I’m thinking especially of “Billy Lynn’s Long Halftime Walk,” Ben Fountain’s shaggy novel, the winner of last year’s National Book Critics Circle Award for fiction. Here now is a book by Nate Jackson called “Slow Getting Up: A Story of NFL Survival From the Bottom of the Pile,” and it’s everything you want football memoirs to be but never are: hilarious, dirty, warm, human, honest, weird.
The memory of the Super Bowl season, every game inching closer and closer to the ultimate goal, is indeed a good memory. This season held many successes, with many eccentric, ecstatic, and outright amazing plays, atmospherically energizing the theater for the Super Bowl game. Cheering, screaming, laughing, eating, the crowd in the theater was one hundred percent into the competition. As soon as Super Bowl XLVIII started, there was no doubt who would be the champion. From the very beginning, it was an absolute mauling by the Seahawks. I appreciate the Seahawks and their greatness, their domination during the season leading up to the Super Bowl.
Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Lucky Whitehead has had his NFL contract terminated after being falsely attached to a shoplifting crime in June. Reports emerged on Tuesday that he had missed a court hearing relating to a case in which he had stolen $40 worth of goods from a Virginia convenience store in June. Players like Lucky are being falsely accused everyday. The NFL needs to update their fine policy.
It was a beautiful Thanksgiving morning ,I had just woken up to my dad turning on my room lights ,shouting, “CJ,WAKE UP WE’RE GOING TO THE COWBOYS GAME!” I jumped out of my bed yelling,”OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOK!” Once I finished getting ready, me and my dad got into his truck and drove to the Toyota Stadium. Me and my dad waited in line for what seemed like an eternity, but finally we got our tickets read and took our seats right next to the cowboys touchdown, so cool!
The score was 20-21, the Vikings were losing to the Cowboys with 3 seconds left, and they were at their own 47 yard line. The winner of the game would advance to the Super Bowl. Sam Bradford the Vikings star quarterback took the snap and handed the ball to to the Vikings wide receiver Cordarrelle Patterson. Patterson began to run the the ball to the right side, but then he did something that nobody expected. Patterson stopped and threw the ball deep to wide receiver Adam Thielen. He caught the ball at the 10 yard line surrounded by two defenders. Right before being tackled Thielen lateraled the ball back Stefon Diggs, who ran untouched into the endzone for the winning touchdown.
When I started playing football I was about eleven years old. I played for my park organization which was Brown Park. My first team name I played for was the Titians. The coach for the Titians is the one who actually made me come play because he had seen me in the basketball gym. He said I could move for my size and would like me to play with him. I said no but then he went talk to my mom and next thing I know my mom tells me I am playing football next year. I was horrible the first couple weeks but got better later in the season. I became one the best defense lineman and offensive lineman players on the team. Then when I got older I played football in middle school at Acadian Middle and Lafayette Christian Academy. My first year playing running back was when I went to Acadian Middle. In my middle school years I was just the power back. Players, people, and even coaches all thought I could not have been a speed back. But, when I got to high school at Lafayette Christian Academy, I started showing a glimpse that I can be an overall line back. It did not truly happen until the biggest play of my career came. When I told my teammate, Sterling Miller
Draft pick day, never expected this day to happen. I remember playing football for the first time high school junior year. I never thought I would even get a scholarship to play college football, because the chances are low especially being in a private school. But when I got that letter from my dream school; I knew anything was possible and that if I worked hard enough I could get in the NFL. Well, all that hard worked paid off because now I'm sittng here second round pick in the draft going to the Giants with my favorite NFL player Odell Beckham. When they called my name, my heart dropped and my eyes filled with tears; I couldn't explain how I was feeling or what I was thinking besides "I made it, I'm actually here". As I walked up and shook
Hi I'm Andrew and these are the story's that have happen in my life. My family including my Dad would help me get better at what I like even when I wanted to quit he pushed me though it
It was the last Saturday in December of 1997. My brother, sister, and I were chasing after each other throughout the house. As we were running, our parents told us to come and sit down in the living room. They had to tell us something. So, we all went down stairs wondering what was going on. Once we all got down stairs, the three of us got onto the couch. Then, my mom said, “ Well…”
The nerves are raging, mainly in his stomach as the butterflies flutter till no end. "Is everything ok? Will everything go as planned?" He couldn't stop thinking about what might happen. Images were racing wild as he thought about his teammates going to battle without him. He couldn't comprehend why he had to let them handle it on their own. He has played with them since they were in eighth grade, and when they need him the most, all he can do is sit and cheer. He hates this feeling of helplessness, but at the same time he knows he has to do what little he can do, well.
I remember it as clear as day. It had been a fairly normal week, and a routine average day. It was a Friday and I was driving home from school in my trusty Toyota Tercel. I was getting into the dreaded mental set of the game that I would be playing in that night. I had to play in the band at halftime and it was the first performance of the season. The whole ride to my house I thought about the game and hoped and prayed that we wouldn't make huge fools of ourselves. Before I knew it, I was already home. I remember thinking that it felt like the shortest drive ever, getting to beautiful Rolling Oaks. When I got home, little did I know, that there would be a huge surprise waiting for me that would change my life forever.
It has been a long time since attending a football game at a stadium, a little over 14 years to be exact. The last time I went was in Pontiac, Michigan, I saw the Detroit Lions lose that day, like so many of their other games. I had been to a quite a few NFL games, but this was only going to be my second college game, the one thing I remember about that game was that the crowd was very rowdy, but it was a home game and we were the home team. I did feel bad for the visiting fans, the few that did show up. Today, UNT was playing Sothern Methodist University (SMU) at Jerald J Ford Stadium, it was an away game, so this time I was one of those visiting fans and I was wearing my UNT t-shirt., I was all by myself because my wife could not accompany
The moment had finally arrived, we were about to enter the newly built stadium. As we approached the entrance, there was a small line of people waiting their turn to be frisked. While waiting in line, I noticed that there were certain things not allowed into the stadium for safety reasons. One lady had a large chain that resembled a dog chain in her pocket. The guard told her to take it back to her car or throw it in the trash. When the lady threw her chain in the trash I realized how devoted some of these fans really were. I thought to myself," maybe I'm not as big of fan as I thought," and continued through the gates. After our entire group got through security we had to separate, due to the different seating assignments.
After the show had ended, I felt slightly empty. I had waited years and months for that night, and it was over in the blink of an eye. Although I was sad that the show was over, I felt completely content. Now, when I hear their songs, I get to remember what it felt like to hear the band perform them live. I can watch the videos and try to wrap my mind around how it was real. Going to my first concert was an unparalleled experience that I will always cherish. The ambiance, the band’s performance and the unity the audience
