Newton Minow's 'Vast Wasteland'

In Spider-man Uncle Ben said to Peter Parker ,“Remember, with great power, comes great responsibility.” When reading Newton Minow’s “Vast Wasteland” speech the quote came to myself because he was saying that the people and the government have a great responsibility when it comes to the power over television. The power of television first lies in the hands of the television broadcasters because they determine what is on the screen. Parents also play a role in the responsibilities as to what they allow to be shown in their households. The government also have very high responsibilities as to what they allow the broadcaster to show through the television. Many responsibilities come with television and many people hold the power as to whether it is for the good or evil.

The broadcasters have the most power and responsibilities when it comes to whether television is used for good or evil. Television broadcasters have the right to show anything they want through television. Broadcasters are the people who determine what is shown through the screen and what the people see of the world today. They have the great responsibilities as to if they want to use it for evil and to deceive people by telling them false information, or they use

it for good and tell the people the truth of what is going on in the world today. Broadcasters have just about all of the control over what is broad casted over television and what information is given or received through television. Broadcasters have the power as to whether television is shown in a good way or in a deceitful way.
Parents have a huge responsibility in what they show around their homes or around their children.

They have the responsibility of what they show to their children and how they show the world to their children. Parents have the power to not allow television in their homes and if they do allow it they have the power as to what they allow to be shown in their homes. Parents also have the power of what they allow their children to watch on television and if they see the good or the evil. They also have the responsibility of if their kids watch age appropriate shows and shows that teach them the right things. Parents have many responsibilities and power over television that can help mold the young children of this world and how they turn

The government has the responsibilities over making sure the world gets the news they need to in case of emergencies and to be able to prepare for things. They have the power over what truth is shown on television of the government and our society. The government also has the responsibility in emergency situations and crisis to tell the people how to prepare and what to prepare for in that specific situation. The government have the power over what they allow television to broadcast and whether they allow them to broadcast deceitful things. The government have many responsibilities in the television industry because if they didn't use their power for the good or fell back on their responsibilities the world could be in terrible trouble.
