Affective outcomes of virtual reality exposure therapy for anxiety and specific phobias: A meta-analysis Thomas D. Parsons, Albert A. Rizzo VR exposure therapy, (VRET), is used to alleviate anxiety and stress in participants. It helps with stopping irrational fears. VRET gives people another world to explore and release their tensions in. This world can be a way for this individual to do things that they can never dream of doing in the real world. The continued progress of this therapy finds many people being calm and stress free while in their virtual world. The authors pose the question involving virtual reality in psychological aspects. They have researched a good amount on the topic and provide quality information. Anxiety …show more content…
It can be seen as a new alternative to literary works, as well as film or television. The world of virtual reality offers endless options on the user’s preferences, and gives people an art form that is determined by each and every individual. The book discusses the technological advancement that led to Virtual reality. The concept of virtual reality provides a way for individuals to practice mental stimulation while also forming processes that would not be possible in a physical world. The author included personal experience in the book, and knows the topic well. This book mainly discusses the art aspect of VR, with the arguments being made about people being able to fully enjoy all forms of art if the immersion is as well as VR. While many enjoy reading and writing, others would prefer to create their own visions into reality. Virtual Reality stimulates the mind of an individual and shows “total art” in effect.Virtual Reality offers people the ability to experience things they never imagined; whether it is art, stunts, or favorite television shows. Video gaming has shown advancement in VR, as that is the main type of form in which the technology is …show more content…
It can be used for behavioral therapy, friendships over long distances, along with being a good attribute in any medical field. The product is broken down and explained, with the authors describing how it came to fruition and how to use the object to its full potential. Virtual Reality becoming common in society can be beneficial to the medical industry, and has potential for many other fields. It can further humanity, and has benefits towards education. Teachers and students can have many new ways of learning. Learning and teaching can only move forward with this technology. New studies can be administered for almost no cost. VR has the potential to improve a vast amount of jobs and can assist in the technological advancement of our

Exposure therapy, which is a cognitive behavioral approach, currently is considered one of the most effective treatments available (Cukor et al., 2009). Rizzo et al., (2010) talks about one such example of exposure therapy is Virtual Reality Exposure Therapy (VRET). The object of V...
This paper will first argue that according to Glasser’s “Reality Theory”, individuals choose their own behavior. By raising each individual in a safe secure environment, they will develop the psychological ability to make better decisions throughout his or her life. (Corey, 1977/1991) Next, it will discuss key concepts involved in Reality Therapy. Then it will explain various techniques used in this form of therapy. It will then analyze the target population. Finally, it will develop a scenario, using reality therapy, as a basis to present a hypothetical patient, as a counselor discussing the strategies that would be used to counsel this client.
Definition of virtual reality is "A technology that assures participants that he was actually in another place by replacing the main sensory input with data received by the computer" [6] [10]. One of the key elements of the virtual reality of cyberspace; it is a space fantasy or simulation environment. Which is always linked here is a virtual world and immersion virtual reality, perception is born into the world of alternatives such as ethereal or other point of view of our world
The term Virtual Reality (VR) is used by many different people with many meanings. There are some people to whom VR is a specific collection of technologies, that is a Head Mounted Display, Glove Input Device and Audio. Some other people stretch the term to include conventional books, movies or pure fantasy and imagination. However, for purposes of this research, we restrict VR to computer mediated systems. We would define Virtual Reality as a way for humans to visualize, manipulate and interact with computers and extremely complex data.
The idea that scientists could recreate the sense of smell and taste is imperative to this. Without this person’s mood attitude and feelings toward the experience is nothing but a television show. A subject could smell the ocean or fresh mountain air. This would surely enhance a mood. Electronic pulses would be transmitted into a persons mind make the experience better. This could also be an additive to the relief of pain. These scientific discoveries are advancements for the better of mankind. Rifkin also states “scientists are creating prototypes of computing machines that can simulate aspects of reality”. This would make anything seem real to a person. These environments are called “virtual reality”. I thought it was interesting when the author wrote about a robot mimicking the movements of a person in a virtual reality room. The robot would mimic every movement of the person in the room. All of these aspects propose a question that every man should ask himself; “Are these good things”.
It is stated in this chapter that Virtual Reality “can potentially reduce, if not eliminate all together, the time and space interval between intention and realization.” Virtual Reality can be looked at as a direct technological extension and the design involved in expression of the mental processes. Virtual Reality has offered much more than many people can see from the human eye. An example of this would be how Virtual Reality situations allow for humans to actually enter the content of their extended minds which allows them to create, understand, and interact with their own personal situations and thoughts. It is stated that eventually one day down the road as Virtual Reality technology continues to progress and advance that people will be able to actually meet up in a virtual reality world and work together in virtual situations to help solve and understand

Virtual art is the product of long-standing traditions in art merged with revolutionary technological advances. With innovations emerging almost as fast as end-users can test and master new systems, technology has dramatically altered our daily lives and changed our thought processes. Like many technological advances, virtual and cyber realities have been embraced, and often created by, artists that experiment with the myriad of possibilities that technology can offer. While there have been many works of art inspired and created by means of digital advances, the medium has yet to be defined and its boundaries have not yet been identified. Since technology and virtual art are just beginning to be explored, the medium is in its infancy and thus cannot be judged based upon traditional mores of art. Before virtual art can achieve prominence and respect within the art world, many barriers of tradition must first be abolished.
Virtual reality can be defined as a, "technology that enables users to enter computer generated worlds and interface with them three dimensionally through sight, sound, and touch" (Newquist 93). Virtual reality combines computer simulation and visualization into a single, coherent whole (Peterson 8). Researchers say it embodies an attempt to eliminate the traditional distinction between the user and the machine. Virtual reality is intended to provide a means of naturally and intelligently interacting with information (8). Virtual reality is contending to be the interface of the future, allowing ordinary users to use their senses to interact with complex data.
From Mark Twain to Vincent van Gogh, each genre of art comes with its greatest master. There are many compelling arguments to why this specific artist, musician or writer is the best in their category. In modern days, we don’t have a Mozart, or a Hemingway or even an Andy Warhol. There are many good artists of their own kind and many more are emerging thanks to new technology and new forms of media art. However, many arguments are made as to why these forms of art aren’t considered true forms of art. A few years back and even today, many argue that digital paintings aren’t real art so it is not surprising when people don’t think of a video game as an art form, but it is. The world is at constant change and so is art.

“Augmented Reality has the ability to give the user the sense of the real world, while interacting with the virtual and physical objects.” (Azuma, 1997).
Because of the immersive experience VR is able to provide, it will soon be used more widely for social interactions. Imagine never having to leave your room but still be able to meet new people. With the internet readily available throughout the world, this virtual bonding is now a possibility as more and more people are creating their virtual-selves and living virtual lives.
