How Smartphone Has Affected to Children “How has smartphone affected to children?” Since the smartphone has become indispensable in our daily lives, apart of our bodies, this kind of question has been asked for last few years and till this moment. We do know that everything has two sides, which are negative and positive, and we try to deal with the negative side by balancing both of them so that we can get more benefits from it. However, children, they are still too young to perceive the potential hazard of using smartphone. Besides the listen and call functions, the smartphone has a bunch of features that we can benefit from it such as listening to music, recording, taking and editing photo, and so on. Moreover, it can be an excellent tool to study for children with the feature such as Siri, Google, dictionary, calculator, and free online books (The Apple’s operating system has a feature called iBooks, which allow you freely to access a lot of books). As in 2013, the rate of children in the United States, who owned a smartphone is very high. From 10 to 13 years old, there was 56%, and from 14 to 17, there was 66%. Unfortunately, most of them ignore those great features of the smartphone and use it for other purposes like playing games, watching youtube, using social networks (Facebook, Twitter, Snapchat, etc.) As stated in the report of the amount of time that teens spend on smartphone, there are 43% of teens using smartphone for video viewing.If we pay enough attention to the children, we definitely have seen that they use smartphone most of the time of a day, wherever they can, even in bedroom and restroom. Worse is they use it during classroom, which gets them distracted from a lecture, and lead them falling a little by little in class.
