The United States (US) Navy has been in many battles over the years, made many improvements to their ships, and has allowed women to join the force; this is why the Navy is one of the largest branches of the military today.
The Navy is a brand of the nation’s armed forces that includes warships and support ships, their crews, land bases, and many personnel. Also, many navies include an air force; some navies even have combat forces known as marines. The marines are trained to fight in the air and on land; they are some of the toughest people in the military.
“On October 13, 1775, the United States Navy was formed.” (“Worldbook” 2). There was a meeting and the Continental Congress voted for the Navy to be approved. This was to help out at sea where at the time British were the major force. The Navy was initially made to cut off trades and munitions between Britain and other countries. This was an attempt to help the Americans in the war.
The smaller navies of the world usually consist of warships, smaller boats like patrol boats, missile boats, and minesweepers. The main objective fo...
The U.S. Navy nurtured into a challenging power in the years previous to World War II, with battleship construction being revived in 1937, commencing with the USS North Carolina . It was able to add to its fleets throughout the early years of the war when the US was still not involved, growing production of vessels both large and small. In a conflict that had a number of amphibious landings, naval superiority was important in both Europe and the Pacific. The mutual resource...
During the American revolutionary war the British navy was a large part of the oppression of the American people. As a fresh nation we had little to no defense against the greatest navy in the world at the time. Ships in our harbor allowed the brats to limits plies and put large quantities of troops onto our shores very quickly. This was demonstrated after the Boston tea party when the British navy cut the city of Boston off from trade even though the ship that stayed docked was not a naval ship it is still a demonstration of the water sorority of the British people during the revolutionary time.
According to Nofi, “The United States Marine Corps is America's best-known military unit and perhaps the most famous in the world” . The traditions of the Marine Corps date way back since 1775 and the current regulations have been derived from the way marines in the past carried out their day to day activities. Some customs have been incorporated into the current orders and regulations to be able to standardize conduct of the marines. It is important for a marine to know and keep in mind traditional customs because one should never forget their heritage, therefore, practiced tradition in the Marine Corps should take precedence over Marine Corps orders and regulations .
“Through out most of their history, Americans freely defended their nation from threats both domestic and foreign. Only in their greatest conflicts - the Civil War, World War I, and the lead - up to World War II” (Forbes) they had to implement the draft. A draft, "called conscription in most countries, is the process by which the United States has, in the past, gathered members of its military. Generally, a man called to serve through the draft would serve for two to four years" (Rich). "Toward the end of the increasingly-unpopular Vietnam War, President Nixon led efforts to end the draft and create an all-volunteer military"(Nyden). The difference between a draft and an all-volunteer army is based on the quality, decisions, and the money.
Staff Sergeant (SSGT) Louis Moeller shaped me into the Recon Marine I wanted to be and the Non-Commissioned Officer (NCO) that I am now. By embodying the Recon Creed and always setting the example, he made me want to be an NCO that my troops would look up to and want to follow. Even when not in charge he was constantly the one peers and junior Marines alike, turned to for guidance and inspiration. To this day, I still find myself asking “What would Louis do?” when confronted with a leadership dilemma.
Once wartime rolls around, they become naval auxiliary, to ship and deliver troops and war materials. The largest participation came from the United States Merchant Marines after the Merchant Marine Act of 1936. Due to the act of 1936, the controversial question is when the
...he Marine Corps has faced many challenges in keeping their name in the branches of the Military. Even today the Marine Corps is on a fine line when it comes time to determine budgets for the military. Some people argue that the Marine Corps is the same as the Army when it comes to their operations. The biggest flaw in this argument is that the Marine Corps excels in amphibious warfare and that’s not all. The Marine Corps has one of the toughest training programs in the world. This is proven in their motto that every Marine is a rifleman. The Marine Corps also excels in the air proving they can operate anytime and anywhere. When the Marine Corps is under fire they always return to their roots in amphibious warfare. The people want the Marines and will always stand behind them and it is safe to say that the Marine Corps is here to stay and remain the few and the proud.
"The soldier is the Army. No army is better than its soldiers. The Soldier is also a citizen. In fact, the highest obligation and privilege of citizenship is that of bearing arms for one’s country” (-General George S. Patton Jr). Here within our borders we are the lucky ones, we have been blessed with the pleasure of so many brave men and women; to volunteer in the world's greatest military; and put their lives on the line for something that they believe is a moral obligation. But, think of some other countries, that have conscription (the practice of ordering people by law to serve in the armed forces) laws. We as a nation have some laws on conscription, and if you are male and above the age of 18 you have already signed the slip of paper stating that in the time of war; if our great nation re-instated the draft then there is a great chance you will be serving on the frontline of the next Great War. This brings me to my first topic of this page, is it ethical to have a draft? My second topic that I will discuss will be on if it is morally acceptable to "draft dodge". What I mean on the second topic is if you have a right; that morally allows you to not go fight in the war.
In World War II America played a major role in the Allies naval production. America is responsible for combatant ships of all types. This includes battleships, aircraft carriers, escort carriers, submarines, destroyers, and supply and auxiliary ships. The United States was able to build its naval force due to its economy and its neutrality in the early years of the war. After deploying a majority of their ships into battle, the production line already had twice the amount ready to be shipped
Conglomerates reportedly prefer staff who have military experience on their resumes and a career in the military offers good pensions, which are some of the few reasons why young women are joining the military.
The U.S Army is the strongest most respected and feared ground force in the world. It is also the oldest branch of the military and also the largest U.S. Military Service. There are approximately 76,000 officers and 401,000 enlisted members in the active duty Army. The success of the Army lives and dies on themselves and others. The army protects all that the constitution stands for. And each soldier defends this to their last breath with Loyalty, Duty, Respect, Honor, and Personal Courage. The Army has a mission to protect and defend its nation. ( “Overcoming Challenges” np)
The Navy has a notorious tradition of changing uniforms on a semi-regular basis. The last major change happened around 2010 when the Navy switched from Utilities to Type I Navy Working Uniforms (NWU). Seven years later a new change was announced going from Type I to Type III NWU. But, the 2017 NAVADMIN released did not just change the regular working uniforms as it additionally brought a sleuth of revisions to the general uniform policies. Understandably, the reaction of sailors towards these developments has been mixed at best. But, in the spirit of keeping everyone informed, here is a brief list of key changes:

Sailing has been around for millennia, and is considered to be one of the earliest and most environmentally friendly methods of water transport. Sailboats act as a method of transportation, exercise, and entertainment. These now more structurally developed and masterfully modeled ships have been engineered for efficiency, and these advancements have ensured durability and speed among modern sailboats. The great strength and ability of sailboats has given competitive owners the opportunity to participate in races, but generally sailboats have come to exist as more of a relaxed hobby. The expensive activity of sailing is demanding both physically and mentally, as it tests anticipative abilities and endurance. To understand the physics concepts at work in a sailboat is immensely advantageous, as it can generally improve one’s performance.
