Native Americans were known to be indigenous people because they were always settling in particular regions, so they were known as natives to the lands of America. Later on, Native Americans were known as American Indians. The Native Americans got their name from the first explorer of America, named Christopher Columbus. Christopher Columbus thought that he reached the Indies when he first came to America and so he decided to call the group native residents or “people of India” (Schaefer). The Trail of Tears happened between 1831-1939 in the states Virginia, West Virginia, North and South Carolina, Kentucky, Tennessee, Georgia, Alabama, and Florida (Vann). A variety of Native Americans were a part of this terrible episode in Native American history and the Cherokees were one of them. In the Trail of Tears event, many Cherokee families that consisted of men, women and children died from being exposed to traumatic events such as starvation and fevers. The federal government had ordered the Native American tribes out of their lands and into other lands (Vann). They were removed from their lands by horrible politicians and military officials. As a result, many Cherokee Indians and their families lost their lives and didn’t make it all the way to their destinations. The reason why the government ordered many of the Native American groups out of the lands they had already owned was because the settlers argued for more land and the Cherokee Indians didn’t want to give up the land they had occupied and made their whole life (Vann). This whole event called the Trail of Tears demonstrated

The Cherokee families moved to the West, but the tribes were together and denied to give up more land but Jackson was running for President if the Georgians elects him as President he agreed that he should give his own support to open up the Cherokee lands for establishment.
The Trail of Tears was one of the examples of when America treated Native Americans terrible. This event was absolutely terrible. We forced the Indians to walk to the West because white settlers wanted to grow more cotton. There was actually a law that let America remove all indians to the West, so that they can get more land to grow cotton. Now this wasn’t just a normal peaceful walk. These people were dying of starvation, most of them wasn’t able to keep their belongings, and there was many sicknesses. This 1,200 mile walk led to over 5,000 Cherokees dying.
Andrew Jackson signed the indian removal act in 1830. This act allowed him to make treaties with the natives and steal their lands. The Trail of Tears was a forced relocation of more than 15,000 cherokee Indians. The white men/people gave the natives 2 options: 1. Leave or 2. Stay and Assimilate (learn our culture). The natives couldn’t have their own government. There were 5 civilized tribes including the cherokees. They learned english and went to american schools and when the cherokees went to court they won.
Trail of Tears was the description of the journey Indians had to endure. The Indians were forced to leave their homes and families and move to the west, which is now known as Oklahoma. The Trial was not one specific road, trail, route or river traveled, the Indians traveled different routes to get to Oklahoma. Some of the Indians traveled upriver with steamboats (Sloan). Some of the Indians formed large Caravans that carried wagons full of their belongings and animals (Sloan). A lot of the Indians traveled through Arkansas to get to Oklahoma (Sloan). Tribes and other people would leave food, supplies and firewood along the way to help the Indians out (Sloan). Weather was often cold in the winter and very dry during the summer (Sloan). The trail of tears was a hideous harsh horrible time that the Native Americans will not forget the 1830s about 100,000 Native Americans peacefully lived on 1,000,000 and 1,000,000 of akers. They have been on this land generations before the wight men arrived. There was gold found in Gorga and the land was for ital. They used huge cotton plantations because the people would get rich off of them. In 1830 Andrew Jackson privily sinned the removal act. Te removal act gave the Government the power to trade the land for the land that the Native Americans were on. The Native Americans did not want to move, but the precedent sent troops to force the removal. Solders who looted there homes traveled 15,000 Cherokees, and gunpoint marched over 12,000
The Trail Of Tears is about how Andrew Jackson was removing the Native Americans out of their homes and away from those that they loved and the Native Americans have been for a long time. The soldiers had to help Jackson remove them, and also the soldiers had to do what they told or they might have either been killed or put into jail. Jackson had the Congress agreeing with him, and they passed Indian Removal by the Congress, and then signed by Jackson.President Andrew Jackson was not justified in his support of and the enforcement of the Indian Removal because he should not have taken the land away from the Native Americans and giving to other people.
Considering historical evidence, the notion: Native –Americans was not the first inhabitant of America is a complete false. For centuries, history kept accurate and vivid accounts of the first set of people who domiciled the western hemisphere. Judging by those records, below are the first set of Native-American people who inhabited America before the arrival of another human race; the Iroquois: The Iroquois of Native Americans was one of the tribes that lived in America before other people came. Based on historical evidence, it is believed that the Native Americans came from Asia way back during the Ice Age through a land bridge of the Bering Strait. When the Europeans first set foot in America, there were about 10 million Native Americans
To many the trail of tears has no meaning or relevance in their life, but for some the Trail of Tears has great meaning since many of the native ancestors endured the hardships of this time. In the 1830s, Native Americans occupied many acres of land in Georgia, Tennessee, Alabama, North Carolina, and Florida. The main reason for the Trail of Tears was because the Americans wanted the Indians’ land for themselves so they could raise their cattle, and because of the good soil so they could grow and harvest crops. Their ancestors had lived on and cultivated this land for generations, and by the end of that generation very few Native Americans remained anywhere in the Southeastern United States. Many think that The Trail of Tears was just the “Five Civilized Tribes”, but there were many other smaller tribes involved too. Some tribes agreed to sign, and others were forced into it, but either way it went they all had to leave. Many Native Americans suffered from exposure, disease, and starvation on their way to their destinations, making The Trail of Tears one of the greatest hardships in Native American history.

Native Americans lived on the land that is now called America, but when white settlers started to take over the land, many lives of Native Americans were lost. Today, many people believe that the things that have been done and are being done right now, is an honor or an insult to the Natives. The choices that were made and being made were an insult to the Native Americans that live and used to live on this land, by being insulted by land policies, boardings schools and modern issues, all in which contain mistreatment of the Natives. The power that the settlers and the people who governed them had, overcame the power of the Natives so the settlers took advantage and changed the Natives way of life to the
The Trail of Tears was a horrific time in history from the Cherokee Indians. May 18, 1830 was the beginning of a devastating future for the Cherokee Indians. On that day congress officially passed Andrew Jackson’s Indian removal act. This policy granted President Andrew Jackson the right to force the Cherokee tribe consisting of about 13,000 people off of their reservations consisting of about 100 million acres east of the Mississippi River in the Appalachian Mountains and to attend a long and torturous journey consisting of about 1,200 miles within nine months until they reached their new home, a government-mandated area with in present-day Oklahoma. They left their land which was home to the “Five Civilized Tribes” which were assimilated
The Trail of Tears was a hard battled journey for the Cherokee Nation. The Cherokee were driven to move west. They had to compromise and sign treaties, which drove them out of their land by the U.S. government. This was unfair to the Cherokees; the white settlers wanted the land for gold. Trail of tears is historically monumental because it shows the U.S. government cruelty to the Native Americans. It was unfair rights because they basically stole Cherokees land to satisfy their hunger for gold.
Native Americans suffered hundreds of years of violence, discrimination and forced relocation from their land, during the European invasion of North America. After the Europeans arrive, Indian culture soon became endangered, a culture which developed distinctively shaped tools, sewing needles, clothing, jewelry and weapons. They held strong their own higher cultural beliefs, and legends, retold to them for many generations. During the era of colonization in the United States, Native Americans were subjected to years of despair, of which includes ravaging diseases, conversion to Christianity, European technology, and procurement of native land.
